My understanding is I can bring 6 12oz cans of beer per Adult when we board and at every port.
My question is on how strict they are on "beer". There a lot of cocktails in a can. Jack Daniels and Coke, Margaritas, etc.
Are those allowed since they're 12oz cans? How closely do they look at the contents?

The rules state beer and wine only, no liquor. How closely the content of the cans is checked may vary by security officer. If you take the risk and are stopped, it will be dumped (it will not be held for you).

My wife and I each took an 8 pack of Vodka Seltzers both when we boarded in Galveston and again in Nassau. We were not stopped either time even though it was seltzers and not beer and we had 2 more than allowed. (they don't sell them in 6 packs)

Your mileage may very of course since it technically not allowed- but we had no issues at other either time.

Actually if the drinks are bought at a port stop and not when first boarding they will absolutely hold any alcohol that is not allowed for you. You get a claim for it and pick it up the morning of disembarkation.

You are allowed to bring on wine or beer in any port of call same as at embarkation. It does not have to be held.

Yes, I understand. However, if guest purchases canned cocktails while at a port stop and DCL determines they don't fall under the "beer" category, the drinks can be checked and picked up at the end of the sailing—they will not be thrown out. In fact, if you're trying to bring them onboard at embarkation and they're not allowed, you have the option to either let them be discarded or return them to your vehicle if you have one parked at the port

O gotcha- I see what you were saying now. Yes that’s correct.
