Just how many cliques threads do we need?

I post on one of the clique threads. (Blue Goose Dis Ladies Only Meet). It started as a trip planning thread over on the Meets board. We kept it going over there after we got back & we were planning mini-meets & a second big meet. Well, someone complained that we didn't belong there & we were told to move it here. We didn't want to do that, we had no choice.

I'm sorry that you feel they clog the boards. We're not happy with it, but it wasn't our choice. And we don't hijack threads.

:lmao: People have a need to belong. It's natural. The cliques are smaller parts of a very large group.... i guess...:confused3

What cracks me up is the "NOT IN A CLIQUE LIKE ME" thread that's been going on FOREVER!!! :rotfl2:

I wonder what happened to me then? I can't stand "belonging" to a group. I tend to gravitate towards the different path to take....and sometimes choose to go against the mainstream! :)

What exactly bothers you about it:confused3 ? If you want to join in join in - if you don't ignore them. Frankly, if I never see another thread about Harry Potter again I'll live a full and happy life. But if I want to hang out on the boards I'll have to put up with it.

The problem is that sometimes you don't really know it's a clique thread. A lot of times they start out as serious topics (or interesting topics) and you really want to post in the thread, only to open it and find that it's already been "cliqued" by the same people who already have multiple threads of their own.

It's annoying.

It is not NEARLY as annoying as people who lurk on certain threads, reading them page by page with no intention of ever posting.

Worse yet is when they lurk and post about what they read on other threads. :confused3

If you have something to say about what is being said on a particular thread...why not post it on that thread, not a different one.

I just find it annoying that the cliques have multiple threads instead of just their 1. Or when you read a thread title & find out 6 posts in it just turns into another thread for the same clique people.

Amen to that. Drives me crazy. I feel like I'm on another planet sometimes. :confused3

I love how some people get points for starting new cliques because they are "gathering." That felt good. Thank you for the opportunity to cleanse my mental colon. I am now going to post about it and then I'm going to change the title.

Just curious... but how do you know that someone is lurking with no intention of ever posting... How can you tell and why would this bother anyone? Not picking - I just find this comment a bit confusing:confused3

They are no more annoying then the political threads or the ones that turn into them. Or the Harry Potter threads or the latest scandal thread or the see my cute little plushies threads.

Don't like them, skip over them. That's what we are always told at least. As for the ones that take a turn, well that happens on many threads and not only by "cliquers". It happens by the anti-Bush posters, the anti-kid/pets/christians/take your pick posters.

Let me clarify. I don't have any problems with any one or any certain people on the DIS. I just find it annoying when you think the thread is about one thing...and you find out its about personal chit chat.....AGAIN.

I even "belonged" to probably the biggest clique group here for a very short time. I like them individually. But as a group, I just couldn't really relate to the daily banter. Weird. I know.

You mental issues with your colon? Hey so do I. Let's start a mental colon clique:grouphug:

The thread title should be "The Wally Cox Fanclub" this way only the mental colon issues people will know about it.

I don't get the stumbling on to a group of friends thread problem. I can see it a bit if the thread is a newly forming group of friends. If you see a thread already has 1000+ posts though and making friends is not your thing then don't post there as it is almost aways going to be a group of friends thread. :)

Myst

Yeah, they think we are "whiny babies" :confused3

See the above post? I posted on another thread in response to a general clique bashing thread comment, saying "whiny babies" and shortly there after...BAM there was howfunnyisthis?'s post.

Rather obvious.

It happens. you read what somone recently wrote on one thread, come up on another.

If you don't like it...don't read it. If you want to jump in...jump in.

I have never seen anyone rejected.

The answer is 42 ::yes::

I'd like to see the math you used to figure this out. Is it based on the number of posters and numbers of threads? Perhaps frequency of posts? I just know there was some complicated equation. ;) :rotfl:

Any thread ove 5K posts/replies should be on its own page. they rudely hog the whole front page with no remorse.

Mikeeee

I heard it was all about the mouse...or mice...or something like that;)

Then we can meet poolside at WDW, act cranky, run the poor drink guy ragged, and then laugh about it for a year after it happened because that's the only time we got out of the house. :lmao:
