Kids stole the keys from the dog at POTC

I can neither confirm nor deny the veracity of the op's claim. I can, however, verify that as of 8:30 this evening there were keys back in the dog's mouth.

Just to clarify though. 'Lift' is certainly possible on Tower of Terror. The 'drop' is powered, so it's not just gravity acting upon the ride vehicle.

When it's just gravity acting on you, it hits you the same as the ride vehicle, so you will still fall at the same rate.

I don't know specifically if the lift shown in that video is possible [or accurate], but it's still a good idea to wear the seatbelt.

Someone mentioned that the CMs are all over people for flash photography. I can honestly say I wasn't aware of that - my sister took a bunch of flash photos when we were there last month (we didn't know it wasn't allowed or she wouldn't have done it). No one said anything.

If I remember correctly, when going through the tunnels from scene to scene there's a ledge/walkway that's close enough to the boats that someone could step from one to the other. I'd imagine this is how they were doing it.

I have been on POTC and HM a bazillion times while people are using flash photography through the entire ride and have never once heard an announcement by a CM during the ride or anything said to that guest when getting off the ride. I am not saying that they do not ever say anything, but I dont think they care as much as the Disney defenders would have the rest of us believe.

I was watching a video from Jurassic Park at Universal and I love the way the employee was all over this guy for his video camera. I wish Disney would be like that in the dark rides.

They are there in case they have to evacuate the boats.

It is said at the beginning of the ride.

OP, I believe you but I am confused.

How did they not get in the water to get to the dog? Is the dog close enough to the boat to just hop up near the dog and snatch the keys?

God forbid someone fell out of a boat or got hurt and the CM's didn't see anything.

Yes. Part of that scene is near the boats.

I don't doubt that, we just didn't hear it. As I said, had we heard it, the photos wouldn't have been taken.

If they were able to, you would literally hear nothing but "no flash pictures" the entirety of your ride.

Never understood the need for flash anyway, in a large space like that the no flash setting gets better photos anyway.

No flash photography is definitely repeatedly announced before the ride, along with keeping hands and arms inside the boat, etc. The basic rule is if the attraction is indoors, no flash pictures. Common sense really.

While on PotC, I have heard CMs make "no flash photography" announcements, but it's very rare. It's very effective though. When they do actually do it, it almost always stops the problem.

As for the original post, assuming it is true, I suspect somebody was asleep at the wheel. I've heard CM announcements made when somebody was just putting their hand in the water, so I don't buy that somebody could do what these guys did without being detected, unless somebody wasn't paying attention.

I am sorry ....but its just common sense that you don't take flash photography in dark rides. It ruins the experiences for everyone else and shows how truly selfish you are. As an adult you shouldn't have to be told this You should know it!!

If anyone is in MK and on PoTC in the near future PLEASE ask one of the CM's if they did catch those teens. I think we'll all sleep a little better knowing the punks got caught.

This ride is one of DH's favorite rides to photograph. We have heard the general announcement of no flash photography as everyone is boarding the boats and we have seen several CMs (not all) tell individual guests they see with cameras. DH is always reminded, but he is a good photographer who knows and understands that his pictures will be better without the flash.

Sometimes, if I'm gutsy enough, I'll yell, "not only are you ruining the ride, but you are ruining your pictures by using that flash!" to people I see flashing on the ride.

:rotfl2:
Disney should replace all of the "no flash photography" announcements with this!!!:thumbsup2
