I want a new tag too. It's been a while and I am jonesing for a new one!

I'm 99.9% sure the elusive tag fairy isn't hanging out here on a 500+ day thread. :rotfl:

I'll send it soon. :goodvibes

So here's my newest dilemma......groceries and do I get one or two deliveries? With an 11 night stay, I'm thinking I should have two but don't want to pay the fee twice. ;) But I'm afraid fruit, bread, and milk will stay less than fresh as well as having to freeze and defrost meat. :confused3 I'm also not sure when to get her cake delivered? M thinks I'm nuts. Jenna said she'd take us to the store our first full day but im not sure ill be able to drag anyone away from the parks? I'm scouring the boards for a decent grocery list. I'm thinking that I can pack some stuff. Southwest allows two bags checked in for free. We have to pay for all bags with United on the way home. I'm thinking of checking a foldable duffle for on the way there with non perishables like micro popcorn, instant hot cocoa, coffee, beef jerky, etc....

I'm working with MemoriesByBetsy on a cute arrival gift basket. I did separate gifts for our first trip and we got them when we checked into the POR. I'm not sure if I should do them AoA night or first THV night? I'm thinking THV because it's less to hassle with but the AoA is our first night and I want Chloe's friend to have her first time button but I think we can get one on Main St.

I am with you on not wanting to pay for two different deliveries but fruit is something I would need to purchase twice.

I did a gift basket for my mom in 2007 for her 70 birthday. I did it through Disney so I paid premium price on it. But you know what? It was a thrill for her and everybody else for that matter. It made it worth the expense. The tag is a benevolent being but even so the cannot be on every thread darn it!!;)

Greedy people! SOME of us don't have a single tag!

then again, I'm just not that funny.

:rotfl:

I packed quite a bit the year we did Fort Wilderness. If I could bring a free bag full of that stuff, I'd be all over it! I've been told that bell services does a great job of moving perishables, people have moved both fridge and freezer items. I've never tested it mind you but may be in Oct as my order is so small there is no sense having 2. I can't see the whole family wanting to go to the store, in fact the idea of dragging my family with me to it is enough to make me want to pull my hair out. I can't recall how many meals out you have but it seemed like a lot at the villa so yeah, it could be more groceries than you can even fit. I'd definitely pack as much as possible into that first order that was movable, you may not go through as much or as fast as you think. That happened to us and add leftovers from restaurants and you might be able to skip that 2nd delivery.

tough call....

I'd definitely do that cake at the villas. You won't even be at AoA for 24 hours, will want to swim and eat and then sleep and move. Dealing with a cake that might not get fully eaten in one sitting and then moving it would be a bigger hassle than it's worth.

Pretty sure AoA can give her a 1st visit button though.

The 22nd works too. I thought maybe I was mixed up. I added it to the updated itinerary. My brain is fried. M's schedule is insane the next four weeks and the panic is setting in. I'm not a great single parent. ;) In fact, I suck at it. :guilty: He starts a 96* hour shift tomorrow which is just horrible. He will be home next Friday and Saturday. He leaves for Africa on the 2nd until late the night of the 14th. He's home the 15th. Back at the FD the 16th and then off to a photoshoot on the 17th until the night of the 21st. Back to the FD for a 48* on the 22nd and then home on the 24th. Can you imagine?! I'll be tagging along though to Nantucket on Sept 18 and we'll fly home together the 21st. ::yes:: I'm the horrible mother whose ditching her kids during the third week of school.

Oh please, your kids are old enough for you to ditch! M's schedule sounds brutal, you'll need those Nantucket days to reconnect! 22nd might be better only from an eating standpoint for me but either is ok.

I didn't have the Juicy ones but had some decent Kohl's ones. :lmao: I have traveled in them too. I love me some valour. That's a little embarrassing to say. I like dresses too. With a little cardigan for the plane. But my favorite is jeans on the plane with a t shirt and zipper hoodie. :cloud9: I'm such a jeans person. And flip flops, always flip flops but I carry a pair of socks on me because I can't stand to have cold feet. I think I sound high maintanence. ;)

I do the same thing with socks! that's basically what I wore on the last trip...except they were bermuda length jean shorts. And my lucy jacket didn't have a hood. :lmao:

Kelly wrote me back. :thumbsup2 I think I'm going to do the groceries and cake from her and gift basket from Betsy unless Kelly's price is better. I wonder if they travel to the parks for items? I'd love to include the WS passports. Betsy gave me some cute ideas.

Fairly sure Kelly will get stuff from the parks, not sure about Betsy. I'd be curious to see how their prices end up comparing.

I think I might get some very unripe green bananas. Those should last a few days before ripening if I keep the cool. The kids love frozen blueberries so I'll get those, freeze them, and keep them off limits until the second half of our stay. Apples stay good a while so I'll do 2 kinds. Then I asked for cheap local fruit. My list is huge. :rotfl: I hate an empty fridge.

That's cool you got her one through Disney? What was in it?

Betsy ain't cheap but so far we've got:
Fireman Mickey coffe mug (DH)
2 Mickey sketch pads (Chloe and her bestie)
Star Wars bath toys (Joshua loves his bubble baths :lmao:)
Halloween Mickey and Minnie plush toys (Chloe and her bestie)

I need one more thing for Joshua and two things for Gabby :confused3 She's tough. And picky. I wanted Epcot passports but she charges $9.95 each and they'reDuffy and come with a pin. I want the free plain ones so we'll wait. ;)

I'm looking into October 13-16. It'll just be my mom and I. We will most likely do MNSSHP. I'm still debating resorts. My choices include: a moderate, Grand Floridian, or Beach Club.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Yay!! When do you want to meet? :hyper: I choose GF! :thumbsup2

Oh please, your kids are old enough for you to ditch! M's schedule sounds brutal, you'll need those Nantucket days to reconnect! 22nd might be better only from an eating standpoint for me but either is ok.

Kelly offered more like a snack bag welcome, not personal so I'm going to stick with Betsy. I'm not spending $55 on gummie candy and pretzels. ;)

22nd it is! :thumbsup2

Ugh on that passport charge! Gabby is at a tough age for "disney" stuff. K had souvie money but it went to stuff like a cute sundress...and a necklace that reminded her of something we did on the trip, but not technically "disney". Hmnn....

List looks good, will she do the alcohol? I thought she couldn't do that part.

If you haven't tried the purell 3 in 1 sheets, I highly reccomend them for travel. They do a decent job and take up SO much less space. That is a lot of liquid and breakables to check. If it were me I'd probably get the vodka in a plastic bottle, check that along with anything else plastic and have Kelly get anything in a glass container. I'd still stick stuff in ziplocs though to mitigate any explosions. Your pancake mix, chips and ramen might get smashed. Don't forget coffee filters! I hate an empty fridge too but I also hate wasting food. Some of that stuff they will sell at the resort if you are concerned about overdoing it in some areas. I was amazed at how much AKL had. I didn't look that close at OKW but it was a pretty decent selection at AKL (Jambo, didn't check at Kidani) especially compared to Vero.

That's a lot of sugar on that list. :lmao: 2 containers of fluff? I'm impressed 2 gallons of milk would last you 11 dyas. The E's have turned into milk vultures, I've been going through 2 per week!

Kelly offered more like a snack bag welcome, not personal so I'm going to stick with Betsy. I'm not spending $55 on gummie candy and pretzels. ;)

I wouldn't either. Granted, I probably spent that on pins before I was done. :lmao:

I sent her the list. She's pricing it out. She didn't say anything about no booze. :confused3

I'm going to do a chunky hidden Mickey ring for Gabby. And I'm adding in a AKV coffee mug for myself. :thumbsup2

You're right, AKV has a decent store. Like the Baggie idea. Hmm....and filters, good! And no glass. Good thinking. Thank goodness you're here. :rotfl: No really. I'd be carrying glass and there would be a major explosion. :scared: Did they have fruit? Was it decent?

That's a lot of sugar on that list. :lmao: 2 containers of fluff? I'm impressed 2 gallons of milk would last you 11 dyas. The E's have turned into milk vultures, I've been going through 2 per week!

I didn't realize the lack of sugar until you pointed it out. We really don't eat a ton of sweets. You missed the cookie dough though. ;) The fluff and cream cheese mixed together make the best fruit dip ever. I mix 2 fluff to 1 cheese.

Mine don't really drink full glasses of milk and I doubt they will on vacation. They'll use it for cereal and cookies but they drink a ton of water. I think it's still going to be warm in mid October. Our milk consumption drops drastically in the warmer months. It skeeves me out unless it's over cereal or with some cookies.

I wouldn't either. Granted, I probably spent that on pins before I was done. :lmao:

My basket is at $207 and some change before my mug. :rotfl2: But now I'm going to bring my own colored pencils. They are so cheap right now. They'll be back up to $5 a box by then and after back to school. Betsy can't do food items she said.

Maybe I'll PM DawnMarie on FB and see if she can grab me 4 Passports?

Me too!! I keep saying to Michael: Phuket, I'm going to Nantucket! I think he's ready to throttle me. :lmao:

You're welcome!!

I am sure that he will be! It is so hard when you are worrying about a loved one. It wears on you. You need to make sure you take care of yourself.

Is that a new tag I see?

Yes a bunch of us are following this gal on the CB, she has been in a war for her tags for a few years now. She asked for all of us on the thread to get Boo Boo tags.

Got your email. I'm going to have DH email it to me and I'll forward it to you. It's not long, just 2.5 pages but so beautiful. I think you guys will like it. :goodvibes

At some point twhen life is not so hectic I will like to read it.

I'm so happy she's healing! That's terrific! And a dose of a super drug would be fabulous pre trip.

I'm looking forward to it too. October seems like a fantastic month for WDW.

ooooo it's purdy! What thread Alison? I think I need anew tag too. But I don't want to give up my current ones. I love them so. I'm attached and hate change. Even tag change.

I hope that she can get a super drug before we go, but she has to heal up all the way before she can get it. If you going the Boo Boo Sparkly tag thread you will give up your old tags for the new one. It's on the CB in the regular WDW location. I can't imagine it would dip much below the first page because they are posting like 20 pages a day. I have so much to catch up on in the morning.

So here's my newest dilemma......groceries and do I get one or two deliveries? From what you say, I would think you wanted two deliveries, that way you have fresh fruit and stuff.

Where did you get that cake made????? Its gorgeous!

The bakery at the BC/YC. Went through the cake hotline, got put in contact with the bakery directly, chatted, then emailed pictures of my 3 ideas and this is the one we landed on. It was amazing! And the cake was actually quite tasty, though the fondant itself is a little odd. It was HUGE! You can get them done and delivered at resorts that have their own bakeries, either to rooms or the restaurants that are at those resorts. So basically custom cakes can come out of the following locations.

Boardwalk
BC/YC
GF
Contemporary
AKL

I think that's it.

I sent her the list. She's pricing it out. She didn't say anything about no booze. :confused3

Nothing better than drinking out of a REAL mug on vacation, not the ones in the villa kitchen. Good idea on the ring.

I didn't look for fruit but am sure they do, question is what the prices are like though. I was focused on rum, mickey bars, pancake mix, butter and syrup. LOL!

I didn't realize the lack of sugar until you pointed it out. We really don't eat a ton of sweets. You missed the cookie dough though. ;) The fluff and cream cheese mixed together make the best fruit dip ever. I mix 2 fluff to 1 cheese.

LOL! Ok to me that was a lot of sugar, which is what I meant. Between the cookie dough and the fluff and lucky charms. LOL! Perfect vacation food.

That seems really high for what's in that basket!

How did the appointment go? :goodvibes

I'm working on my ever changing grocery list. Jenna offered to take us to the store on our first full day but with 'Ohana reservations at 5:00 for the 11 of us, I don't see us having time during the day. We'll be checking out of AoA and into the THV. That right there will take some time. But the 20% fee but delivery is going to be expensive.

I agree. It does seem high. I just got a 25% off coupon for Disney parks shopping. I might be able to do it cheaper and sneak it to bell services to be delivered with our luggage at the THV though it wouldn't be arrival night which is what I prefer or carry it on somehow. :confused3 I thought it seemed high. She's already started working on it but I'm guessing until she PayPals me, I'm under no obligation? I'm going to go online and price it out and see what the price is.

I agree, nothing like coffee out of a real mug. I love the ceremony of it. It just feels right!

Can I ask how much that cake cost? If not, pretend I didn't ask. ;)

I want to see Kelly's quote too. Her 20% with a delivery fee is going to be $$$. I just need to weigh out our time shopping vs her charges. I hate this stuff. :crazy2: :rotfl:

Really, you think that's a lot of sugar? I guess it doesn't include all the delicious park garbage we'll consume.

Nothing better than drinking out of a REAL mug on vacation, not the ones in the villa kitchen.

What'a super drug?

I have to agree on the mugs, all the Villa mugs are so small, you're constantly refilling it! I have a mug in my OL.

As far as the super drug, about 15 years ago they started releasing these new arthritis drugs. She has taken just about all of them, but basically they control the arthritis by supressing the immune system. The latest drug, Actemera, supresses the il6 (interluken 6), which unfortunately is required for the sores on her leg to heal. So right now she is taking a drug that has been used for over 70 years. The problem is that it is for mild to moderate cases, and she is severe. So we must wait until she is completely healed before she can go back to the super drug.

You won't, unless you want to give up your park day, or most of it. The reality is moving resorts easily loses an hour, and up to 3 depending on how you do it. By the time you pack up, get stuff to bell services, even if you go straight to a park you still have to then check in at the new resort and get settled so the whole process is an hour at least, on the very short side. I find when we move resorts we end up with at best a half day to play and the rest is moving, eating and getting settled.

[I agree. I'm going to go online and price it out and see what the price is.

you might want to tell her to hold off as you are considering some changes so she doesn't actually purchase anything. But yeah, utnil you get an invoice you aren't really obligated.

Seems to me at most with what you describe you've got $100 worth of items. Even if you bought it all separately and shipped it directly to the resort it'd be less than what she is quoting. I'd probably try to go that route if you can find everything you want online. You can pack wrapping supplies, I did that in 2009 lol.

I agree, nothing like coffee out of a real mug. I love the ceremony of it. It just feels right!

I want to see Kelly's quote too. Her 20% with a delivery fee is going to be $$$. I just need to weigh out our time shopping vs her charges. I hate this stuff. :crazy2: :rotfl:

Really, you think that's a lot of sugar? I guess it doesn't include all the delicious park garbage we'll consume.

nah, not really, just giving you a hard time! Here's what I'd do.

Mock up the order using garden grocer, it will give you a good feel for your total cost. Kelly, with her service fee comes in about the same it's just far more personalized with brands, sizes etc. You might find things you can tweak or change. If it helps, here is my list, I paid $166.

I should have the cake info at home. I "think" $75 plus service and delivery. Not cheap. But it was split between 5 of us so not bad and totally worth it.

try this link and this link, they have some good info on how to start the process. Ours fell under the "fancy fondant" category. LOL!

I'm in yet another boring meeting but just wanted to say, wow, thank you Cynthia! Great info and I need to be far more specific with my requests! I'll be back to give a proper response to such a terrific reply. :teeth:

With all that food did you folks eat all your meals in the villa? I'm guessing you had a lot of kids with you with all the peanut butter and jelly and loaves of bread.

The only problem I have with ordering groceries is that I am so picky about the fresh food that we get.

Well I went overboard, I imagine there is a happy medium somewhere :rotfl:

Our list was the first one only. We ate 5 breakfasts in the room, 2 dinners and 3 lunches over the course of our 11 night trip but we also had one smaller additional grocery trip and one small "filler" run to the DVC store at Vero. I will say that list lasted us longer than I was expecting but we bought a couple more meals than planned too which changed things a bit.

I hear you there, it's why I was so specific on certain items.

I guess you would have to be specific.
