Just how many cliques threads do we need?

Uh oh!!! I know you! Now this will really be a clique thread! Should I delete my post????

No, as long as we keep our discussion to sunsets and the painting thereof no one is offended. However any other conversation should take place in PMs only.

Yes, but then what would the rest of them have to complain about?

Oh, I know, refillable mugs and pool hopping :lmao:

We only complain about that stuff so people will like you will have something to complain about.

For people who hate complainers some of you do a lot of complaining.

New people stop in and sometimes even stay! I have been pretty intimidated to go into other clique threads though, I feel like I'm barging in uninvited.

Oh heck, I forgot what my point here was going to be. I guess just to say that I don't think most people mind the clique threads themselves, but don't like when the groups migrate to other threads and take over with their "in" jokes. With the exception of the one thread I already mentioned, I pretty much just post wherever I feel I have something to say. I do see the same people over and over again and there are some of you that I would like to get to know better but don't really know how.
Feel free to stop by the PMS thread anytime...you're not barging in...it's pretty fast moving and I couldn't even keep up today. ;)

BTW - almost forgot what I was gonna post - over a year ago, I popped into a big thread, said hello , was welcomed with open arms, and made some of the best friends I have ever had. They have helped me through a very rough time in my life. There have been times during the past year that one or more of these friends have called, sent flowers or cards or letters or gifts, just to let me know they cared about me. They have never criticized or judged, simply been my friends - true friends. What you may call a "clique" thread has been my lifeline to sanity for many months. If any of you would like to come chat with us, laugh with us, or if you need an ear or a hand to hold, a shoulder to cry on, PM me and I would be happy to introduce you. I am very proud to be considered my friends' friend, and when I say "love ya" to them - I mean it  Come on over - the door's always open and the wisecracks are flowing - but behind them is the magic that makes the DIS so special.
Snowy is truly one of the nicest people I've met on the DIS (even though she doesn't want that reputation). She has called me when I've been down, has sent packages to me or to my 7yo, and I know really cares. Amazing to get from a discussion board.

But some of us don't *want* to have to keep up with a mindless chit chat thread. I don't *want* to pop into one of those massive threads and say hi. I don't have that kind of time.

I honestly don't mind those threads in and of themselves, but they need to stay on their own thread and not take over other threads that were never intended to be "cliquey."
There is nothing wrong at all with not wanting to post on the mega threads.

And I do agree that the posters shouldn't take over a serious thread and/or one that is on topic. I don't feel so strongly about one that's already veered off course, but I do see the frustration with that, also.

Where should I go if I prefer to paint horses riding into the sunset?
You're the difficult one, aren't you? :rotfl2: ;)

Does anyone else find these posts awkwardly worded? I always have to read them at least twice to try to figure out what she is saying. I am still not sure.

I would like to hijack this thread with recipes. Anyone object to that? ;)

Should I say it slower?

People....complaining....about.....complainers.

And thinking they are better, interestingly enough. What's up with that?

Maybe. I do tend to be a bit slow. But what is the difference if you are the orginal complainer or the secondary complainer??

Isn't that what the pool hopping, clique haters, heely's, microwaves in rooms, ECV, psycho stroller mom, etc...threads are all about?

So what is the difference?

Remember...speak slowly.

How much complaining can a complainer do if a complainer complains on a clique thread complaining about flying crap? my head is spinning :scared1:

I don't cook. Can I go out and buy the food for everyone? :)

I'll cook! All I need is a blow drier, an iron, a coffee pot and the microwave I borrowed from the food court!

do we think we're better, or do they think we think we're better - maybe they think we think we are better, when really we don't? my head is spinning again:scared1:

Doesn't sound a bit like how much wood could a wood chuck chuck to you?

I thought it was just me. You know...being slow and all.

Let me clarify. I don't have any problems with any one or any certain people on the DIS. I just find it annoying when you think the thread is about one thing...and you find out its about personal chit chat.....AGAIN.

I even "belonged" to probably the biggest clique group here for a very short time. I like them individually. But as a group, I just couldn't really relate to the daily banter. Weird. I know.

I know exactly what you mean. Also, I don't know that THIS specific topic has been posted and discussed but definitely the hijacking has been discussed ad nauseum. It's very frustrating when the mods come in and say "give me an example" and you do and it still continues. I had to put some on ignore because I frankly got sick of seeing their usernames in every thread. I don't get the cliques because I have a job and kids and a house to manage and don't have time to make 20,000 posts. It seems a chat room is more in line for those who want to chitchat rather than having words forever saved to a server that needs to keep getting upgraded. Anyway, I don't think the cliques are the issue as much as the highjacking, imho only, of course.

Sounds like a party. :cool1: Should I start a thread asking for the bathtub barbecue recipes now?
