Hi, For all of you WDW veterans I just had to share the funniest comment we heard on Sat. at Epcot. We were leaving the park and near the front and there was some people looking at the map and the man said "I see the golf ball has a ride in it" ! The 4 of us chuckled the whole way to the car! What a classic!

It's always amazing to see how much ignorance there is concerning WDW. You would think that if you are going to drop a ton of money someplace, you would do some research, but evidently a lot of people don't. I have heard people getting off the monorail, at MK, wondering how long a walk it is to the 'golf ball'!! Or people that will tell you that the buses will take you anyplace. We had one group board the bus with us at AK, get off at AKL, and scream at the bus driver because he wouldn't take them to the GF!!! I tried to explain that only the park buses will go to the resorts but they had dinner plans for Boma and were traveling with a gentleman in a wheelchair, it was raining and they wanted door to door service. I told them to go to MK, then take the monorail to the GR. They wanted to know if it was a quick, covered walkway!!!! They couldn't go back to AK since the park had closed. Yep, people need to do some homework.

My nephew worked as an intern and people would always ask him:

What time is the 3 o'clock parade?

isn't there already a topic for funny comments?

We overheard a mom talking about riding Big Thunder Railroad Mountain. Just struck us funny. :rotfl:

Our family always jokes and calls it a golf ball. My son made that comment when he was little. Just always stayed with us! :rotfl:

My own son last week said "Mom, can we go ride Tommorrowland?"  I thought shhhh, I thought I had taught you better, now they'll be talking about us on the DIS!!! :rotfl2:

I am the Disney World fanatic in my unit, here, at work. One day I was speaking with my co-workers about my most recent trip. My supervisor also was saying how she took her kids to WDW quite a few years back. She told me they also went to Epcot. When I spoke of Spaceship Earth, she just stared at me for a minute or two, then said " You mean there's a ride in there ? " She spent all that money and hardly knew where anything was.
She let the kids go into the Haunted Mansion, but she stayed seated on a park bench all because she just assumed it was only for kids.

Even from my very first trip to WDW in 1993, I did all my research !!

I dont get what youre laughing at?

The fact they called it the golf ball? LOADS of people call it the golf ball! Or the fact they didnt know until they read the map that there was a ride in there?

Or am I being dumb and missing something! :)

Sitting here in Indiana (It's really lovely this time of year), it doesn't do much for me either. In its full context however, I'm sure I would find it rather amusing as well.

Might be an old one, but my Dad always said EPCOT stood for "Every Person Comes Out Tired."

EPCOT = Every Pocketbook Comes Out Thinner

I've been to WDW over 30 times, and we affectionately refer to SE as "the ball." :goodvibes

Same here, it was my DD who said that on her first visit. Now we laugh and call it the golf ball. Yes we do know what it's really called.

Add me to the "do not get the joke" list. We also lovingly call Spaceship Earth the "golfball". how can you not? IT LOOKS LIKE A GOLF BALL! I think lots of people do this......

I think the funny part is that they did not know until they walked into the park that there was a ride inside the "golf ball". There have been many threads about people who don't research one minute about their expensive vacation!

I like how so many people think that Disney World IS the Magic Kingdom.

I ask "While you were in Orlando, did you go to Epcot?" They say, "no we just went to Disney."

DUH!

YES! That is soooo funny!!!! :rotfl2:

Ok all...........I started this thread for the "Golf Ball" comment. I guess you had to be there! Bottom line is that they had just paid a ton of $$$ to get in and they were standing at the front looking at the map and looked like they didn't have much idea about what was there and where to go, what to do etc.... It just struck us funny!

I dont really have a specific example of "funniest comment" but wow I love them all while staying there. Im no WDW expert, but people tend to call the me the "WDW Fact book" haha... and I just love it when people just brandish their ignorance proudly. When a group/couple passes me and and someone in the group will ask a question. Then it never fails that someone in the group will just answer with the most crazy, rumor filled, bologna answer. I try not to bust up laughing. Also I don't even try and politley inform them with the correct information. I just shake my head like "wow". (we had a couple of these people in my tour groups. Its amazing how someone would pay to go on a tour and try and correct a guide.) Really screws up the experience for the rest of us.

Or another great comment is when people make up their own ride names. "Hey lets go ride the Haunted Mansion of Terror." Or "Hey lets go ride Splash Down that is by Thunder Railroads." Just a pet peeve of mine when folks can't get a rides name down. lol Sorry if I seem a little harsh but it cracks me up how clueless people are.
