Kingdom Tower DVC at the Contemporary (Orlando Sentinel 2/26/08)

I'm a Baptist minister and I made no religious connection at all until I read this thread. I did see it as a tower of a hotel facing the magic kingdom. I also wonder why people didn't say similar things about the "Magic" Kingdom before. This is Walt's kingdom, not God's.

Well, here is a third Catholic Marylander....however I am missing the whole point about the " Kingdom" name. Guess I need to read more of my bible! :)

We are on the same page- I am saying I do not have any religious association with the name. I actually like it. I think it is a cultural/regional thing.

If we use these 1 bedroom resort vacation points for each resort:
  • OKW-30
  • VB-32
  • HHI-28
  • BWV(P)-36
  • BWV(S)-30
  • VWL-36
  • BCV-36
  • SSR-32
  • AKV-34

And if we use these numbers, and use the numbers that CRV = 39. I calculate 'estimated' CRV numbers for 1 bedroom as this (taking a ratio of 39/36 from current BWV(P) requirements)

Projected 1 br CRV (for comparison, BWV(P))

Adventure = Sun-Thur 24, Fri-Sat, 49, Total Week = 218 (200)
Choice = Sun-Thur 26, Fri-Sat, 51, Total Week = 232 (214)
Dream = Sun-Thur 30, Fri-Sat, 61, Total Week = 272 (252)
Magic = Sun-Thur 33, Fri-Sat, 65, Total Week = 295 (270)
Premier = Sun-Thur 43, Fri-Sat, 81, Total Week = 377 (350)

Projected 2 br CRV (for comparison, BWV(P)

Adventure = Sun-Thur 33, Fri-Sat, 65, Total Week = 295 (270)
Choice = Sun-Thur 35, Fri-Sat, 66, Total Week = 307 (282)
Dream = Sun-Thur 37, Fri-Sat, 78, Total Week = 341 (314)
Magic = Sun-Thur 43, Fri-Sat 81, Total Week = 377 (350)
Premier = Sun-THur 54, Fri-Sat 115, Total Week = 500 (462)

Well said. I'm Roman Catholic and it never crossed my mind either. You just can't keep reading into something that just is not there.

Hmm, three Catholic Marylanders on one thread. What are the odds? (And where are you people that I never see you in real life? I'm a Howard Co. girl.)

It could also be a sensitivity thing. I find a lot of modern Catholics are a lot less hyper about symbolism than evangelicals and anti-religious folks. Maybe we're just so accustomed to it in our churches and masses that we've become blaise?

In any case, Kingdom Tower does fit in with the whole Kingdom of Hearts gaming theme Disney has. But KTR and KTV do sound like silly acronyms to me.

Referring to WendyinNC's excellent point, can they close without substantial completion...or just begin selling (e.g. taking deposits)?

The above is from several pages ago. The issue is less one of completion than one of filing necessary documents. Disney has not filed final official disclosure documents (the tomes you get when you buy) including filing drawings declaring and depicting units it will sell. Disney can do pre-sales (without a closing and would likely be a deposit arrangement) before the official disclosure documents are filed. It can do actual sales with closing after the official documents are filed for the unit you might purchase and the closing can occur before the unit is actually completed or has an occupancy permit. However, as a practical matter that will include only sales that are done somewhat close to completion of the unit (a few months give or take) because the filings DVC has to make will be its final ones on all the rules and point structures and requires that it actually have a unit getting close to completion that it can designate and depict. However, the entire building does not need to be getting close to completion, only the portion having your unit and necessary access to it.

So a studio in October will cost me around 39 points for 3 days (13 * 3). If I want to stay in early December, it'll cost me around 36 points (12 * 3). And if I decide to take my sister's family for 5 days in a 2bedroom it'll cost me: 175 pts for October and 165 pts for early December.

So an add-on of 85 pts means I can go one year for 3 days in December (36), take my sis the next year for 5 days (175), then return the following year for 3 days in October (39). Or for 70 points I can alternate studio and 1bedroom stays yearly.

I see from your signature line you've never stayed at a monorail resort. Try it and you might see what the big deal is. :goodvibes

I tried it.... Still doen't get the big deal.

I found the monorail to be a lot of hype.... ANd the bus service to the other parks was HORRID!

How come no-one has a problem with "Magic Kingdom", but now "Kingdom Tower" invokes some other meaning? I just don't get it. This is a tower that looks at 'Magic Kingdom" park. I read nothing else into it.

KEY word in this statement

MAGIC!!!

If they had called them Magic Kingdom Towers... Whole different feel.....:lmao:

Thanks!

I'm relatively new at this, but that is pretty much what I thought. The funny thing is when I called my guide about an add-on yesterday his first comment was "I thought you were waiting for that other..." He couldn't bring himself to mention the name of CRV. I guess he fears the phones are bugged and he'll be instantly zapped for using the forbidden words.

I presume all the guides have a long list of members to call once sales are announced. And they seem pretty busy too. He said Contracts was behind as were guides in returning calls. If the economy is tanking it doesn't seem to be showing at DVC yet.

I have 265 more points to but in the future. I just need to decide how and where to distribute them.

Kingdom Towers. Butthead Towers. Stinky Towers.

I'm in for 300 points.

We have 3- 170 point contracts at SSR (one for each child to be given when they are adults).

We will buty 3-100 point contracts at Disney's Kingdom Come Towers or whatever name they chose (again, one for each of our children when they are older). As long as they have bocce ball, we're in. LOL!!

We may buy 3-100 point Hawaii contracts - we'll see how that all plays out.
