Kingdom Tower DVC at the Contemporary (Orlando Sentinel 2/26/08)

I see from your signature line you've never stayed at a monorail resort. Try it and you might see what the big deal is. :goodvibes

It's fine if you're primarily interested in the Magic Kingdom.

As soon as they start running it out to Downtown Disney I'll be in raptures over the monorail!

OKW BWV (Standard) BWV (Preferred) VWL BCV SSR AKV KTV
Studio 15 15 18 18 18 16 15 16
One Bedroom 30 30 36 36 36 32 36 39
Two Bedroom 40 40 46 46 46 41 45 54
Grand Villa 65 n/a 100 n/a n/a 90 99 96

.

Are you saying for example the KTV studio will/might average 16 points a night over an entire year? And 1BR 39 etc?

If it is the "Kingdom Tower" does that mean each room comes with a jeweled "throne"?

:upsidedow

As I understand it, yes. If they had no seasons, no premium views and no Fri/Sat premium this is what the point value would be. So you can expect the Adventure season standard view to be less and Magic season MK view to be more.

Now why do you have to complain about people complaining about people complaining? It's a free country. Whiners Anonymous members have rights just like you. Geez.... :sad2:

:rolleyes1
Wait just a second ... are you complaining that I was complaining that kritter was complaining that ... oh shoot ... I lost my train of thought! :rotfl:

Very exciting news:thumbsup2

I want to add myself as another person who thought of no religious connection to the name "Kingdom Towers." I just thought of the Magic Kingdom.

Now if I can just convince DH that an add on would be a good investment by 2009.:teacher:

who cares you first thought about when you read the name.....

Sorry you're so "confused." I thought it was a fairly easy comment to understand. So what if you don't care? Others do.

Disney doesn't provide anything without a price, including "magic". It's not like they are providing a free public service. The only way to access the "magic" is with money. Disney is out to get as much of it from us as they can. If people want to complain about what they are paying for, then they should. The only way a business will improve is to listen to the complaints and keep their customers happy.
Excellent post.

I think you missed on the smilie for your post, didn't you mean to use :stir: ?

I like the name and hope that we get to buy there. I know that we will stay there a lot since there are two princesses in my household.

Ouch...who would have thought the fight from if CRV tower was going to be DVC would become a "Disney is trying to make us all religous" fight because they named the building something that some people might consider to be religous....lets see, closest building to Magic Kingdom=Kingdom Tower, or Jehovah Witnesses have Kingdom Hall's=Kingdom Tower......guess all of us that don't really care are just being duped by the big Mouse

....the simple solution to those that have been offended is boycott and don't buy there.....doubt that will happen :happytv:

Four Catholic Marylanders, a Southern Baptist and an Athiest run into a DISboard thread about a mysterious new Kingdom building...

NEXT...?

Don't forget me..a Catholic/Methodist

With all the complaints about the name suddenly all I could think of was this...

Magic Kingdom In The Sky

All my life I have been searching for that fabled promised land,
With my sisters and my brothers we shall walk there hand-in-hand.
Through the trials and tribulations and the devils cruel temtations.
I know that we'll all get there one day!

After years and years of wandering, oh that kingdom we shall find
and the doors might not be open but we'll gather in the line.
And our hearts will swell with pride the day those gates swing open wide and take a walk down Main Street USA!

Oh, that Magic Kingdom in the sky!
We will all be there together by and by!
We will all drink from the fountain and go riding on Space Mountain!
When we reach that Magic Kingdom in the sky!

When Mother Minnie and Father Dopey and Saint Tinkerbelle abide
There will be no more cares or sorrows on that heavenly teacup ride
I will lay down all my fears when I put on those big black ears
And join the choir to sing in harmony

We will sing the song of aimless soul, that one gone astray
Who were lost but now were found in the Electrical Parade
Singing Hakuna Matata, growing mouseketeer stigmata
In the only club thats made for you and me!

Oh, that Magic Kingdom in the sky!
We will all be there together by and by!
All Gods children shall be free in The Pirates of the Carribean
When we reach that Magic Kingdom in the sky!

Oh, the meekest and the poorest their inheritance shall see
and a zillion Japanese tourist all will join the jamboree
They will ride that holy Monorail into sweet providence
When they learn their redeemer is a mouse in short red pants! (Nice pants)

Wont you take me to Orlando where the sun is shining bright?
All the angels are clean shaven and the people snowy white
Where your problems are all hidden and unhappiness forbidden
You will find salvation for a modest fee!

Climb into my Winnebago and if you will help with the gas
Then maybe we can finagle you a five or six day pass
May your afterlife be blessed just American Express it
Let Master Card and Visa set you free!

Oh that Magic Kingdom in the Sky we will all be there together by and by
All religions may be practiced there except for Southern Baptist
When we reach that Magic Kingdom in the Sky

Oh that Magic Kingdom in the Sky manufactured by that Uncle Walter guy
We'll give thanks to that old geezer and we'll keep in the freezer
When we reach that Magic Kingdom in the Sky

When we reach that Magic Kingdom in the...sky!

I think the whole point here is while many do not see any religious connection, a fairly significant number of people do when they first here the name. Truly my first thought was not of a biblical nature (but it was my second thought), I just thought the name was awful. I do, however, definitely see how many people would make a religious connection with so many religious building having the name Kingdom in them (as well as the Kingdom of Heaven).

Several pages ago when I asked what was the first thing you thought of, I was not trying to create a debate or imply that I thought it was religious in nature. I just wanted to see what people thought because I could see how many would make the connection.

It just seems with so many creative people at Disney, as well as their knowledge of their broad appeal, that they could have come up with something better. The Contemporary Tower at the Kingdom would have been better. I'm sure the people here have better names than the one that they picked.

Not a dvc member yet, but wife has been on the fence for about two years. She has wished the contempary had a DVC. That is where she would like to own. So with the news about kingdom towers she is ready. Question is is there a chance that it could sell out before it would be offered to the public sence i am not DVC member yet?

You are right, that there could have been a million names for this building. But, also, just because your first thought was something different, doesn't make it offensive or a bad name. I am sure that EPCOT received vasts amounts of criticism....as well as more than a few rides in Disney's past and present.

But I think it is a silly debate or something that people should be taking offense to. This isn't about this building, it is about our Society in general. A few people feel offended by something and it will probably end up with a name change, the Magic Tower will also be changed (if that was the intended name of the next building)....but truth be told, it is all just very silly. I could understand people being upset if it was named something that could trully be offensive to any class of people, but that isn't the case. JMHO and I wish this thread would go back to being about the new DVC offering and not a debate about the name of the stupid building. My peace offering.....:flower3:

I haven't been part of this discussion so far, but I do wonder why they picked a name that was so close to a name used by a religious group. The first thing I thought of when I heard the name is that the Jehovah's Witnesses had infiltrated DVC. It just surprises me that not one person in DVC management realized that that connection would be there. Of all the names you could pick, why pick that one?

Yea, there's one thing that Walt couldn't stand more than anything else. That was anything that reminded him, even remotely, of something Christian. :rotfl2:

funny, when I hear "Kingdom", I think more of Saudi Arabia, Arab, Muslim, etc....

With all the complaints about the name suddenly all I could think of was this...

This is hilarious! Question - When we meet on that beautiful shore in the sweet by and by, will it be Bay Lake? DH and I have actually strolled WDW and wondered how heaven could be much prettier.

As far as the name...I'm not offended, but do see it as being an issue that can / should be avoided by Disney. Its sort of like when Chevrolet marketed the NOVA in Mexico. They had poor sales because it translated to mean - "no go." I do see the "medievel kingdom" tie-in, but know that others will not.

I do see the possibility of some evangelicals being very offended by this, to the point of boycotting Disney AGAIN!! And...even though I'm not offended, I must admit that the name does make me feel squeemish, and less likely to purchase points there. I probably still will, because wouldn't I just be a hyocrite for buying more BWV points so that I could stay in KT.

Just like Spiceycat said...everything is about religion in our state. I literally know people that still have food stashed from 2000 because they think the tribulation is coming now. OTHERS ACTIVELY LOOK FOR THINGS TO BE OFFENDED BY and are ORGANIZED. It could cause Disney a headache at least.
