Initial reports on CNN this morning said there was no known damage to any of the Disney parks.I am supposed to fly Monday 10/14 to Orlando for a 5 day parks trip. Staying at Coronado Springs. Can’t decide if I should cancel. I am glad to hear many are safe.
Just wanted to update with what we landed on. Changed our flights to Sunday. Daughter and husband are staying in Jacksonville until Saturday and have rented a car to drive to Bonnet Creek. We all extended our trip by a few days on the other end.Us three. My airline allows one change or cancel without fees so I want to be clear on what I’m doing before I make a change.
Adding to that, I rented with an agency to stay at Bonnet Creek and don’t have a clear answer on what will happen if I cancel. Last I heard they were only refunding those checking in on the 10th. We check in on the 12th.
I’m trying to wait and make the most rational decision possible and not lose thousands in the process.
The final piece of the puzzle is that my adult daughter and her husband were visiting my sister and are currently evacuated with my sister and her family. My sister lives in Tampa and is going to have major damage to her home. I don’t know how to get my daughter and her husband home if we cancel.
It’s all a mess. This isn’t “not understanding the magnitude”. This is just not knowing what to do.
Did Disney move you to CBR or is it the resort you booked? And I would never have thought they would have provided anything considering the “money grabs” they have been making. They also posted on their website “Additionally, we recommend planning ahead and stopping by any food court or quick-service dining location to pre-purchase breakfast and lunch for Thursday, October 10.” There was plenty of notice to go out locally (via car, ride share, taxi, etc.) to get supplies or up until the point they stopped delivery you could order from Walmart, Target and Publix (Instacart) to be delivered to the hotel (or pick up at the store). Even the government tells everyone to have at least 3 days of supplies on hand because it could take time to get to you. You are expected to be self-sufficient during an emergency. We re staying at CBR had a great morning at MK with zero lines 15min for Tron and a lovely dinner at Sebastian. However I'm a bit disappointed with the amenities no smart TVs so no on demand TV and TV doesn't have internet to pair and regular channels with my phone meaning no TV also regular channels aren't working.
Plus I thought they would provide breakfast or lunch given we have been told to not go out instead they said we should have organised ourselves...
I think that's pretty normal. They need time after the storm passes to get out and make sure there are no hazards: fallen trees, downed power lines, etc. They'll get through that and make an announcement as soon as they can, then people will be allowed to leave their rooms as long as there are no hazards in their area.Ok so you might not be able to get out today. I just saw this where they are telling you to continue to shelter in place

Walt Disney World and Vero Beach Resort Hotel Guests: Please continue to shelter inside while we assess the storm’s impact. We’ll let you know when it is safe to be outdoors.
I’m glad! It's almost 6 am. The storm has passed through and once we get some daylight we should hear about any damage. I'm 2 miles from the castle and we never lost power.
Sometimes it’s the feeder lines connecting to the underground lines that are down. Our neighborhood has that issue.I’m glad!
I have a friend who lives in Golden Oak and they lost power overnight. Not sure if it’s just her house or if others are affected. I’m surprised because I thought everything on property was underground.
anyone with pics they can post of this?I just saw a picture of the MK main st flooded. Has anyone heard anything? Are the Utilidoors flooded?
Thanks, however as an international guest we don't have a car and I'm not too familiar with those services. By the time I saw that message on the up we were already blocked in our room. They could have left a message on the room phones. Honestly as a guest the communication hasn't been great, I have only found out about the packages on this thread! you might be able to get out and about today. If all else fails check the Waffle Houseindex. Do a search on Waffle House Index-FEMA uses it and actually created it as an unofficial measurement. You’ll get a good chuckle.
I’m off to bed now, I’ve been glued to the weather channel and news reports for several days and nights worrying about my grandson down there (he’s holed up at Universal.) I hope the rest of your trip is magical and safe travels home.

Take pictures of anything damaged and contact guest services if anything needs replaced or cleaned. I would hope they would cover damages. Or possibly your travel insurance might cover anything. Thanks, however as an international guest we don't have a car and I'm not too familiar with those services. In regards to damage we are at on the second storey and we got water in the room during the night!
Hopefully people didn't get too much damage.
