Large boxes at Star Tours and TOT queues - queue changes coming? Shades of xPASS?

apparently there were construction permits filed on 2/28 to do queue modificatinos for Rock-N-Roller Coaster, Great Movie Ride, Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, Maelstrom, The Land, Soarin, and Kilimanjaro Safari.

Interesting info...all except GMR and The Land are Fastpass (with Indy a part-time gig), and they've been doing something at The Land for a while, with the rumor being to add Fastpass to make up for Test Track's impending refurb.

So true, it felt like only yesterday, when I told DH that it was either "me" or the "bike". He gave up his customized Hyabusa just for me and here we are approaching 10 years of marriage in June! But yeah, let's get this thread back on track.

The rumored xPASS, which is the update to FASTPASS that is allegedly coming to Walt Disney World perhaps in 2013, has been the subject of lots of speculation and today we have word from JimHillMedia.com which attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios are going to be included as part of xPASS.

I asked the two CMs at TOT today and they looked from me to the box like the box had always been there. No answers from them! I guess we'll know in time

Because we're not (yet ) arguing if the boxes were put there because too many guests were walking down the middle of the path instead of spreading out, or if it's part of a "more mickey bar carts" initiative

They have some sort of sponsorship deal with Stanley. Most construction projects have had their logo on the signs. Some fairly well integrated/themed, others just kinda stuck on like those.

More than likely Stanley provides tools in return for being mentioned on construction project signs.

Seeing the picture again with it situated right under the new entrance sign...it really does look like it's for an information desk...

Notice that the Star Tours box is about the height of an information desk or ice cream stand, but the ToT box is a LOT taller (taller than the CMs standing next to it). It would seem that the these boxes do NOT contain the same things inside. So there's more fodder for speculation and conspiracy theories.

Agree, they are not the same but who knows maybe when they are done, short box will appear at TOT and tall one at StarWars. They just do it in stages. I wonder however if someone ever saw similar boxes at other attractions they do work on right now.

Latest conspiracy theory...maybe the box sizes are irrelevant...a red herring, just to confuse the issue and the thing inside each is the same! Or they are just using the boxes that they have available...

I was just checking my photos from mid- Jan and yep, I thought I remembered seeing that box at ToT even back then. So they've been around.
