Just took the resale plunge!!!

Just faxed back the papers to purchase points at VWL! We've been considering DVC for awhile but thought SSR was just not for us. Got a call yesterday about resale points available at VWL (our 1st choice) so we went for it! Hopefully we'll get through ROFR and join you guys soon as members! Wish us luck!

Hi guys!
We are thinking of DVC and I have been lurking on theses boards for a time.
I keep seeing things about "ROFR". What is this? Forgive my ignorance.
Also is it true that the only resort for sale is SSR? How many yrs is it for? If I bought resale is that what ever yrs are left on that resale or the same as any resort when you buy in?
Sorry for all th ???I am trying to understand it all.

We are buying through this board's sponsor. I checked several other resale companies but I felt the most comfortable with this one since so many people on this board have had great success with them. I talked briefly to Disney about VWL, but our guide was not very encouraging about it, so we went the resale route. You can PM me if you have any more questions.

ROFR is Right of First Refusal. Disney reviews all resales to insure they meet minimum standards, otherwise they will not allow the sale to go through.

SSR is the only resort "officially" for sale direct from Disney. All others only have inventory when Disney gets some back, such as from a sale that passed ROFR which they bought instead.

All resorts expire in 2042, except SSR which expire in 2054. Buying from Disney or from resale does nothing for the yrs left, so buy from wherever you can get what you want.
