Large boxes at Star Tours and TOT queues - queue changes coming? Shades of xPASS?

Thanks for posting Doc. I agree it may well be queue stuff. It sure is making my June trip planning confusing. I hope I dont have to change a bunch of stuff right before we leave.

I think it is too early to worry about xPASS messing with plans. They'd have to reach critical mass before doing anything with it, and so far this is only two attractions.

"Plusing" as with the Winnie The Pooh attraction? Is Peter Pan getting the same thing?

Yes WtP, Haunted Mansion, Soarin' and Space Mountain all could be considered to have NextGen plussed queues (Soarin' being a very early version).

I know Peter Pan is going to get some queue work once they open the new bathrooms where the skyway building was (and probably the bulk of it after some parts of FLE are open), but I've not heard much other than just re-working the queue, probably for capacity (get more guests out from lining up on the pathway). There could be some elements added though.

Thanks for update, I wonder what exactly they need to modify besides installing scanners.

Not sure, since aside from the leaked pictures there isn't much to go on, but aside from a scanner I would assume there would be display for the CM somewhere to say why someone is being denied access, similar to the ones at the ticket turnstiles, but probably with more info. Maybe even ones for guests so they can check their xPASSes, etc. The picture only showed a "Mickey head" scanner similar to the ones tested for entry at Epcot, which only turned green when accepted. Imagine the confusion as people try and use their xPASSes and it doesn't turn green, and no one knows why? :)

Whether there will be a turnstile or not is another one, and if they have a turnstile and are NOT getting rid of Fastpass, they probably need two different entrances, so the entrance area would need some reworking.

Maybe, but they can also scan FP bar as well or CM who will still be present at this entry can just manually check FPers and manually push botton to open turstiles. I do not think 3rd entrance is needed, esp. if they will get rid of FPs eventually. Moreover, 3rd entry means extra CM, I am not sure Disney is looking for creating more jobs.

If for the most part xPASS is self-serve and the CM is only needed for problems, then I don't think they'll need another CM (at least beyond an initial period). And forcing all the FP users through a turnstile will slow that operation down...but all speculation at this point. We have little idea how they plan to handle it.

I know it speculation, but when it stopped us before!;)
I understand what you say, however, if CM will be needed for trouble with reading, he needs to be somewhere around, and nearest one would be the one from FP line, leaving FP line open for a while which will call for another turnstile and again all the running back and forwards will slow both entries. I do not think it is very effective.

Dear Doc,
I like you, your interactions within this thread are remarkably noble and espouse the altruistic idealism that every human being should embrace. Your posts illustrate the portrait of a highly intelligent person with decent morals exhibited in every response which is nothing short of resplendent. Do you agree?

Kinda hard to make this judgment just yet, no? ;)

Oh my, Doc, should I start looking for a gift?;)
And may I say it was starting very interesting, confusing but interesting.:rotfl:

It's a trick question, I just want him to change my typo, it's irritating the **** out of me. I put "thank" for the update, it's driving me mad, I want him to add the "s" for me, lol. I make a ton a typos in any given passage but this one is irking me. :goodvibes

Although I might have some over-inflated sense of superiority and think I'm the second coming of Uncle Walt (and for the record, I do not...) I actually haven't the foggiest idea what any of my posts in this thread have to do with altruism or morals... :)

Did I just gain a groupie? :)

Oh boy, this is so embarrassing. It was a yes or no question -- that's all. If you had just answered "yes" or "no", the humor would have conveyed, but you over analyze everything and I look silly and I have to recapitulate my point. I just wanted you to change my typo. I put "thank" for the update instead of "thanks" and I wanted you to add the "s". That's all. :)

Also, there will be NO turnstiles with the new scanners, that's the whole point, that's xPass 101. ;)

Are you happy about it or scared? I personally a bit scared and confused...
But I am sure NYtimez will be jealous.:lmao:
Oh Kelly, you are so bad! I don't even have enough time to count all of your groupies. Shouldn't you be addressing Mesa? I think he deserves your undivided attention. Of course, that's in between planning your wedding and giving you number to Larry. Larry her number is 867-5309! ;)

Sorry, but I didn't see anything to indicate take that post as humorous, or why I'd correct a typo for you in an earlier post, or how the two were even connected. I'm certainly not the perfect typist (although I've got a wireless keyboard I can often blame...)

But now I'm an over-analyzer. No groupie cookie for you. :)

She loves me, she loves me not, she loves me, she loves me not...:lmao:
This groupie is so confused...:confused3
Doc, you do not need this emotional rollercoaster. :lmao:

I'm interested, but only if she's ridiculously hot. I'm superficial that way.

What, I'm married with kid you say? That's okay, I'm already an established moral degenerate. Doesn't matter if you jump in the shallow or the deep end I suppose--you still get wet. ;)

As tempting as it is, hot girls always like bad boys, high morals stand in our way, those morals...;)

What happens on the DIS stays on the DIS :)

But seriously, before we totally derail another thread...I'd like to keep this one around to discuss the Mystery Of The Boxen...I'm interested in whatever elements they are adding to those queues...

I think we save, at least till we start learning numbers again, 1, 2...:rotfl2:

But you are right, I also would love to learn more about those boxes and queues.:thumbsup2
