I have been reading about the "kid swap" at Disney where the parents take turns riding an attraction while the other waits on the ground, then switch places.

Can you do this at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure also?

We have a 7 year old that I'am not sure is ready for Hulk and Dueling Dragons.

Yes there is kids swap at Universal, we use it all the time with an 8 yr old and 3 yr old.

They have a superior kid swap at USF. I'm going to move this over to our Universal board for you.

I had a seven year old on my trip, first off he wasnt big enough for Hulk and DD. They are very strict with the height requirements there, so be forewarned! He was close, but not close enough.

As for Hulk, they told us to walk up the exit and sit in the swap area. First my DH went, and then I did. The Hulk swap area has TVs, and you can see people loading on the coaster and some are well either screaming or whatever... It is loud, the music is loud the coaster is kind of echoey, and the TV is on loud.. letting you know now, its LOUD.

As for Dueling Dragons, remember you will be walking through a huge castle.. its a long walk. There is a bench /room near the entrance of Fire/Ice. It is dark, and kind of spooky walking up. My four year old was a little scared. , but my son thought it was ok after the first trip.

Can someone explain how this works? We will have our 5 and 7 yr. old DDs who don't like anything remotely scary (as in monsters, dinosaurs, aliens, ghosts...) I know that at WDW, it is only for those rides with a height restriction. Can we use this even if our DDs meet the height requirement?

You can child swap even when a child is tall enough. Its primarily for those under the height requirement, but you're welcome to have scared children wait as well. ;)

I dont know if there is a better way to do the kid swap but last time I was there we did the swap on Spiderman. We went through the line all of us even the baby. When it was our groups turn to ride we told him we were doing the kid swap and he directed us towards the left down a little hall where there was a little room with chairs for us to wait till the others were off the ride. I know the first group that rode had to tell the attendant about the kid swap because it is chained off from the exit of the ride. I had waited out by myself and they did let me take another person on with me so I didnt have to ride by myself. On another note when it was my turn to ride the ride kept stopping. First the cars stopped then the movie section. They let us get back on to see the ride in it's entirety......this happened 4 timesin a row and they kept putting us right back on. I have yet to see this whole ride all the way through. I finally gave up and am hoping for a complete ride for my April trip!:Pinkbounc
