I hadn't sewn anything in a month and it was killing me. I had a few outfits in mind, but needed fabric and I haven't been able to go to the store. So, I just decided to make something with the fabric I already had. So, here's a Belle-ish outfit I just whipped up in a matter of minutes (okay, over the course of 1.5 days). I used the YCMT portrait peasant dress pattern and modified it for a shirt. Then, I made my own pattern for the jumper and apron.

Okay, now I need to catch up on the last day and a half.

Love the fabric combination and what you did with it!

Don't feel bad, I did that too a time or two when I first started doing applique. I'm very aware now to have the iron on the right setting and don't leave it in place for long when I iron before I'm ready to fuse it to the base fabric/garment. I still find that sometimes it just doesn't want to stick to denim in some areas. I've also noticed that certain fabric I use for the applique is more prone to not sticking than others. I figure as long as it holds long enough to get the stitching is complete, it's done it's job. LOL

So, speaking of applique... here's a little proof that I really was busy when I wasn't posting here for so long. LOL

WOW!!

I'm usually just lurking here, but I do try to keep up with all the posts. Well after being gone for a week, I'm finally caught up. Y'all have posted some great outfits!! I love all the Cinderella variations.

Here's why I've been away... and the reason I have been stocking up on Disney fabric since finding this board... my little princess is a week old today!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

I don't understand. Why should your daughter be in time out because other kids are jealous of her? That doesn't make any sense. Parents are so weird.

Megan dressed in play clothes (usually from Target) when she went to preschool because they played outside on the playground every day and did a lot of messy projects. There were some girls who wore dressy clothes and sandals that made me wonder how they ran around outside, but Megan is the type of kid who doesn't care. I can't imagine coming up to a parent and complaining about how their child is dressed, especially that it's too nice!

I do admit that M's kindergarten teacher is a sewer and appreciates the customs I made. She really made me smile when she told me after Thanksgiving she couldn't wait to see what I made her for Christmas! :lovestruc[/QUOTE]

Oh, I explained this wrong! The mother didn't think my daughter should be in time-out, her little girl did. The mother was just telling me that her daughter was jealous of Grace's clothes and that it was a new stage for her to be going through, the mother wasn't upset at all about it! I'm sorry if I explained it wrong! I definitely see how you got that from what I said! I just worry about other kids not wanting to be with Grace because of something like that. Grace is usually well behaved, well dressed and I don't want other kids to pick on her for being the "teacher's pet". I do get the impression from the teacher's aide that she definitely favors Grace so i do worry about that.

WOW! Incredible! I would LOVE to see the Pooh on Zoe!

I know it's awful but none of those outfits was for Zoe. She's become very particular about what I make for her so I stick to much simpler styles. I did make her a cute jean and tee set for Christmas but of course she got mud on it the first time she wore it and before I got photos. I finally got the stains out so need to have her wear them soon and get pics. I also made her a Christmas twirl skirt and appliqued turtleneck but the one time she wore them, I forgot to take pics. I'm bad, I know. :lmao:

BTW - The Pooh & Friends set is my current favorite. It was a lot of applique but well worth the effort. :)

Just a quick question do I have to have a certain amount of posts before I can post attachments or do I have to ask for permission to? I'm not very clear about that right now.
:welcome: I thought you wer t-beri at first because you have the same avatar. But, you're new!! Do you mean to post a picture? I don't know for sure how many posts you have to have to post pictures, but I'm pretty sure you have enough. If you use photobucket, just upload your picture, then copy and paste the code in the box that says "IMG code" into your reply.

Love the fabric combination and what you did with it!
Thank you! I forgot to mention that the white/blue is Pooh toile! I bought 5 yards of it when it was $2 at Walmarshay (thanks Tom) and Tessa decided she hated it. So, I hadn't used it. But, she loves it as a Belle outfit!

Okay ladies. Once the kids are back in school. I will try to post more pictures. I have almost 3 yards of really cute Disney fairies fabric. DD is almost 7 and I want to do something special with it. We are hoping for Disney this September. So it needs to be for summer(mind you it was 18 degrees here today). I have sewn since I was 8 but I have no idea how to do boutique. What do I do with it???

Oh, I am sorry, I truly did not mean to offend anyone. I am talking about kids that, at least from a teacher's standpoint, obviosly NOT taken care of. Not just hair brushing. I was just using that as an example. I was also meaning when they get to school. Goodness knows, my DD6 is a walking dirt magnet. She may go to school looking great, but coming home is another matter!:lmao: And, of course, I don't know what kind of battles the parent is facing--example kid throwing a fit wanting to pick out their own outfit, and parent choosing to pick their battles. I mean kids that you can tell their parents don't give a care to what the kid is doing or wearing. If they are clean or not. I was just saying, jealousy is a part of life at school, a bad part, yes, but a part. Why should a child be punished if they look nice and wear nice clothes? That is all I meant. I truly did not mean for my opinion to offend anyone. And I do know what they say about opinions.................:goodvibes

Am I forgiven??????

I wasn’t offended, but I agreed with camelotcats. I just hope someone doesn’t think I don’t brush my DD’s hair. It might not look like I do, but for about ½ hour, it looks good!

I agree, I wasn't offended, just pointing out a side a lot of people (like that social worker) might not consider. I HATE that no matter how long I spend on DD's hair, no matter what hair bows or ties or whatever I use, it looks like I did nothing to it 20 minutes later. Short hair on her is actually WORSE, too! :scared:

THe bus monitor felt so bad for me, she told me she tries to get DD not to rub her head on the bus seats so dd gets to school with nice hair, lol. i have tried buns, braids, pony tails, pig tails, etc, etc, etc. :confused3

For Ds, I just need to figure out how to get him to eat and keep most of his food off of his shirt, lol. He HAS gone to school a wreck because daddy let him eat breakfast wearing his uniform shirt, and I didn't catch it until too late. I'm soooo glad this year they have white uniform shirts! Last year, they were blue, and by this time last year, I had to buy all new shirts, the old ones looked so bad. Bleach is my friend, lol.

:laundy:

I'll give it a try and see what happens. I keep thinking that t-beri is me too sometimes.

Here is an apron that I made for DD. This is for her to wear to Epcot when we go in May.

Hopefully the link will work.

Don't feel bad, "someone" I know took the backing off the Heat and Bond and ironed it to the IRON :rolleyes1

Cindee

Ha Ha!!! Guess I don't feel so bad now!!! I have not had that happen yet!

Lisa, makes me feel better that even an expert seamstress had a similar problem!!! Your creations are just amazing as always. I would love to CASE them but they are far beyond my very rudimentary skill level!

Nicholas is just so darn cute!

BTW, I went to walmart yesterday and had the ariel fabric in my hand (from Anastasia's shirt) and couldn't for the life of me figure out what i might want to do with it. Of course I got home and saw your picture shortly after. It is perfect!

So cute and sweet! CONGRATULATIONS! :cheer2:

AND I just about want to KILL DH! He comes home tonight, a little before 8 and tells me his off! Tomorrow is an extra day off since he worked NYD and everyone else left and then he has the weekend off, we could have hopped in the car and gone to disney IF he had told me! He knows I Have been trying to find a time to do it too!

Here's Kirsta at Halloween. I asked her what she was doing, and she looked at me like I was a dummy. She was scrubbing the floor. Duh!! I should have her try it on next time I need the floor cleaned.

Add me to the "married my high school sweetheart" club! (I'm alredy one of the cool kids in the Class of 1987 club). We started dating when we were 16. We've been married for 16 1/2 years and together for 22!

Add me to the "Married my Highschool Sweetheart Club". In HS...1988 grad..., I had the boofy hair and he had the mullet. And it was a gorgeous mullet too! Naturally curly black hair, mustache and dark green eyes to go with. Ooh!

I also married my high school sweetheart. We met when we were 15 years old and have been together ever since (17 1/2 years). I've advertised the story of how we met before, but here it is again: http://www.geocities.com/heaths32/heathermethenry.html

Are you looking to make a dress that looks like Belle or a Belle inspired dress?

Can I be in the "married my HS sweetheart" club even if I divorced the a$$ 14 yrs ago?! :lmao:

Heather, I need to make a dress just like her blue one. Any ideas?

Lisa Zoe, That POOH is fabulous!!!!!

WOW! Incredible! I would LOVE to see the Pooh on Zoe!

Sorry, but dh has rubbed off on me and I keep snickering about the "pooh". Especially if it's on Zoe! :rotfl:

Here is an apron that I made for DD. This is for her to wear to Epcot when we go in May.

Hopefully the link will work.

OMG how original is that! :welcome: BTW!
