We (self, DH & DSS) are up early. We've a 7:00 a.m. PS at Boma. It's pouring rain, & we went to bed late, but we're still too excited to sleep.

After a great breakfast, we pick up some great AKL-wear at the sourvenir store (which are to Disney resorts as casinos are to Vegas resorts), and drive over to the Poly for very-early check-in and to pick up our length-of-stay admission tickets for the cruise package.

A wonderful CM checks us in, and very efficiently says "Oh, you're taking the cruise -- it's so much fun", to which the DSS, who may be sleepy but isn't comotose, says "we're taking the cruise?", and I, in my best 'it may have been decades ago, but I was once in drama drama' tone, reply "I'm sorry, there must be some mistake", while the DH distracts the DSS and I attempt to wink at the CM without looking like I have a stray lash stuck in my eye.

The CM, after a moment of flustered confusion, catches on, and quietly adds the Bahamas check-in information to the material he gave me. The poor fellow. I think he felt badly. The surprise was definitely not ruined (as our arrival at the Wonder will show). I felt worse putting him in a position where he felt he had done anything other than treat us really well.

We leave our bags with the valets, and head to the AK. It is still pouring rain and we are there 15 minutes after opening, joining thousands of other guests in our freshly-purchased yellow 100 years of Magic ponchos. Yes, they keep you dry. No, they don't stand out if one of you gets lost!

Great thing about the rain, the animals were out in force. On Kilimanjaro Safari, we saw a baby Thompson's gazelle which had only been born an hour or so before -- his mom was busy getting him up and walking, just like the mommy horses and cows at home. This became another of the daily 'magical moments' of our trip.

We enjoyed AK, although we thought Dino-Rama was a little too carnival-like for Disney. Riding Kali River rapids 5 times in a row is something that likely won't happen soon again -- another 'plus' to the rain.

Headed back to the Poly around 3, and found there was a little more magic in our day. We were checked into room 1913 in Tokelau -- a garden view room with a view of the lagoon. And several bold as brass ducks. Another dip in the pool (who knew the DSS was a total water-child), and then off for a quick visit to the MGM for dinner, a drop from the TOT, and a fast trip on the RRC. Then, back to the Poly & a good night's rest.

Next: Typhoon Lagoon, MK, and 3 nights to the Wonder!

Great report! Looking forward to reading the rest!

I must agree :( How neat that you got to see a newborn gazelle though. The rain has it's upside doesn't it?

I enjoyed reading this.
