Just Back from YC...What the Heck is Going on w/ Them?

I stayed at YC last November. The only person who was nice was the girl who worked at the valet stand outside. The people at the front desk just don't seem to care. I stood there for almost 20 minutes one night while the guy chatted on the phone to a friend "Dude, I don't get off until 1am, I can't make it." "Damn, Dude, why do you have to be like that?" "Yeah, yeah....hang on.....(looking at me) Do you need something?" Uh, no, I just REALLY enjoy standing here, you go on with what you're doing. They messed up my Candlelight Processional tickets. I go to the front desk, they tell me they don't have them, I have to go to Epcot. I haul myself all the way over to Epcot to be told that since I was staying on property, my front desk had them. I go all the way back to the front desk to be told....you guessed it.....Epcot has them! Finally, I go to my room and call Dining. I tell THEM what's going on and I had had just about enough and I don't even want to see the stupid thing anymore, just refund my money and I'll just eat at the restaurant and stand outside! She called the front desk for me. I don't know what she said, but when she called us back she told us go to the front desk because they have them. We did. They had them. Unfortunately they had the wrong time printed on them! But, they were reprinted and I had a great time.

I also love the resort and would stay there again in the future. At least I'll know what to expect. If you have low standards, you can't be disappointed, right?? So, I'll expect to be treated like crap and if it happens, no biggie and if I'm treated nicely, then it's a real treat! Ah...the things I'll do for my Disney vacation.
 
Sorry, WDWChick, my mistake! Does sound like you got a raw deal, then! Glad it all worked out in the end!
 
We were just there this July, and the service was just as wonderful as it has been on all our previous visits.

I almost sounds like they rotated their staff, and now they have the Polynesian CM's that I've heard complaints about. Hopefully by our next visit all will have improved, or this will turn out to be an isolated incident. :eek:

Wow!!! I can't believe all this stuff. When DW and I honeymooned down at YC in 98 we had a great time and the staff was wonderful.

We ran into the same problem with trees blocking the "water-view" room. If I bent down quit a bit I could get a view of Crescent Lake, but only the lower 1/3. I called down to the front desk, and didn't even mention it was our honeymoon. The CM asked me to hold for a minute while they checked our room designation. She said we do have that listed as a water-view room, but the trees had obviously grown since the map was drawn up. She told me that someone would be up in 5 minutes to take a look. In just about 5 minutes there was a knock at the door. The CM asked us if we had unpacked anything yet. We said no, and he said "great...let's get all your stuff together to move to your new room." They moved us to our new room which had an obstructed view of Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk.

I hope these are isolated incidents. I would hope that you write the YC/BC management and voice your concern over the situation you encountered. The only way they are going to hear about it is if it is in writing.
 

We have have stayed at the BC a couple times and although the resort is great, we also experienced problems with the staff. We have been staying at the Swan or Doplphin for several years now (10 times) and have been absolutely delighted with the service & resort. We will not stay anywhere else.
