I just recently purchased BWV resale and want to add on at BCV --- do you think this is silly since they're practically the same?? Should I try to waitlist an add on at BWV and keep it all the same or try my 2nd choice of VWL?? What do you guys think?

I don't think it's silly at all.

We own BWV and will be purchasing some add-on points at BCV. While they are in the same area, my concern is being able to spend time at SAB now that they have discontinued pool-hopping at SAB. Owning points at BCV will allow me to ensure that we can stay there.

Now the only problem that I have is convincing hubby to save $500 by spending an extra $3200 LOL

I don't think it is silly but it is like eating vanilla ice cream and then saying I want a different flavor, french vanilla.

We initially looked at DVC because we saw the BCV's being built. Couldn't wait the 1 1/2 years so bought BWV resale. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we liked Boardwalk after having been BC fans for so long. We really debated about whether we should add on at BCV or buy another BWV resale (or waitlist with Disney). I think Stormalong Bay is what pushed us over, even before pool hopping there was cancelled. We have equal points at each resort (200 each) so its enough with banking or borrowing to do a complete stay at one resort each visit. If you have 100 at each, it may not be enough points for an entire stay and then you would have to change resorts if you were not able to get in at the the 7 month window. Many people do not mind moving resorts, personally, I like to stay put. The location is everything about these resorts- so if you don't care about the pool it might be easier to keep all your points at one resort. Also gives you more to work with if you ever want to rent a GV!

Kem,
we bought at BWV for the same reason, and now we are BC members, too. The only problem is that we have stayed at other resorts, notably OKW, and we loved it so much that we are now saving for an add on there after we finish paying off at BC. I just had the nicest time at OKW the last two times we were there, that I think we were meant to own at OKW too. I am not so sure about BC, I wasn't impressed when I went for the opening. Part of the problem was that we were staying at OKW in a 1 bedroom, and BC's one bedroom did nothing for me! We are staying at BC next spring break, and I can't wait for that, because I think it's different when you actually stay at a resort, rather than just look at it. I have 450 points now, but when is enough-enough? 500?600? 1000?

I own 225 pts. at BWV and recently added on 125 pts. at BCV. The plan is to use my BWV pts. for longer higher-point trips, doing whatever banking and borrowing I need to do. I'll use the BCV pts. for shorter trips, or maybe a longer trip every 2-3 years. I don't mind that the 2 resorts are very close together. I figure that I can always make my home resort ressie at the 11-month window. Then if I want to try out VWL or go back to OKW (which we loved), I can see if either is available at the 7-month window.

I'm still pretty new to all of this. Became DVC member over 2 years ago, but haven't stayed at either of my home resorts yet! But I'm anticipating being perfectly happy with whatever DVC resort I wind up at each time. All are Disney quality, all are on property, all have their own theming and "personality", and so I'm looking forward to eventually staying at all of them. JMHO! :)

Cruella, You can NEVER have enough points! (ask Terry S ;) )
I suspect we will like OKW as well when we eventually try it out- Right now I can't tear my DH away from Epcot area- his favourite park.

Personally, (I may be a tad bias here), I would want some points at a DVC that is totaly different. To diversify to VWL would be my choice, but no, it's not silly to want BCV.

That being said, it is your choice, not mine. All DVC resorts are beautiful, and I would like to have points at all of them!

Thanks everyone for your feedback --- as of right now I think I'm going to see if I can add on at BWV right away -- if I have a long wait(list) then I will ask about VWL -- if that too is a long wait(list) then I will just add on to BCV so I don't have to wait -- I LOVE that area like so many others -- it's my fave area of WDW -- so owning at both BWV and BCV would be ok but I do think it might be easier in the long run to have all my points at one resort and if that's not possible than I'll look into VWL for the diversity.

Of course its not silly!! We just added another 270 at BCV so now we'll have the 11 mo window at either resort. Our alternative was to add on at BWV and I didn't want to wait for the "right" resale. They'll both be great and we'll get a little variety while still close to Epcot.

Ww initially bought at OKW and then added on at BWV. Oh, what's that - another resort near EPCOT - OK. So we added again at BCV. Now we can take the peace and quiet of OKW and the hustle and bustle of BWV - and throw in (what I think) a combination of the two in BCV. I'll let you know after our December trip.:jester:

Not silly at all. We own at both and can't wait to try BCV. We love the location and I doubt that we would have added on anywhere else. We have 225 pts at each place.

We joined at BWV, and have completed an add-on at VWL and an add-on at BCV. The resorts have their own advantages and different personalities.

ralphd :) :)

We have 200 at BWV and 100 at BC. We have the ability to book two resorts at the 7 month window and have already been able to get VWL for a december trip w/o any problems. We would love to stay at OKW sometime, and I am sure we will be able to book within 11 months at some point over the next 40 years. LOL

We were looking for a BWV add on, when we thought - lets get BCV instead, given us more options.

I don't think it is silly at all!

But maybe that's because we have a few points VWL, a few more points at HH, then more points at BWV and even more points at BCV!

We love all the resorts and love knowing that WDW (and HH) truly is our second home. With a little advance planning, we could drop in for a day or stay a whole week or more (a far as those points can be stretched!) at a variety of accomodations.

The flexibility with DVC is great!

I don't think it is silly at all. I am seriously considering adding on pts at BCV and for me it is because it has such a similiar atmosphere and essentially the same location as BWV that I am considering adding on here. I have stayed in resorts at all the different locations ie MK resorts, Epcot resorts, etc and have stayed in all the levels of rooms from value to DVC and I love the Epcot resort area. For me, it is definitely my preferred location at WDW so adding pts in this area is a plus. I also really enjoy Stormalong Bay and the whole YC/BC side of the lake so I know I will like staying at BCV My only hesitation is it would be much easier to have all the pts at one resort but small resales at BWV are not easy to come buy. If I want to stay at other DVC resorts I have found as long as you can be flexible with your dates and villa sizes you can usually get reservations at other DVC resorts at the 7 mo window.

Yep, own at both. After our last trip we decided we needed
more points. My plan was to buy some at HH and some at BC
but since we had to cancel our two-day stay at HH during our Feb. trip to Florida and having never been to HH Island, I opted to purchase all of them at BC. After reading some fantastic posts about HH in the last two days, I just know I would love it there and am wondering if I should have went with my original plan. Then again I'm sure once I actually stay at BCV's those (minor) unsettling feelings will vanish. All the kids (my girls and nieces/nephews really enjoy the SAB pool.

Now, if I can get HH during Easter (anyone ?? is this
reasonable at 7 mths??) I'll be happy . . . otherwise I'm
gonna seriously have to think about purchasing some there.

All in all, I consider DVC one of my best investments!!!

We on at BWV and just added on at BCV. I just love being able to walk to Epcot and MGM, so the location is great for me. I've been on a BWV waitlist almost since they sold out, (Sept use year) so I've just given up adding on thru Disney. I toured the BCV and was just "wowed" by their subtle beauty, and since we wanted more points, it was the thing to do.

We thought about adding on at VWL, but we live in the woods, so we don't need to vacation there. ;) The BCV are more "our style"--beach atmosphere. (Now, I have had thoughts about adding on at OKW--beautiful resort!--maybe in a year or so...!) Dream on...eh? :)

I own at BWV and was going to go on the wait list for an add-on there, but after talking to my guide and reading all the hype about BCV I added 200 pnts there instead. (yes I know that makes me a Lemming) Looking forward to our 1st stay in 7 days!

Tink Fan, why don't you offer to trade points with someone from HH, that way you both get the advantage of the over 7 month window. That's what I'm going to try to do for our April 2003 trip, as we want to stay at OKW then.
