Kids stole the keys from the dog at POTC

Just curious how you would fake that (obviously, I nearly failed physics and have no idea about photoshop and such).

Angle control and forced perspective. The ride shot may well have just been them standing up.

However, something to remember when attempting to debunk that video is to realize that ToT is a powered drop and not a simple gravitic drop, so relative lift will occur when unsecured.

Ooh, look who knows so much! ;)

Back to the original post subject, I just asked my husband who works opening shifts at POTC if he had heard this and he confirmed that it happened. I asked if the people were caught and he said all he had heard was that the perpetrater was drunk. So take that as you may. :)

HOORAY. I'm sure they caught the guy then. There is no alcohol @ MK though must have came from a different park then I guess.

But this is all off topic, and I hereby pixiedust: summon Cyrano the Enforcer...

I agree. I also mentioned that the post could've been worded a little better.

I've been here for nearly three years, so no newbie here. That's why I said, "I'm sure there have been worse", as well as saying it was one of the meanest.

Does that mean they got the original keys back?

He could have also come from a surrounding monorail resort or snuck it in... it wouldn't be the first or last time I have heard of people bringing drinks into MK and not getting caught.

I can't comment on the ToT video but CoP .... we were in CoP in 2010 and it took forever to get through the show because they had to keep stopping because of people trying to leave midway through the scenes. When people are asked to remain in their seats, use seatbelts/lapbars (where applicable) and keep their hands, arms, feet and legs inside (yeah I know you hear it over and over) it's not Disney trying to ruin everyone's fun. There are reasons for these announcements and warnings. I am sure that some folk don't actually realize that CoP actually revolves :rolleyes2

Heard a story years ago about a young CM (I'm thinking it was a teenage girl) that was actually killed on CoP. I believe she was at the front corner where the microphone is and somehow got caught between those large moving walls between the scenes and was crushed. Not telling this as 100% fact...just something I've heard. Maybe someone can confirm or deny.

On the original topic, I'll be in MK in 2 weeks and Pirates is one of my favorite rides. I will certainly be asking CM's for any updates they may have.....and have my camera ready to take pictures of any idiots doing stuff like this (with my flash turned off of course!) ;)

If this drunkard is ever able to return to the park and has the gall to ride POTC again, I hope George gets him and gets him good. ;)

Ummm...for those doubting it, they do indeed stop the ride and ask for flash photography to stop. You can not believe me, but I've experienced it twice. Does it always happen? No. And the times it did, there were other riders yelling at people to stop.

We have asked people to stop on both POTC and HM...the ones who didn't know better stop immediately. Then there are those that basically stay "screw you" and keep doing it. This is when we begin to protest loudly.

Not sure why anyone would want this "rant" to stop. It's just silly to take flash photos on a dark ride....as a pp poster has said, it's not only ruining the ride for everyone else, it's going to produce a crappy photo.

:confused3 (Steps off soap box and apologizes for the "rant.")

I'm not entirely sure about that, but he did say there are keys there now. I got this information while he was on break, he said we could talk about it more later lol
Thank you for sharing your info with us. Hope they got the original keys back.

Now everyone you know that when you pass under the Welcome To Disney World sign, it sucks all Common Sense right out of everyone. ;)

How else could we explain the blatant loss of it that we see time and time again at the parks. :confused3

Does anybody else notice how Disney seems to be slipping on safety? We had the Soarin problem with the kids wiggling out of the restraints, then the adult almost getting away with having a kid on her lap on the same ride. Now this. I will always love WDW, but I think Disney is starting to slack.

Don't know is a valid excuse. Not everyone pours over the Internet, discussion boards or even park maps before the trip. it may be common knowledge to people who have been around here for a long time but not in the real world.

But they tell you when you get in the boat, No Flash Photography. People just need to listen.

Or they could have just brought it in with them. The guy we were with in February brought his own in - in his kids backpack. He got toasted in the eating area next to the counter service where they sell those waffle sandwiches? Such a happy moment when I found out. He must have slammed 6+ beers in the short amount of time we sat there eating our ice cream.

Hope the idiots were caught from POTC. And I really hope the camera operators get a friendly reminder to keep all eyes on the ride until the last boat is thru!!

I see what you are saying, but I tend to put the blame less on Disney and more on stupid people. You can't fix stupid and you can only plan for it so much. Disney expects people to behave like civilized human beings - and sadly, people seem hell-bent on disappointing them.

To be fair here, not everyone visiting disney is proficient in English, and that can be a very difficult hurdle to get over, since there's a fair chance the person wouldn't get why folks seem to be getting upset. I will concede that those cases are most likely a very small case of the incidents though :).

Although, there are a lot of people who just don't care. You can see several first-person perspective videos of rides on youtube that aren't actually allowed [at other parks primarily]. There's even a night-vision run through of Space Mountain [which isn't as interesting as it sounds].

The credit for the partial quote goes to Dean Wormer from Animal House:

"DRUNK AND STUPID IS NO WAY TO GO THRU LIFE".

I still hope they not only ban the person for life, and George beats the crap outa him.
