Kids stole the keys from the dog at POTC

If anyone is in MK and on PoTC in the near future PLEASE ask one of the CM's if they did catch those teens. I think we'll all sleep a little better knowing the punks got caught.

I am heading to WDW if a few. Don't know what park we will end up at but if it's MK I will ask.

I have been on POTC and HM a bazillion times while people are using flash photography through the entire ride and have never once heard an announcement or anything said when getting off the ride. I am not saying that they do not ever say anything, but I dont think they care as much as the Disney defenders would have the rest of us believe.

I was watching a video from Jurassic Park at Universal and I love the way the employee was all over this guy for his video camera. I wish Disney would be like that in the dark rides.

I have once on POTC. An announcer broke through the tape and said no flash photography. The guy was on the same boat that we were.

i asked the cm yesterday at potc and she said she hadnt heard anything about someone stealing the keys or trying to steal the keys.

What is so wrong with thongs and why would they destroy them?! Fashion choices should be left to individual preference...:rotfl2:

Sorry DG...I picked up on this and it made me chuckle, I am not trivializing the seriousness of vandalism. BTW, GO TEAM VENTURE!

If she's not Dr Mrs the Monarch by now, it ain't going to happen.

Go back to Phantom Limb Shiela.

I am sorry ....but its just common sense that you don't take flash photography in dark rides. It ruins the experiences for everyone else and shows how truly selfish you are. As an adult you shouldn't have to be told this You should know it!!

Sorry, but it doesn't seem to be very *common* sense if so many people don't realize it. I assume the flashers fall into one of 3 categories - don't know, don't care, or oops, I forgot (to turn off the flash, it wasn't allowed, etc).

I agree that it seems common sensical not to take flash photos on POTC or HM - but I've never thought of IASW as a "dark" ride. I've also not heard the announcement (and I have listened for it after I knew flash photos were prohibited).

For anyone who was truly unaware, if you visit the DisneyWorld website, choose your park of interest and "attractions" from the left side menu, you can read a summary of each ride as well as the policies that apply - which include no flash photography (or not) depending on the ride. Hopefully this is more helpful than just telling you that you are a selfish, inconsiderate, no common sense adult...

...quietly hoping the flash photography rants would just go away...

Well, I'm glad I know what was going on now. I was working in the Pirate shop on Friday night and heard an Attractions cast member yell up the hallway "You guys need to stop that or I'm going to call security!" I assumed someone was doing something unsafe on the conveyor belt. Then four boys came running out into the shop and said to "split up!" and then, upon seeing that all of our gates were closed, rushed out of the double doors by the Pirates League. Unfortunately, we didn't know anything was wrong (other than the usual :rolleyes1), so we didn't stop them.

Interesting. Now, I on the other hand would be absolutely shocked to learn a company as smart and successful as Disney had only one set of keys.

I on the other hand would even be more shocked if no CM saw the kids jumping from the boat to walk through the ride and even steal the keys and not stopping them.......:rolleyes1

I have heard it many times as well as at the beginning of the ride.

I don't think it is common sense. For many people it may be the first or only time they will visit WDW and be caught up in the excitment of the trip. They are trying to capture everything they can and simply don't think of what the flash will do.

So do you know why the attraction CM was yelling at them?

Common sense apparently needs to be renamed - because it seems to be not nearly as common as it should/used to be.

I assume the flashers fall into one of 3 categories - don't know, don't care, or oops, I forgot (to turn off the flash, it wasn't allowed, etc).
None of those seem like valid reasons.
"Don't know": whether it's not knowing a rule exists (and even if it's not on the website as Disneyland does, it's on park maps and attraction signage) or not knowing how to operate your camera or that its ideal flash range is six to ten feet, or that using flash in a dark ride negates the effect you were trying to capture - isn't a valid excuse.

Neither is being selfish, which is what "don't care" surely implies.

And, "oops, I forgot" may work for the first picture. May.

Don't know is a valid excuse. Not everyone pours over the Internet, discussion boards or even park maps before the trip. it may be common knowledge to people who have been around here for a long time but not in the real world.

It's been surmised in a number of posts that somebody who was supposed to be watching the boats, apparently wasn't. Or was asleep at the wheel. Or just wasn't paying attention. Or several other versions of "somebody goofed".

The OP has no reason to lie, and a PotC CM has already confirmed that the dog does, indeed, have a set of keys in its mouth this morning. I feel this supports my assumption.

I've got to say, that this is one of the meanest comments I've ever seen here on the Dis, and I'm sure there have been worse. Firstly, if you had read the comment properly, it was her sister, not the poster. Secondly, you could've phrased this comment a lot better. There is no need for insulting people and calling them selfish. Maybe, in her excitement, the sister didn't even hear the announcement (I know it's hard not to, but still).

Your overall comment was just rude, rude, rude. Also, how do you know it ruins the experience for everyone else? Have you talked to everyone else that is on the ride?

People who take FLASH photos on any dark ride SUCK! I know as I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night.

The comment could have been directed at the sister with the use of "you" being used in a more general way. I don't know, only the poster can answer that. The post could have certainly been phrased a little more kindly though.

A long time ago I took a few flash photographs in a dark ride elsewhere. I was using a camera in such a place for the first time and it didn't occur to me that it could be a problem. The pictures were awful because the flash only illuminated the edge of the ride vehicle and unfortunately a few people that were seated close by. I learned then that flash photography was pointless and pretty annoying. I didn't really know before then though.

That was the meanest post you ever saw on the Dis? You have not been on these boards for too long, have you?
This is sweet compared to some I've seen...

I agree. I also mentioned that the post could've been worded a little better.

I've been here for nearly three years, so no newbie here. That's why I said, "I'm sure there have been worse", as well as saying it was one of the meanest.
