Keeping an eye on Tropical Weather 2024

Keeping up with this thread. Kids and I spent the day in the room at Boardwalk. I haven’t even ventured out to see what’s going on in the hotel. DH went to HS this morning. Just about a walk-on for everything .
Raining and sounds very windy out there now. We have a lot of good in the room, but great majority would require heating up, so hope power will stay on…
Watching WESH all day. I hope the tornadoes weren’t too bad on the east coast . And hope landfall won’t be as bad as originally predicted.
Thanks to all posting here with suggestions . Been in many hurricanes, tropical storms in Louisiana , but not in Florida, at Disney.
I don't know how old your kids are, but they will have a lot of activities and characters in the lobby.

We were moved from Fort Wilderness to Port Orleans during Ian. Just wind and rain, but everything was shut down. The food court was limited service. I drove out one day to look around and nothing was open. No fast food, you didn't need to stop at stop lights, nobody was on the road because nothing was open. Ian went south and really didn't cause much damage, but the town was closed, the parks were closed. At Port Orleans, just a lot of small branches and leaves were down.

Seems like the worst bands are going to start in south Orlando soon once things move on from Tampa. stay safe.

We re staying at CBR had a great morning at MK with zero lines 15min for Tron and a lovely dinner at Sebastian. However I'm a bit disappointed with the amenities no smart TVs so no on demand TV and TV doesn't have internet to pair and regular channels with my phone meaning no TV also regular channels aren't working.

Plus I thought they would provide breakfast or lunch given we have been told to not go out instead they said we should have organised ourselves...

The gift store did have them this afternoon at the music resort on a table. Same stuff as AOA. $10
Oh bummer we must have missed them. We went in tonight around 7, but they weren't there. I meant to also confirm that the games/puzzles are 25% off - someone had mentioned they might be. I will say as inconvenient as this is for our vacation; it's times like this that I'm reminded why we do Disney...they do a great job of taking care of you and it's much appreciated.

Disney sure has been great!❤️

It is still going to take 4-5 hours for Milton to make it to the Orlando area since it is only going about 16 MPH NE.

From Denis’ fb page: The EXTREME WIND WARNING has expired and the NWS says they will not extend it inland as the highest gust so far was at Egmont at 105 mph. Wind gusts of 70-95 mph are still possible as the storm moves inland.

Something you might consider in the future if you travel very often. We purchased an Amazon fire stick. It stays in my carry on so I take it wherever I travel. Nearly every hotel tv has an hdmi port and I just plug it in and now I have everything available.

The only time it hasn't worked is if the hotel tv remote nor the TV itself allows for input changing. I think that's happened once

I think I paid $35

It will still be a Cat 1 at 15 MPH with gusts of up to 115 MPH in the next 3 hours as it passes near Lakeland / Winter Garden, south of I4.

I’m Canadian, 60s is still pretty warm 😂. Like that is t-shirt weather. I am packing a light sweater for the evenings, just in case. I can’t imagine I would need more than that, but thank you for the tip.

60 feels much cooler in Fl than it does up north. Many visitors are surprised by this and end up buying expensive Disney jackets. Conversely, when I go up north I find I don’t need a jacket for temperatures I would need a jacket for at home.

We’ve done Florida in the 60s before and it was fine. I think it helps that it is much colder here when we leave, similar to how fall feels colder than spring st the same temperatures (or how when we get those weird weird winter days where it pops up above freezing, you don’t ever need a jacket because it feels so much warmer than it is). It also has to be pretty cold for me to ever need a jacket.

We live about 45 minutes north of WDW. We didn't lose power, but lost a few of my sand pine trees. Fortunately, they were located in a nature buffer zone mandated by our HOA so they will just lay there "in the middle of the woods". We got major rain, but my property isn't prone to flooding.

We got very lucky and am blessed.
