Kingdom Tower DVC at the Contemporary (Orlando Sentinel 2/26/08)

Very well put....also my point to my earlier post, although not spelled out. It is amazing how everyone is constantly speculating about CRV and now that it is here, they aren't happy with it....:confused3

If you are interested in buying there, I wouldn't think it would matter if they called it "The Dump at Contemporary Resort", the point is you got your wish and you will be able to stay there. I will try to stay there at least once, but it is not a must have for me......but even I have enough sense to say who cares about the name, its not like they named it "The Messiah Tower".....who cares you first thought about when you read the name.....

::yes:: and THAT was also well said.

Sometimes, I just feel bad all of the complaining that Disney gets. I think they might be shocked if they got flooded with letters thanking them for all of the magic they provide all of us!!!!!!

Disney doesn't provide anything without a price, including "magic". It's not like they are providing a free public service. The only way to access the "magic" is with money. Disney is out to get as much of it from us as they can. If people want to complain about what they are paying for, then they should. The only way a business will improve is to listen to the complaints and keep their customers happy.

I love it!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

How about "Its Just Asbestos Removal Tower"?

I would love to find that old thread where people were insisting the construction was asbestos removal! That would be a good laugh. :lmao:

As soon as Disney does announce the Contemporary DVC officially, I think we need to bump up all the threads insisting it was not DVC, not 100% DVC, and that it was "family suites". They ought to be good for another laugh.:goodvibes

Most definitely don't like the name.

It immediately brought up a combination of "Kingdom Hall" and "The Watchtower". (The meeting place and propaganda magazine for Jehovah's Witnesses - not that there's anything wrong with that :confused3 )

I hope Disney rethinks the name. I won't be buying points there anyway, so they can pooh pooh my opinion if they like. I might stay there sometime though. (although in 10 years I've never stayed anywhere other than OKW:flower3: )

I just read thru the entire article from the Sentinal and I had to chuckle at the last line - a comment from a UCF professor about timeshares in a time of possible economic recession -

"People are looking for a bargain."

I wonder if I could convince DH that it's a bargain....:rolleyes1

easy just compare the rack rate (with a 8 to 10% increase in price each year) to what you would be paying for KTR.

believe me it definitely opens eyes.

speaking of any idea what the price would be

bc standard room - $325, $370, $440, $490
CR standard tower room (baylake) - $380, $430, $485, $540
CR standard tower mk - $410, $465, $540, $600
Polyn garden view - $340, $339, $465, $535

bcv 2-bedroom $610, $795, $1005, $1140

so maybe
KTR 2-bedroom - non-mk view - $715, $930, $1175, $1335

definitely glad to be a member.

I’d like to find my post from 2-3 years ago when I reported a conversation with a management level CM who revealed to DH the plan to replace the North Wing at the CR with a 16-story U-shaped tower and sweeping changes to be made to the 1st and 4th levels of the then-only CR tower, and the subsequent blasting I took over it from other posters. There was even a separate thread devoted to the subject of people (like me) who shouldn’t report such things without “100% proof”. Well, I still don’t have 100% proof, but I’m pretty sure most of it’s gonna happen. A couple of changes weren’t made to the Concourse and it appears it will be a 15-story C-shaped tower instead of a 16-story U-shaped tower – I can admit when my information was wrong.
:rotfl:

Reading this thread reminds me... Does anyone remember that old 70's movie "Kingdom of the Spiders"? :)

I think you're beating yourself up too much.

I mean...the difference between a "C" and a "U" is pretty much perspective and orientation, right?

I don't really like the name, but not for any reason really. If they put Magic in front I'd like it better I think.

Something funny though, I told my MIL (also a member) about this and when she heard the name she said "oooh" - I was thinking that she thought Kingdom Hall since she used to be a JW. Actually though, she is a huge Steven King fan and apparently he has a book that has a hospital called Kingdom Hospital? The hospital is haunted in the book so her mind immediately went to a haunted tower hotel. I told her they already have one of those at MGM. LOL.

First of all, I am so not religious, but the name doesn't bother me much, kind of like it actually.

As someone stated, maybe a second tower would be added to become the Magic Tower, but I agree, it would have made more sense to name the first one "Magic".

However, as someone else also mentioned, the moniker "Contemporary" isn't really relevant anymore, and they should consider renaming the whole complex.

I think a good idea would be for them to call the entire complex "The Magic Kingdom Resort" (or just leave it The Contemporary Resort), but naming the individual buildings the "Magic Tower" (current CR building), and the "Kingdom Tower" (the new DVC building). This would make sense to me.

I am religious, but honestly my first thought when I saw the name was that it was named "Kingdom Towers" because of the proximity to the Magic Kingdom. I'm from the Bible Belt, so I get surprised when I see people taking offense to something that they view as possibly, maybe, perhaps, makes them think of something relating to religion. Heaven forbid, we can't have that. Well if CM's at Kingdom Towers wish someone Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays come December 2009, then we'll know for sure what they were thinking!

Are you complaining about people complaining? Just wondering. :lmao:

Now why do you have to complain about people complaining about people complaining? It's a free country. Whiners Anonymous members have rights just like you. Geez.... :sad2:

:rolleyes1

Actually I was thinking the same thing, maybe this manager was just standing on the wrong side of the desk when he was "peeking" at the drawings :lmao:

Oh my gosh!!! See what happens when I don't use the computer for a few days!?!?!?! This is so exciting!

Since we're not going with CRV or VCR why not just do magic kingdom villas?? Rename the whole thing (though this house does like CR) or just name the villas MKV.. It could work.

As a side note: I was raised 1/2 jehovah's witness... The name Kingdom Tower immediately triggered a yuck feeling, but I couldn't place it (tried to block out that childhood) until someone else posted kingdom hall.

It won't stop me from buying/staying there, after all it's our new home! :lovestruc :cloud9:
