Late January vs late April

When would you prefer to go?

We own DVC (home resort Boardwalk). We're trying to decide for 2017 if we would rather go in late January or late April. It will be two thirtysomething parents with my sixtysomething parents and our two young daughters in a 2 bedroom.

To us, the pro for April is the weather. We are going to try to stay at Beach Club and I think April would be perfect for that. If we went in January we would probably try to stay at Bay Lake Tower instead since we wouldn't be using the pool much. It seems much more blah to me. (we will book Boardwalk at 11 months for backup of course)

The pros for January are the crowds and room prices (even though we are using points).

What do you prefer?

Weather is cooler (sometimes "colder") in Jan.
(We like it that way.)

And, much fewer guests in late Jan.

I prefer to avoid over packing and layers, so I would prefer the near-certainty of short sleeves and shorts all day in late April.

I would pick April. Better weather, longer park hours, manageable crowds.

Depends on what your priorities are. I would say that crowd levels will be lower in January, but the weather will be warmer in April.

FYI April is late in 2017: April 16, 2017. (Compare with March 27, 2016.) So, lots of school long weekends nation-wide, and most of the public school kids in Mass. and Maine have the entire week off following Easter 2017 (because we have a state holiday - Patriots Day - the 3rd Monday of April annually, and have the entire week off (every year)).

Airfare will probably be much cheaper in late Jan. than late April in 2017 because of these 2 factors. (We go to Disney most Patriots Day weeks, except every 4 years or so when Easter is late. But, I don't think we'll go this year because airfare this year is about double what I usually paid - even though Easter isn't in late April. Even flying in/out of neighbor states is very expensive.) (Perhaps try pricing out airfare now, for late April 2016. It will probably be higher in 2017 because of how late Easter is, but it will give you some info.)

That all said, I'm sure most of the Easter and Patriots school vacation crowds will be gone by the last week in April. HTH!

"Late April?"

Easter is April 16, 2017. Crowds can slow down a bit after that.

Flower & Garden time at Epcot is lovely.

Time by the pool with young children is often a 'must-do' for my family these days.

Late April.
