Kate Middleton

I don't understand why the States even cares about royalty from a country you have nothing to do with.

When Kate and William got married there was a stink on the Disney cruise boards, criticizing all the Americans who were not overly anxious to watch the ceremony on the Dumbo-tron on the deck of the ships.

There is an american "reporter" Sarah Whallen who is blogging slander by claiming George isn't the child of William and Catherine that does irritate me.

And these people have even accused Prince William of killing that nurse who committed suicide

I mean like or dislike someone but if you hate someone why spend so much time following what they do?

If you don't like what they're writing, then why are you giving them free advertising by linking to their posts? :confused3 I haven't clicked on them, but looking at their addresses, they're not reputable news outlets.

This thread is the first I've heard of pregnancy speculations. I guess I'm behind the times. I hope she isn't yet.

I do love her. The picture of her playing cricket and the sailing race against her husband....two things you wouldn't think of a princess doing. Go Kate!

Don't get me wrong! I really like Kate! I just browse those royal forums once in a while for fun - similar to reading People magazine or National Enquirer.

As a Canadian I support our constitutional monarchy at this time and expect that I will eventually have King William and Queen Catherine as our head of state. Well William as head of state. And I'm ok with that. :)

And I stand corrected. She is Princess William, the Duchess of Cambridge.

A friend of mine went to school/university with them. He lived near Kate and talked with her frequently. He says she is a real girl and very, very nice and friendly. He spent some time playing pool with Prince William and he was a 'regular guy' too. According to him, they are very down to earth.

A forum where a lot of people dislike what others like and probably make snarky comments? I don't believe that a place like that even exists :rolleyes2

:stir: They probably like to sit in a big circle and just wallow in their bitterness and malcontent.

Although I am American my ancestors are from Great Britian from a town very close to where Kate grew up. That is one of the reasons I am so intrigued.

Speaking for myself, it is because we don't have royalty is why it makes it so intriguing, not to mention there is so much history with royalty that has actually affected the US.
And, come one. Which of us ladies can honestly say that we didn't want to be a princess back when we were children? Or who didn't love to watch Cinderella? There's a romance surrounding royalty, no matter how unrealistic is might be. And, besides, is there really something wrong with paying attention to things going on in other countries? I fail to understand how, just because they are the royal family of another country, we shouldn't care about them I don't see people getting bent out of shape is the brits follow what Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are doing.:confused3

Kate is absolutely lovely. I wish I had her wardrobe. I don't think I have ever seen her look less than fantastic.

While I think Kate is stunning and has all the qualities a Princess should have, i'm biased and think Princess Mary of Denmark is stunning and is on par.

She's a born and bred Aussie :lmao:

My DS was lucky enough to meet her at a school assembly and when I asked her what he thought of her as a 5 year old, he said "she's pretty"

I think both Duchess Kate and Princess Mary are fabulous. IMHO they are the model for what future royalty should be. They both seem very sincere and down to earth.

I think the fact that they were both older and had some life experience has served them very well. Duchess Kate had a long run up to her move into the oryal fmaily, so she got to see the good, the bad and the ugly of being royal. I think Prince William did a lot of "showing her the ropes" and, if I recall correctly in one of their post-engagement interviews he actually said something to the effect of "I wanted to give her enough time to see the life for what it was and make sure that's what she wanted" or something to that effect.

There was no comparison to Princess Diana in terms of her engagement to Prince Charles. The Palace screwed up, in plain English. The plucked a 19 year old kid from obscurity, got her engaged to a significantly older man with whom she had little to nothing in common. And they expected her to tolerate his cheating. And she had to be "pure"?? Like he was? Seriously???? No one in the Palace expected Diana to turn out to be the attraction she was.

They seemed to have learned their lesson though...took long enough....

All the mags at the checkout at grocery store today had Prince George on the cover-really is a cute and squirmy baby :)

That's what I love about them. Despite the goldfish bowl William was born into, they were able to have a pretty normal college experience and courtship. Diana and Charles were pretty much an arranged marriage and he couldn't stand the publicity she got. She was too young to handle it. Even though Kate gets a lot of press, they are a little more even and he doesn't seem to mind. The way he looks at her and the baby, it's a look of pride.

I think the difference is, William actually loves Kate. I also get the feeling she sometimes puts him in his place wheras Diana wouldn't dare to Charles. I think they have a true love story.

Why some American's are interested? For me and lot of others I grew up around, we lived by an air force base where they were stationed in England during the war. Lots of english brides; my mom was one. My mother died an english citizen. Have tons of relatives over there.

Whilst I agree with some remarks, Diana might not have shone as a scholar but she was not uneducated. I loved her, but that's my opinion.

Kate is utterly charming ....beautiful inside and out.

I loved Diana too! I cannot imagine the world she was tossed into, with absolutely no support. IMO, she did wonderful job ensuring her sons were as "normal" as could be expected under the circumstances.

Exactly. She was in over her head right from the start, and I believe it was because of her that this e Royal Family finally started to understand that the way it always was, was not the way it would always be in terms of spouses just tolerating bad behavior.

When I was a teenager I had two crushes John Williams the musician and Prince Charles.
