I have to agree on the mugs, all the Villa mugs are so small, you're constantly refilling it! I have a mug in my OL.

As far as the super drug, about 15 years ago they started releasing these new arthritis drugs. She has taken just about all of them, but basically they control the arthritis by supressing the immune system. The latest drug, Actemera, supresses the il6 (interluken 6), which unfortunately is required for the sores on her leg to heal. So right now she is taking a drug that has been used for over 70 years. The problem is that it is for mild to moderate cases, and she is severe. So we must wait until she is completely healed before she can go back to the super drug.

I agree, the villa mugs are tiny. Do the DVC resorts use filters of coffee pods?

:goodvibes Praying for a quicker healing so she can have some super drug. I think our bodies grown semi-immune too to the really old drugs.

You won't, unless you want to give up your park day, or most of it. The reality is moving resorts easily loses an hour, and up to 3 depending on how you do it. By the time you pack up, get stuff to bell services, even if you go straight to a park you still have to then check in at the new resort and get settled so the whole process is an hour at least, on the very short side. I find when we move resorts we end up with at best a half day to play and the rest is moving, eating and getting settled.

You're right! Jenna is sweet enough to offer but there are 5 of them so their list will be über long too. We weren't all planning on going. We were going to send the men while we swim with the kids. We're givers like that. :rotfl: But it'll be nice to check in the THV at 4:00 and have bell service bring all that. Hmmm......the only issue is we've got a 5:00ish at 50's for the 11 of us but I'm thinking bell service won't just pop on over in 10 minutes so maybe we'll each check in to our respective resorts, get settled, and then meet up for EMH and a CS DHS? I really don't want to miss 50's. It's one we've wanted to try and one we can easily share at plus it looks like a total blast. The only way it would work is if we could check in an hour early to the THV which is not likely and I can't count on it. What to do? Ideas?

you might want to tell her to hold off as you are considering some changes so she doesn't actually purchase anything. But yeah, utnil you get an invoice you aren't really obligated.

We figured it out. I used my Disney 25% off with free shipping and am having most things shipped to her. She's buying the coffee mugs and sketch pads. I'm sending her, from here, the colored pencils. She's going to combine it all into one big basket and deliver it to AoA on our first night. I just have to have it arrive on the first night. I'm a dork like that. Bell services will only have to deal with a little in the morning as we're having our actual luggage sent to the THV so we don't have to deal with even looking at it for a night. That'll save me tipping twice too. Speaking of tipping.....do you tip the guy who delivers the bags or takes the bags? I always tip the deliverer $1 per bag and give the guy who takes a little less.

Seems to me at most with what you describe you've got $100 worth of items. Even if you bought it all separately and shipped it directly to the resort it'd be less than what she is quoting. I'd probably try to go that route if you can find everything you want online. You can pack wrapping supplies, I did that in 2009 lol.

I agree, nothing like coffee out of a real mug. I love the ceremony of it. It just feels right!

Betsy charges heavy for delivery. Like $40 for the delivery, the basket, and wrapping. I'm getting a Lady mug and DH is getting a firefighter Mickey mug. His broke his last year so he'll be so happy. He loved that mug. :thumbsup2

nah, not really, just giving you a hard time! Here's what I'd do.

Mock up the order using garden grocer, it will give you a good feel for your total cost. Kelly, with her service fee comes in about the same it's just far more personalized with brands, sizes etc. You might find things you can tweak or change. If it helps, here is my list, I paid $166.

Good idea! Does GG give you an actual quote or do you just use their list? Kelly uses Publix and Target. I find Target here is very expensive for groceries. I'm sure she'll get my cake from Publix. I hear they have a wonderful bakery.

(1)Tostitos Tortilla Chips Restaurant Style with Lime 13.5oz Bag
(1) Old El Paso or Rosarita Refried Black Beans low fat 16oz Can (really prefer the black beans versus regular refried if possible) Other brands ok.

Holy mother, you're specific! :lmao: Mine was so vague she probably wants to shoot me. I did email and said I should be more specific with brands but have no idea what's available out there. I don't want to say Tillamook cheese and have Kraft end up cheaper. Can I say brands and then ask she get the least expensive of the brands? No wonder she charges 20%. I'm a pita and I'm sure there are more like me. :hyper:

I'd suggest you pack these. I'd also suggest a test pack to make sure it fits and line the thing with bubble wrap and ziploc away. LOL! it will save $$ and time though.

Spices
Ramen
Ranch packet*
Jerky
Hot cocoa
Mac n cheese
decaf
Lucky Charms
Honey Bunches of Oats
Micro popcorn
Pasta
Fluff x 2 (plastic container)
Mini marshmallows

Vodka, whatever is on sale but not generic ;-) Stoli, Smirnoff, Grey Goose.....(plastic bottle)

Red potatoes
Peanut butter- smooth (plastic container)
Grape jelly (plastic container)
Small ketchup (plastic container)
Small mustard (plastic container)
Salsa (plastic container)
Syrup (plastic container)

Thank you for mentioning plastic and the 3 in 1 sheets. I've never even seen or heard of them. I didn't even think about glass being heavy and it could easily break. :headache: You're kids don't drink juice boxes? Mine are junkies! Plus I'm not pouring out or saving half glasses of juice that never get finished and just end up being spilled all ove the fridge.

and order, or buy these as they are breakable or perishable. Since you don't need meat the first night, is there another day Jenna could run you to the store? So for example if you got everything but meat and beer though Kelly, that might get the $$ down to a reasonable amount for delivery and let you pick what you want on those items but still get the bulk of the food there your first full day to make for a nice first THV morning.

That's a good idea. You know how time seems to get away from you on vacation? You wake up one day and you're on day 7 some how? That always happens to us. I'm sure Jenna would take us any day we want, she's so sweet, but I always find a it headache to leave and come back blah blah blah. I'm not into wasting money but sometimes convenience pays. Plus, here's where a little of the control freak in me rears it's ugly, mostly hidden head: I don't like to be tied to anyone's else's time schedule. You doing the Photopass is great but when it comes to my actual time, I'm a freak.

Eggs x 2
Bacon x 3
Bread- white x 2
Butter- 2 packs of quarters or one big pack, whatever is cheapest
Bananas, 2 bunches, some super green and hard

Celery, one pack
2 lb bag shredded cheddar or mixed Colby Jack
Sugar free cran juice
Bloody Mary mix
Green olives

Prego*

I should have the cake info at home. I "think" $75 plus service and delivery. Not cheap. But it was split between 5 of us so not bad and totally worth it.

The cake is phenomenal. I bet she was so surprised too.

I hate my lists and need to make them again with specifics.

try this link and this link, they have some good info on how to start the process. Ours fell under the "fancy fondant" category. LOL!

:worship: :thanks:

With all that food did you folks eat all your meals in the villa? I'm guessing you had a lot of kids with you with all the peanut butter and jelly and loaves of bread.

I think you might be looking at mine and Cynthia's lists as one. I need to add lunch meat and sliced cheese to mine. Between sandwiches and French toast, 2 loaves doesn't seem like a ton for 6 people for 11 days. We'll eat most breakfasts in the room and we love to munch by the pool.

The only problem I have with ordering groceries is that I am so picky about the fresh food that we get.

::yes:: Me too. I've elaborated on my list to Kelly some on the fruit. I need to be super specific though. I'm asking for some underripe fruit too.

Well I went overboard, I imagine there is a happy medium somewhere :rotfl:

Our list was the first one only. We ate 5 breakfasts in the room, 2 dinners and 3 lunches over the course of our 11 night trip but we also had one smaller additional grocery trip and one small "filler" run to the DVC store at Vero. I will say that list lasted us longer than I was expecting but we bought a couple more meals than planned too which changed things a bit.

I hear you there, it's why I was so specific on certain items.

I'm totally copying you. We'll be about the same over our 11 days.

I guess you would have to be specific.

That's on my to do list today is to look at GG and make a mock list from them. I just wish I could find what Publix sells. Their site only gives like cake and deli specials. Wonder if I could call and get something faxed?

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Gabby got asked to a rival school's homecoming last night which sparked a slew of texts and calls and even FB messages to me about taking her to her own school's homecoming. I posted her one pic on FB. They get into it here. In my day, we got asked without any bells and whistles, rented a limo, and got buzzed on Boone's Farm. :rotfl2: Here, they get asked in some sort of gimmicky way. We have to answer in an equally gimmicky way. Then they have a day date the day of and then the dance is that night. Sometimes they also attend the football game together the night before.

I'm just wondering how Gab knows so many boys from a rival school? She hasn't even started high school and doesn't until Monday. ;)

I agree, the villa mugs are tiny. Do the DVC reports specifically use filters of coffee pods?

some of the studios reportedly have pods but all the 1bed+ are regular Mr Coffee. I just posted a picture of the brewer in my update lol so stop by and check it out! Flat bottom filters.

You're right! Jenna is sweet enough to ask but there are 5 of them so their list will be über long too. We weren't all planning on going. We were going to send the men while we swim with the kids. The only way it would work is if we could check in an hour to the THV which is not likely and I can't count on it. What to do? Ideas?

I thought you had a 5pm at Ohana? Confused. LOL! If you have a 5pm, and no guaranteeing that the villa will be ready any earlier than 4, that's a problem. You should be leaving SSR at 4 or earlier I'd think to head to dinner. Personally I would not give up an ADR over grocery shopping or getting settled in to the resort! If you are swimming there first though, you may not be able to shower etc except for whatever is at the pool to use as it is likely the villa won't be ready early. I will tell you we got lucky, twice, on villa's being ready early. One quite early, at check in at 12:30, and one about 2:30. So you never know but from what I hear we were more the exception than the rule. We didn't get to the 3rd villa in time to even try for early check in so who knows if it was ready earlier. LOL!

Bell service speed varies tremendously. OKW was the fastest I have EVER seen. Makes me wonder if it's the golf cart versus walking, golf cart won! YC took 3 trips to get all my stuff over the span of it seemed like 45 minutes. FW on the other hand delivered before we got there and put perishables in the freezer and fridge. I don't think that would happen with DVC though. I'd wait for delivery until you had time to unpack your stuff.

So you'll just leave your stuff with BS at AoA when you check in? I'd give them a $1 per bag as they have to store and move it, as well as whomever drops it off. If you are doing DME though it might arrive in the room when you aren't there which makes it hard to tip! That is a crazy delivery fee for Betsy but it will be uber fun to have it there the first night. A Lady mug? Ooh! Post a picture. I love Lady.

Good idea! Does GG give you an actual quote or do you just use their list? Kelly uses Publix and Target. I find Target here is very expensive for groceries. I'm sure she'll get my cake from Publix. I hear they have a wonderful bakery.
It's an online based ordering system so just fill up a cart and you'll see the total, not including delivery.

I'm a pita and I'm sure there are more like me. :hyper:

She will get least expensive, I tried to note that where it didn't matter. They don't have Tilamook, I can confirm that. She got all our stuff from Target and the deli meat, cheese and bread were SOOOO good! All from the Deli. I hear you on the brands, I had the same issue. I got all the brands I asked for, except for the Taco seasoning. Which bummed me out as I almost packed that item to ensure I got the right brand and then didn't and added it to my list. Silly I know but I already knew from Kelly that Publix didn't have it and wasn't surprised that Target didn't either. The ortega was fine. :rotfl: I imagine she got all my stuff from Target as I needed the coffee from there so it made sense to do it all. Our Targets are limited on groceries (no deli etc) but I was happy with what I got. I'll admit, I am a dork. I actually mocked up the same order on Safeway just to see what I'd pay locally and it was pretty spot on with what she charged.

Thank you for mentioning lactic. I isn't even think about glass being a heave but it could easily break. :headache: You're kids don't drink juice boxes? Mine are junkies! Plus I'm not pouring out or saving half glasses of juice that never get finished and just end up being spilt all ove the fridge.

Nope, they haven't in years. I get grape and orange at Costco and then get apple from the regular store since the Costco option doesn't have added vitamin C. They'd half finish those which made me nuts! Even now, if they get them at a game or something as the handed out snack, half of the time they don't open it, it ends up in the downstairs fridge as a snack for a random day when they are playing outside. They aren't bad with the half glasses of juice (but I have small glasses just for them to use!) but they are AWFUL sometimes with pouring too much milk. It's been better lately but I despise a glass of anything in the fridge for exactly that reason...but won't let them throw it out either.

We did get just on our 2nd grocery run, more than we needed as they has the Simply Juice brand, 2 for $5 I think at Publix. It would have been nice to have it at OKW as we'd have gone through it all, we were kind of pushing it to get it drunk over 3 days but I used it as a mixer as well (mango orange and a pineapple orange, yum!). And honestly we moved more groceries than I'd been expecting and with stuff in the car for as long as it was, I'm glad we didn't have more than we did on that front.

That's. A good idea. You know how time seems to get away from you thou on vacation? You wake up one day and you're on day 7 some how? That always happens to us. I'm sure Jenna would take us any day we want, she's so sweet, but I always find a it headache to leave and come back blah blah blah. I'm not into wasting money but sometimes convenience pays. Plus, here's where a little of the control freak in me rears it's ugly, mostly hidden head: I don't like to be tied to anyone's else's time schedule. You doing the pHotopass is great but when it comes to my actual time, I'm a freak.

I hear you there, I'd think the best time to knock it out would be early morning on a sleep in day if you were going to go. Seems like it'd be a lot easier to just let Kelly do it. I do think about that 20%, and then I think about my lost relaxation or park time and think...yeah..it's worth it. I figure with delivery and the flat fee, it was about $40. But I got exactly what I wanted without spending any time. For me to try to do it..it's probably a 2 hour adventure. Driving, parking, shopping, driving, parking, unloading. And those lost 2 hours can't be gotten back. Is that worth $40? Yeah, it was.

But as the list adds up, it's hard to decide what to do. I was glad that we could pick up some of it on our own for Vero later, though honestly ended up buying a lot less than we'd thought.

We went through 2 loaves over our 11 nights, and that's with 4 on the cruise so that seems like a good amount. 10 sandwiches with lunch meat or tuna and one morning of french toast.

The only thing I might look at on your list is it seems like a lot of late night snacking things (cookies and popcorn) versus poolside snacks. Will you really be at the room at night that much? I could have used popcorn a couple of times but we had a non park trip so our evenings were quite a bit different. Then again, it was WAY more fun to get mickey bars out of the freezer! We don't do poolside snacks other than beverages but we do like our chips and salsa on the verandah!

That's on my to do list today is to look at GG and make a mock list from them. I just wish I could find what Publix sells. Their site only gives like cake and deli specials. Wonder if I could call and get something faxed?

According to Kelly the entire GG website is based on what Publix sells. So that will give you brand info. Pretty funny about Gabby, we don't have that kind of elaborate invite thing here at all. Fun though!

some of the studios reportedly have pods but all the 1bed+ are regular Mr Coffee. I just posted a picture of the brewer in my update lol so stop by and check it out! Flat bottom filters.

Thank you. I read your update this morning and posted. I saw the coffee pot but swear I read that AKV does pods now. I got a dedicated 2 bedroom there so we won't have that extra kitchen area so I'm guessing it'll be a regular pot.

We have 'Ohana on the 15th and 50s on the 14th. Girl, I'm confusing myself. I have so much on my p,ate and what do I choose to do? Perseverate on a grocery list that's 40+ days away. :rotfl2: We've had decent villa mojo except for our holiday stay at the GCV last November. It was close to 4:30 before it was ready. Hmmm.....we were going to break to swim/shop but since we're not shopping now, we could sleep in and check out of AoA at the the last minute, basically pushing the day back by 3 hours. That'll negate the need for a break. I'll just call for bell services when we get back from EMH. I won't last until midnight anyway, I never do. I'm sure I'll head back a little early anyhow. I am not a night person at all. In a perfect world I'd be in pjs and asleep every night by 10:00 pm. :cloud9: Even on vacation. so looks like I get t change plans yet again......we'll let the kids sleep, check out of AoA right at check out, head to MK until 4:00, be to DHS by 5:00, eat at 50's, stay for evening EMH, and then head to the THV after that. I guess I should do nine check in then. Have you ever done it? A success with regard to requests? I think it's easier to low people off when they check in online. It's more difficult when they're face to face.

They delivered before you got there at FW? And out the cold stuff away? That would be heavenly. POR had the worst bell services. It was after midnight when we got our bags and we called for them about 9 pm.

::yes:: DH and I will each have a carry on and the kids will have their stuff. Mine will include toiletries and swimsuits. I'll make the kids carry their pjs and clothes for the next day. Guess maybe I need to call ME first to let them know I want our bags going straight to the THV for our 10/14 check in? We'd have room for them at AoA but if there's less for me to see, the more relaxed I'll be. Have I mentioned I hate clutter? ;)

I agree, her fee is outrageous. She didn't give me an actual breakdown but from what the sketch pads cost, $20 each, and pricing the mugs at $15 each....it ends up to be about $40 for her fee. But it's cool she's letting me send stuff and she'll make it all purdy for us and get it to AoA. :thumbsup2 I'll post a photo and soon as she sends one to me. :goodvibes

It's an online based ordering system so just fill up a cart and you'll see the total, not including delivery.

Cool! I'm going to do that! How do they know how much fruit will be? And meat? It varies greatly here from week to week as do most things.

Still haven't heard from Kelly on the booze yet.

She will get least expensive, I tried to note that where it didn't matter. They don't have Tilamook, I can confirm that. She got all our stuff from Target and the deli meat, cheese and bread were SOOOO good! All from the Deli. I hear you on the brands, I had the same issue. I actually mocked up the same order on Safeway just to see what I'd pay locally and it was pretty spot on with what she charged.

That's terrrific! We have the super Targets here and they are outrageously priced so maybe they are priced regionally. Wonder if Publix has a sister market like the Smith's/Kroger relationship? I could check that way too. I'm just not in the mood to be gouged and I'm glad she is smart with our money. She's a mom, I figured she'd *get it*. She also charges 20% so that would inspire me to choose the higher priced items. It is a business after all.

Mine will drinks. Full glass with dinner but otherwise I end up pouring it down the sink even with small glasses. Must be something psychological with them. :rotfl: Glass half full? ;)

What did you do with the extras? Mousekeepng? I guess they only want unopened. Lol! That's my thing and the reason I was holy debating two orders: packing it all up to be moved. :headache:

It's like you're in my head or something! Is my time and all that shuffling worth it? Probably.

That was my thinking on the bread. Chloe eats like a bird too. I need to add a bag of dinner rolls.

I'm going to add some poolside snacks. I was thinking chips and sasa too. They'll most likely order from the bar for pool food. But it'll be good to have munchies down there. That reminds me: Goldfish crackers. Mine love those.

According to Kelly the entire GG website is based on what Publix sells. So that will give you brand info. Pretty funny about Gabby, we don't have that kind of elaborate invite thing here at all. Fun though!

Thank you! That's good to know. On my way to GG to see how poor I'll end up.

Dances are a huge deal here. Like sill huge. She and I have to work n the dress cost details etc.....I want to be armed going into negotiations.

Thank you. I read your update this morning and posted. I saw the coffee pot but swear I read that AKV does pods now. I got a dedicated 2 bedroom there so we won't have that extra kitchen area so I'm guessing it'll be a regular pot.
They might, in the studios but our 1B at Jambo had the exact same brewer as OKW (and Vero).

Or, you could head over without the kids while they are sleeping and check in. I did that for our move from WL to YC. Got up, grabbed a cab, checked us in and grabbed a cab back. It was wonderful! Our room was ready, I got the keys and it lessened a lot of stress for me. Checking in after EMH, even at 10, sounds UGH to me. I've only done online check in once and didn't get my request. All the other live check ins, I've gotten my requests. That said, we did get upgraded with the online one so I'm not complaining. But the room was ready the latest on that one which was a bummer.

I'd probably just play the AoA morning by ear. Kids might be up and raring to go to a park, or not and you'd have flexiblity to not rush which can be nice that first morning.

They delivered before you got there at FW? And out the cold stuff away? That would be heavenly. POR had the worst bell services. It was after midnight when we got our bags and we called for them about 9 pm.

UGH! Yes, they did but I don't think would ever happen with DVC. Maybe at AoA though. Funny thing is some people didn't want their stuff already in the cabin, I loved it! Especially since we landed at 10:30, weren't in the cabin until close to midnight and needed to eat as we were still on west coast time and had been uin the air during dinner. And of course nothing was open.

Have I mentioned I hate clutter? ;)

You definitely need to call. I'm not sure they will actually even let you do that to be honest. DME will look at your flight and your first night stay and that's what your tags will say but I'd call member services and ask. Did you already add DME to your ressie and if so, which one? Tags will be showing up soon. Your CRO ressie and DVC one won't be linked so that could be an issue. If member services can get you tags to THV that'd be cool, I'd call them not CRO. If not you can just leave your bags with bell services at AoA and once they arrive, go down and just arrange for the transfer. Challenge is they could get delivered to your room and then you'd have to lug them down again for the transfer.

Cool! I'm going to do that! How do they know how much fruit will be? And meat? It varies greatly here from week to week as do most things.

Still haven't heard from Kelly on the booze yet.

GG charges by the each I think on the fruit. Set pound price on the meat although I was looking at ground meat, not something like tri-tip so that would be different.

What did you do with the extras? Mousekeepng? I guess they only want unopened. Lol! That's my thing and the reason I was holy debating two orders: packing it all up to be moved. :headache:

Extra cereal I left for mousekeeping, I can't recall what else we had leftover. not much! We took stuff from Vero, that we could, onto the cruise and then to AKV as well. But anything opened will just get tossed (mayo, etc).

It's like you're in my head or something! Is my time and all that shuffling worth it? Probably.

Only you can answer that one! Really kind of depends on how much downtime you have. And it sounds like it's a M question too, does he want to go to the store? We bought booze from Conch Flats and the store at Vero and beer at Publix. They will have beer at the SSR store, just not sure of the brands and prices.

I'm going to add some poolside snacks. I was thinking chips and sasa too. They'll most likely order from the bar for pool food. But it'll be good to have munchies down there. That reminds me: Goldfish crackers. Mine love those.

LOL! I can't imagine chips or crackers at the pool with my kids. Visions of soggy squashed goldfish on the ground and all over Eric's face abound!

That's a good idea. I am an early riser so I could easily do that. I need to find that travel site where they tell you how to get from resort to resort. I know busses won't take me straight from AoA to THV/SSR. All this to stay at AoA. Silly. A cab is a good idea too. Was it $$? Yeah, I'm not 100% comfortable with online. And there's no chance of an upgrade as we're at THV.

I'm thinking I'll just have been services keep our luggage at AoA and transfer in the morning. I know they can do that. I'll tell them when we check in that we don't need our bags. That'll be the easiest I think. I did do ME to AoA and home from AKV. Love ME! Just a great service they provide. My DVC reservations aren't even linked. Somehow one reservation is under my name and the other under Michael's. Clueless how that happened.

GG charges by the each I think on the fruit. Set pound price on the meat although I was looking at ground meat, not something like tri-tip so that would be different.

Does GG factor in their service into the prices? I've got 4 12 packs of Guinness and I'm looking at $44.95. :rotfl2: They do free delivery after $200. I think I'll hit that easily. $44.95 just in beer! And only 16 beers. :faint:

Extra cereal I left for mousekeeping, I can't recall what else we had leftover. not much! We took stuff from Vero, that we could, onto the cruise and then to AKV as well. But anything opened will just get tossed (mayo, etc).

I'm going to seriously price GG vs Kelly out. GG may turn out lots cheaper. If they shop at Publix, I can still get Chloe's cake too. I want Kelly to beat their price as I'd rather support a *person*. Not that GG isn't run by people but you know what I mean. M will do whatever I want. :rotfl: He really doesn't get ruffled about that kind of stuff. He and Nate, Jenna's hubby are good together. Both super mellow and do what they're told. It's so funny how we all just clicked.

LOL! I can't imagine chips or crackers at the pool with my kids. Visions of soggy squashed goldfish on the ground and all over Eric's face abound!

Really? :lmao: That's too funny!

We're big pool bar food people. I'm more concerned with the price of drinks.

With GG, I'm at $72.93 for 16 cans of Guinuess, a 12 pack of Bud Light, and a 12 pack variety of Mike's Hard. I'm going to easily reach the $200 mark. Thank goodness for fuzzy Disney math because I budgeted for what we'd normally spend in groceries for the 2 weeks. ;)

All depends on where you are going to and from on the cost. I think I spent $15 each way or so from WL to the YC. You could take a bus to DTD and then boat to SSR/THV but it'd take a ton more time, or maybe do that one way or something like that. AoA and SSR aren't all that far apart by Disney standards.

I'm thinking I'll just have been services keep our luggage at AoA and transfer in the morning. I know they can do that. I'll tell them when we check in that we don't need our bags. I've heard that's pretty common on the reservation thing. You can call and have it changed but it doesn't really matter I don't think. I love DME as well.

They've changed since I used them. When I did it, the liquor was not factored in to the total for the free delivery. Which really annoyed me. I seriously considered using them simply so we could get that stuff delivered but since they didn't have beers jeff really wanted, don't do hard alcohol an he wanted rum, and I wanted better deli meat and cheese, I went with Kelly. She didn't save me $$ but I liked what I got a lot better and she didn't cost more.

I didn't know you could bring food on the cruise? That's cool. I knew you could bring booze though.

I don't think they care what you carry on. Not sure about food in luggage but folks do a lot of candy and such for the FE so I'm sure it would be fine. You don't need food on the cruise that is for sure! We brought Via, beer, wine and rum. And some leftover cookies and cereal. LOL!

I'm going to seriously price GG vs Kelly out. GG may turn out lots cheaper. If they shop at Publix, I can still get Chloe's cake too. She won't beat them but will/should in about the same. Not sure you can get the cake through them though, basically you get whatever size options they have/list, which is what I didn't like. Pool drinks are expensive but....sometimes you don't want to go back to the villa. :rotfl:

:goodvibes Praying for a quicker healing so she can have some super drug. I think our bodies grown semi-immune too to the really old drugs.

Wow! You two are chatty! :lmao:

I don't know if you have checked my PTR since yesterday, but you'll need to modify your Monday plans, not that you can't go to F&W, but unfortunately you won't be enjoying it with Fran and I. She just really won't enjoy herself on the trip with how stiff she is and how much pain she has in her joints so I will be moving our trip to January in hopes that she gets back on her super drugs in a couple months and she has a few months of infusions before we go to WDW. :sad2:

I think you might be looking at mine and Cynthia's lists as one. I need to add lunch meat and sliced cheese to mine. Between sandwiches and French toast, 2 loaves doesn't seem like a ton for 6 people for 11 days. We'll eat most breakfasts in the room and we love to munch by the pool.

I also have never shopped for 6 people. There has always only been two of us, and especially now that we are older, we don't eat much at all. For a week 1/2 a dozen eggs is plenty and 1 loaf of bread will do us and then some. Also I guess kids eat a lot since they are always moving.

Ok so here I go back to the drawing board!

It sounds beautiful to be on the water but I think I'll want a more hurried approach. :hyper: Taking a taxi one way is a good idea.

I need to find the WDW map to see their proximity. This goes back to the whats-my-time-worth arguement.

 Currently, my total is $355.69 with booze. I'll easily make the free delivery. I think I'm going overboard. I have noticed GG's choices are stellar. For example the flavor of cheese we like only comes in reduced fat which I don't like. I like my cheese full fat. :woohoo: And their deli meat is all the pre packaged stuff which my kids don't like. They like when the deli carves it *fresh*.

We carry a soft side cooler with our drinks and plastic cups for when we've got glass. No glass by the pool is pretty strictly enforced from what we've seen and I totally get why. But I always have a fruity pool cocktail or two. But DH's beer is beer. The only difference is that his big can of Guinuess will cost $2.50 each from Kelly/GG if we order it vs $8.50 (about) each if we get it from the pool bar. That's huge difference.

I emailed about booze and haven't heard. That may be a breaking point but we'll see.

:goodvibes I am so sorry Alison. I know how much you were looking forward to the October trip. :sad2: But it makes perfect sense not to go if she'll be feeling cruddy; neither of you will have a good time. I'll miss meeting you both but there's always Disneyland. I hope your January plans come to fruition. pixiedust: Sending healing vibes for Fran and some emotional spandex for you.

Shopping for 6 is proving to be labor intensive. I'm looking at $400 worth of groceries between I'm ordering and brining. That seems awfully high but then I reallize it's for 11 nights but still, that's with 9 dinner ADRs and a CS everyday. :scared1:

I am so sorry to hear about Fran. I hope that when she gets the super drug it truly is a super drug. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

:thumbsup2

:ccat: 45 days until WDW!!! :ccat:

No wonder I'm obsessing on groceries! At least our basket contents are ordered....I've decided to include:

  • Mickey sketch pads with colored pencils for the girls
  • Cute Mickey hippie peace bracelet for Gab
  • personalized blanets for all of the kids
  • Halloween plush toys of Mickey and Minnie for Chloe and her bestie
  • Raiders Vinylmation for Joshua
  • 2 other Vinylmation for Joshua. He loves them and proudly displays them on a shelf in his room. :lovestruc
  • Mickey/firefighter mug for DH
  • Lady mug for me :cloud9:

It'll all be in one welcome basket and we'll get it when we all check into AoA. I think it'll be a fun little treat. :thumbsup2

And that my friend is exactly why I went with Kelly. We can't stand that kind of meat and crummy cheese and are super picky about our bread as well. Add all that up plus the fact that GG didn't have the yogurt or any taco seasoning and those were deal breakers. I could have added booze to a GG order and gotten the free delivery at around $200 but decided it wasn't worth what I was giving up.

I think you may be going a little overboard but then again, maybe not. I didn't realize you had 9 dinner ADR's and a CS everyday. Similar at dinner, we had 9 dinner ADRs, but we had 3 days with no CS at all.

I figured out between what I ordered from Kelly, brought, bought at Publix or the Vero/OKW/AKV grocery stores we spent in total about $335. That includes all booze (2 fifths of rum, 18 bottles of beer, 4 bottles of wine). The wine prices at the Mara are very fair and they have a great selection (FYI lol). This was for 5 but it sounds like my 5 are much bigger eaters than your crew! LOL. I'm sure it could have been done cheaper if we bought it all ourselves but honestly probably not more than $50 cheaper max. We could have saved delivery fee and then the resort upcharge on the rum and one bottle of wine but that's about it. Food is expensive. Although, to your point $2.50 versus $8.50 a pop makes a HUGE difference in overall costs, hence the volume of booze above. LOL! And my total doesn't include the fact that Jeff decided it'd be a grand idea to get a bottled water package and a wine package on the ship...plus any of those pool drinks. Jeesh, no wonder I'm still broke! Although we did bring home a fair amount of rum. :rotfl2:

One idea though is to get $200 worth from GG with your booze, get the free delivery, and leave the special items (cake, deli meat, cheese) to Kelly. I do figure though, my "at home" budget is $250 per week so the $335 for 11 days isn't all that off...except for the fact that it's on top of 9 dinner ADR's, all the cruise food and CS meals. :rotfl2:

My guess is you may either be over on the breakfast or lunch stuff, or snack and could maybe cut down a little in those areas? Then again, I bet all that yummy bloody mary ingredients are adding up. LOL!

I hear ya. I'm not impressed with deli selections but it does appear that booze is included in free shipping as I went all the way to the pay screen and it had free shipping for it all. And you're correct about the cake, I have to choose their dumb little chocolate Happy Birthday cake which isn't appropriate for Chloe's bat mitvah.

I could always order a cake through Disney but I'm not loving the idea of $50-$75 more for a cake.

I think you may be going a little overboard but then again, maybe not. I didn't realize you had 9 dinner ADR's and a CS everyday. Similar at dinner, we had 9 dinner ADRs, but we had 3 days with no CS at all.

As I look much more closely, we won't have a CS daily, in fact, we'll have only 4. :rotfl: And we will delete 2 TS if we choose to have F&W for dinner. When I add in those factors, it doesn't seem like a crazy amount of groceries.

:rotfl2:

I think you did well. But leftover rum? :faint: ;)

Food is expensive for sure. I'm shopping for 6 and DD's bestie eats a lot so she's like another adult. Thanks for the Mara tip. That's good to know. I wasn't going to order any wine from Kelly or GG. I mostly order pool drinks and enough to have a drink after the parks. Or during the day to keep our Epcot buzz going.

:rotfl2:

You. Are. Brilliant! :worship: That's a great idea. Your fuzzy Disney math mirrors mine. I figure $200 a week for food and I'll hit that for the two weeks. Of course that won't clude F&W, 7-9 TS, and 4 CS. I feel my stomach bloating just thinking about it.

My guess is you may either be over on the breakfast or lunch stuff, or snack and could maybe cut down a little in those areas? Then again, I bet all that yummy bloody mary ingredients are adding up. LOL!

I think you're correct. I tend to go a little bonkers when dreaming of these big beautiful breakfasts I'm going to make when in actuality the morning resembles something from an action movie with brushes and combs flying everywhere in an attempt to get going.

Cynthia, I decided to get the easy stuff from GG, up to $200 worth and the cake, meats, cheeses, yogurt, and fruit from Kelly. :thumbsup2 That way I'm still paying one delivery fee and saving a little money. :woohoo:

they have cheaper ones but they aren't customized at all. Pricey to be sure.

Well, swapping F&W kiosks for TS shouldn't impact your groceries though.

Yep, And left at least 2 half bottles of wine. Maybe 3. One on the cruise, one at AKV and possibly one at Vero but I can't recall for sure on that one. Almost had leftover beer but Jeff got creative. :rotfl2: We over purchased in that area for sure. But I figure, even over purchasing saved money over if we'd bought even half of those at restaurant prices.

Sigh, all my kids eat the same as adults. Poor Evan kept getting asked if he wanted a kids menu. Which is weird as a year ago that never happened and all of a sudden started.

LOL! I do the same thing and have way over ordered/shopped in the past. Or literally force fed the kids before we left for a park. You WILL eat/drink this, we will NOT be buying a breakfast pastry in the park. That's always fun. :rotfl2:

I force my kids to eat even while at home- lol! :lmao: I truly hate to waste food. They're really are starving families in our own neighborhoods. It's one of my few ;) soapbox issues. My kids may end up eating peanut butter the last two days of the trip. And then do you buy a breakfast pastry?

I do.

I'm sure you saved on alcohol even if you had leftovers. How did Jeff get creative with the beer?

I need to call the cake hotline. The little voice in my head is trying to rationalize a $75 cake......

:rotfl2: don't let Gussy in on this convo, she'll become a loud voice justifying the cake!

I hate to break it to you but it's physically impossible for you to go through a container of jam and PB in 11 days with all the meals out you have planned. Which is why I didn't get any on our trip. It was noticed once or twice but...tough. there were other options. :rotfl:

You'd have laughed on our 2010 trip. Me and the E's heading to the park for EMH while the lazy rest of them slept. Me, inhaling my coffee in the dark as to not wake others. Making the boys drink a juice and eat a yogurt or a banana so they didn't go to waste. Standing in the hallway, in the dark. This is wehre that villa table really comes in handy. At the YC, K was basically blocking access to the little table or balcony so it was easier to stand by the bathroom and eat as to not wake her.

The 2nd time we did it (EMH) I said screw it and we used snack credits.

LOL!

Girl, you are not helping! :lmao: And Gussy will have me in a D&B bag if she gets wind of any sort of splurging. I want one of those so badly. Guess I should have skipped the welcome basket and bought it for myself ;)

I was thinking of ditching the peanut butter and jelly but I don't think I've ever been anywhere not in close proximity to peanut butter. Haha!

Lol!!! I love it! In the hallway, in the dark, near the bathroom. That's a trip report title right there. Or a tag.
