Girl, you are not helping! :lmao: And Gussy will have me in a D&B bag if she gets wind of any sort of splurging. I want one of those so badly. Guess I should have skipped the welcome basket and bought it for myself ;)

Tis true, she will egg that on for sure. It is a VERY nice welcome basket! Check out the cake thread. It's crazy!

I was thinking of ditching the peanut butter and jelly but I don't think I've ever been anywhere not in close proximity to peanut butter. Haha!

Sounds like you need an intervention. LOL! If you do get pastry in the park...just saying, I think they have the single serve PB there...and they should at AoA's food court.

Lol!!! I love it! In the hallway, in the dark, near the bathroom. That's a trip report title right there. Or a tag.

:rotfl2:

right up there with apparently now we are calling IT "coffee on the verandah"

Lol! The coffee is a good title too. Bwah ha ha!

I'm excited for their basket. It'll be fun to surprise them though Chloe kind of suspects I'll do something. Do the resorts still do the helium balloons for free? If so, I'll add some of those.

I do need a total intervention. It's so ridiculous. I'm on day 3 of parenting solo and have about 50 other things I should be focussing on. But the planning relaxes me in a weird way.

<------ shuffling over to the cake thread. I literally just thought: what's another $75 at this point?! Michael can blame you ;)

Oh great! That's just the impression I want him to have when I meet him. :rotfl2:

OKW had balloons decorating the check desk but none were offered to my kids. I did see some younger kids with them.

My kids expect something at this point too, they are just never sure what.

Think we spoil them? ;) What are you planning?

I think you have to call and they'll be in the room. That's what we did last time. Just a few cute helium balloons, nothing major, but a little pixie dust.

He's cool. He knows it's all me. I just blame the DIS. We're a bunch of addicts. One great idea sparks another and so on and so on. It's fantastic!!!!

I'm not planning anything at the moment for the kids. Have stuff I'd like to do but nothing actually booked or even discussed! I really need to do a couples trip of some sort before I plan another family one. In the meantime plotting big family stuff that's well over a year away and tentative a best. I think that's my problem, I need something to plan!

I am so sorry to hear about Fran. I hope that when she gets the super drug it truly is a super drug. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

She was on it for about a year before all this and it really helped, so hopefully by October she can have it again. Thanks for your concern.

:goodvibes I am so sorry Alison. I know how much you were looking forward to the October trip. :sad2: But it makes perfect sense not to go if she'll be feeling cruddy; neither of you will have a good time. I'll miss meeting you both but there's always Disneyland. I hope your January plans come to fruition. pixiedust: Sending healing vibes for Fran and some emotional spandex for you.

Shopping for 6 is proving to be labor intensive. I'm looking at $400 worth of groceries between I'm ordering and brining. That seems awfully high but then I reallize it's for 11 nights but still, that's with 9 dinner ADRs and a CS everyday. :scared1:

Yeah, she feels so awful I wouldn't even ask her to go out to dinner!

Your plans look real good. Nice balance of park and resort time. I would be lost shopping for more than two. When we went with my parents in 2010 we soooooo over bought! :lmao:

I am so sorry to read this

Thanks! I wish I could have gone to your R&K meet. I just put 2+2 together and realized you're on scottny's TR, and that was your DISmeet you invited folks to.

You both are amazingly organized. I'm starting to plan less and less since all my trips keep getting canceled when I go next I'll end up with no groceries and no ADRs!

Couples trip to where? I always need something to plan too.

Michael asked me where I wanted to go for our 20th. I said: water, heat, sun, sand, booze, and good food. He said cool and he'll plan the whole thing. :woohoo: I think he's afraid I'd incorporate Disney somehow. :lmao: I'm thinking, he's thinking Spain or Greece. I'd be elated with either. Hawaii would be amazing too.

I'm sure you'll make it to Disneyland for a nice weekend before January. :) I know we all tell you this, like a bunch of nags, but don't forget to take care of YOU.

Don't be fooled by the image I display, I've got scraps of Disney notes everywhere. My nightstand is a disaster. ::yes:: I use a real pencil with paper. I'm a mess.

I think I'll plan less when it's just Michael and I but I'm always so unnecessarily worried about the darn kids.

I did get a massage last week. I don't know of you saw it on my PTR, but I'm demanding two days in a row where I do nothing of a housework nature, no eBay shipping, no boxing up music or heavy lifting. I plan to catch up on my TRs (both the ones I'm reading and writing), take baths (the weather needs to cool down some tho) and stay in bed until noon.

We actually don't have any DL overnights planned, unless they let our band play in November, but last year they told us this was the last year that they would make an exception for our group. They want everyone to arrive in a bus like school kids, at the same time with our instruments on the bus and our "costumes". That just won't happen with an adult community band. In fact a lot of our players don't even go into the park after we play, they just go home. So I will probably cancel the November nights 31 days out. Our next VGC trip is for April if they bring back F&W. If not I'll cancel that too.

We are taking a trip to Buellton in September with the car club we just joined in that fancy schmancy new car we bought. Can't bring a lot of luggage! :lmao: Next "real" vacay will be on the Wonder in three months.

What all counts is when you get there that you have a good time. It sounds like things are planned well enough that you will. The one thing I didn't think about on our trip where we over purchased was that we ended up with leftovers from some of our meals, because my parents aren't much into sharing. We ate at Fulton's and I had crab leftover which I made into cream cheese crab dipand we are it with tortilla chips and crudite, that filled us up on one night that we just foraged in the fridge for the rest of dinner because everyone was too full for hot dogs and beans!

If nothing else, I have heard that housekeeping can put unopened food in their break room to share. And the bellmen always appreciate "leftover beer" if there is such a thing!

Well I'm not sure it's "my" meet per-se, it was kind of a collective that formed and picked the date lol but it would have been lovely to have you there. I hope Jan can work out for your reschedule. And the good news will be no crowds!

Oh man, I would LOVE any of those. Although I can't go to HI again until we take the kids, it just wouldn't be cool. With college tuition and everything else though...San Diego may be as far as we can afford to run away to. We will see. We'd love to go to NOLA but the flights are high, at least they are if we are trying for a cheapo getaway. Sad part is we could totally do a DLR spring break trip for the 4 of us for super cheap if I could get into GCV (which at 7 months, for those dates, I'm pretty sure I could). But...I do not dare bring it up till we get a couples trip in. I know my husband's priority right not and it isn't a family trip to Disney lol!

Okay, that sounds like I'm planning to go with you. LOL!!!!!!! Too funny to edit though.

That sounds heavenly. I laugh at my So Cal friends who are miffed with the warm weather. I tell them on my FB: there is a beach. Go to it. ;)

The Wonder will be a fabulous vacation and with as much or as little rest as you want. :thumbsup2 I'm so excited for you guys. Where the Wonder travel to?

Mmmm....crab dip. :cloud9: I'm ordering some hotdogs and brats for lunch by the pool one day. I think AKV and there's a grill nearby. :thumbsup2 There is something about grilled hotdogs by the pool. I love it.

If nothing else, I have heard that housekeeping can put unopened food in their break room to share. And the bellmen always appreciate "leftover beer" if there is such a thing!

In 2007 we gave bell services our leftover beer. We had leftover beer. We alos had limes with unopened chips and salsa. They weren't too upset.

Do it!!! Get a couple's trip on paper and then go to Disneyland. It's just a timing issue. ;) The couple's trip can be planned before but take place after. :woohoo: Jenna and her family are thinking of coming out next June which means we'll do Disneyland for sure. I'm going to look into the GCV at the 7 month mark as soon as she decides her dates. :ssst:

now that you mention it, it does! I'd love to take Jeff to either Greece or Spain, he's never been.

Have you to been either?

 Hola amiga, que pasa?

How is Disneyland's F&W? I haven't read too much about it.

Pales in comparison. By a landslide. We went in 2010 and were SOOOO dissapointed. Everything is set up as a "station" for the beer and wine, you have to go into a section, show ID, and taste there, no walking around. Food specials seems mostly limited to extra items at the restaurants and CS locations. I'd been so excited that our trip would be during it and it was really a nothing if you ask me. Jeff was particularly crabby about it as he didn't want to drag the E's into the tasting areas...so we didn't.

The Wonder will be a fabulous vacation and with as much or as little rest as you want. :thumbsup2 I'm so excited for you guys. Where the Wonder travel to?

Ahh, Palo, the Spa...Palo, the Spa....it will be heavenly!

Nearby is relative. The grill is over by the tennis courts I think. Technically closer to Kidani than Jambo but it's out, across the street/parking lot to get there. I didn't actually see them live mind you but did walk by where they are supposed to be.

Oh it is, the couples trip HAS to be planned, and even booked, first. We are both jonesing for it, just need to figure it out somehow. Jeff wants it to be in Dec though, which could be a challenge! I may just book GCV anyway at 7 months so we have it...just in case.

Have you to been either?

Yep. But it was a bazillion years ago. Band trip and then post college trip to Greece, hit Spain on the post college trip as well. magical places!! And some good stories about both. :rotfl: Jeff really wants to take me to Australia, technically that is supposed to be "next" but affording it is a whole 'nother story, plus leaving the kids for that long a different ball of wax at this age, as we'd want to do it in the (our) winter.

Oh and Cynthia, that cake thread is deadly. :stir:

Yes, yes it is. But...memories of a lifetime. That said, I have heard the Publix ones are quite good and believe you may see pictures of those over there as well!

Wow, maybe that's why I hadn't heard of it. Sounds a little dull compared to WDW. I'm so looking forward to my first and hopefully not last F&W.

But really, what, a 5 minute walk tops? It's funny how on vacation if it's not super close by, it appears faaaaar. Neither M or I have any issues walking to the grill and then bringing it to the pool. :thumbsup2 I'll see if I can find a map of sorts. When we grill our tri tip the BBQ we'll be right down and out the THV stairs. :woohoo: That's one meal I'm looking most forward to. I'll have Jenna bring the vino. :cloud9: Should be nice and stuffed for MNSSHP.

Just in case. ;) Reminds me, I worked with a girl years ago whose last name was Case. She named her Justin. :rotfl:

How cool! I've heard both are amazing with beautiful beaches, which is the most important to me. Let's hear the stories though I'm thinking they might not be G rated. popcorn::

My friend spent 3 weeks in Austrailia over NYE last year and she said it was such a beautiful place but it rained a ton. It wasn't quite what she expected but she's also a party girl. She stayed in a condo and missed the energy that a hotel provides. She'd go again but only if she stayed in a hotel. And she said it was very expensive once there. Even more than Hawaii. :scared1:

Yes, yes it is. But...memories of a lifetime. That said, I have heard the Publix ones are quite good and believe you may see pictures of those over there as well!

I found a cute cake for Chloe that just needs a little decoration tweaking. I emailed the pic to Kelly. Thanks for the idea to check their site.

That sounds heavenly. I laugh at my So Cal friends who are miffed with the warm weather. I tell them on my FB: there is a beach. Go to it. ;)

I live at the beach, 4th and Temple. I was at our 1st and Lindero property property yesterday dealing with a car with a dead battery and it was HOT!

How is Disneyland's F&W? I haven't read too much about it.

Different people will give you different answers. Those who are expecting Epcot's F&W will hate it. This is a festival for the locals, and it's designed to be a huge cash infusion for Disney. It's largely designed around the signature events. From the $450 Cooking school to the Friday night dinners at Steakhouse 55 that run about $150pp.

Our stupid food police and restrictive liquor laws make the kiosks impossible. I do find it fun trying the different offerings from the CS places during the festival, and the celebrity demos got me out to the park a little more often than normal. It's definitely nothing like Epcot's festival, but I sure enjoyed it asa change from the every day Disney.

The Wonder will be a fabulous vacation and with as much or as little rest as you want. :thumbsup2 I'm so excited for you guys. Where the Wonder travel to?

It's going to the Mexican Riviera, but we may not even get off the boat. She can't in Cabo. It's tendering there and there's no way she can do that. PV is docked, but who knows how far she can go on the scooter. There isn't an ADA in Mexico! Did you sign on my PTR for that one?

Mmmm....crab dip. :cloud9: I'm ordering some hotdogs and brats for lunch by the pool one day. I think AKV and there's a grill nearby. :thumbsup2 There is something about grilled hotdogs by the pool. I love it.

From what I've read the grills are fairly remote, but they are there.

In 2007 we gave bell services our leftover beer. We had leftover beer. We alos had limes with unopened chips and salsa. They weren't too upset.

We only have sodas, there is no such thong as leftover wine.

Oh and Cynthia, that cake thread is deadly. :stir:

I'm not even going to peek at it!

Yep. But it was a bazillion years ago. Band trip and then post college trip to Greece, hit Spain on the post college trip as well.

You were in Band? Do you force it on your kids? The only reason I ask is that we have operated a music store for over 10 years, Wind Muzic Plus, and we are essentially shutting the doors, today. We are giving killer deals on music right now, so if either if your kids okay, I would cut you a killer deal.

We are the ultimate band/music geek family :rotfl2: I did jazz band, stage band, concert band, marching band and vocal jazz (clarinet, keyboard base, bells/mallets and alto lol)

Jeff did jazz, stage and concert band, all trumpet

Taylor plays guitar, drums, sings and composes. He is a digital music major at SPU about to start his sophomore year.

Kendall (HS 11th grade) is in choir

Evan (8th grade) plays trombone in jazz band and hopefully wind ensemble. We will find out next weds if he made it in, if not he will be in Symphonic Band. He takes lessons.

Eric (6th) plays the trumpet and piano, he does lessons for piano.

no forcing needed around here :goodvibes I am so sad you are having to close, that breaks my heart.

Taylor's out of town so I can't get a hold of him but if stuff is on a web site, I'd have the boys take a peek as I'm sure they'd love some new music!

How are your plans coming along? I need to catch up. I've been knocked out on muscle relaxers for the past few days.

I am finally buying airfare today.

Oh and I agree Jenny, the cake thread is deadly. I've already ordered 2 cakes.

I'm sure. My friend was at Disneyland two weeks ago and it was 105* in Anaheim. She didn't belive me when I told her they'd be miserable. She spend over $350 just on admission plus another who-knows-how-much and they didn't last even 6 hours. :scared1:

It's always sweltering here in the summer. So Cal summers, even hot ones, are better than Utah summers. Now that we have the boat and visit the lake a lot, they're much more palpable.

That sounds nice but very expensive. I like the option of food booths and more choices though I haven't been, I think I'm going to love it. Disneyland's sounds much more locals orientated and not something people would travel specifically for but if they're there during that time, it's a bonus.

Our stupid food police and restrictive liquor laws make the kiosks impossible. It sounds like a nice change from everyday Disneyland especially if you live close and can afford the extra experience. :thumbsup2

I don't think I read that in your PTR. Yeah Mexico doesnt have ADA. You might fare better on the nice quiet ship while everyone leaves anyway. It sounds heavenly.

Atta girl!

I'm not even going to peek at it!

It's pretty fantastic but I'm totally unimpressed with the frozen Sara Lee decorated cakes. But there are some beautiful cakes.
