Just how many cliques threads do we need?

But some of us don't *want* to have to keep up with a mindless chit chat thread. I don't *want* to pop into one of those massive threads and say hi. I don't have that kind of time.

I honestly don't mind those threads in and of themselves, but they need to stay on their own thread and not take over other threads that were never intended to be "cliquey."

Now see, to be serious for a moment, I see this as a "you've made friends here and you need to stay on your own thread because I don't want to see you any place else" kind of statement, which is pretty mean in my book. I told SWM not to talk to me here earlier (in jest) but this is just what I was referring to. Because I've been around for awhile, and I've met people, I must limit my interaction on here to 1 thread. Now, this is just how I'm reading the comment so I'm not speaking for everyone. This just seems like you're wanting to censor people here.

I think talking to your friends in other threads is totally fine, as long as the conversation stays ON TOPIC. When it veers from the original topic of the thread to inside jokes based on clique threads or whatever, then it's annoying. I don't see how that is being mean or unreasonable.

This particular table is for painting sunsets. While you are painting sunsets you will not interact with a friend of yours from the last table you were involved in at which you painted horses. Painting horses is not the same as painting sunsets and the rest of us do not care to hear you discuss painting horses and do not understand the shading of horses' knees, therefore please go back to the horse painting table if you must say something to your friend about painting horses. Otherwise, limit your talk here strictly to sunsets.

Well, thanks, whoever you are. I'll take unsolicited and false praise anyday. It sure beats what others are dishing out most days. The funny thing is, when I first came here, I tried to be so nice and not stir the pot....ever. But I've gotten my butt handed to me so many times (and usually in PM's so no one else can see) that, frankly, I just don't care anymore. No one else seems to. I've been called every name in the book, told I was an unfit human and told I was ugly after posting a picture. In the whole scheme of things, I just started giving it as good as I get it. I stopped worrying about who's toes may be getting stepped on. There are a lot of people here I care deeply about, and some I wouldn't spit on if they burst into flames, but in the whole lesson of life, I've learned I'm the only person I need to make happy. But, thanks again.

Ohhh the toenail thread. Well that is quite the insightful thread. Personally I don't know why I even opened it as I hate feet. Anyway, I think there have been a rash of microwaving cakes in food court threads running around here and that was the thread was sorta in reference to. I missed out on that fun though. Microwave cake in itself seems to me. But I guess that is another thread.

Also, may I say I feel dumb that I had no clue as to what Bob/Steve was referring to. I never read those books. An ex-boyfriend of mine did, tried to talk to me about them (eyes glazed over) and that was that.
