June/July/August 2006 Code watch

Oh thanks for the laughs guys. The guy with that sad little dog.....too funny. I am hanging in hoping but if not we will stay put anyway. I think it is too bad they are cutting it so close for those that will be beyond their window of canceling without penalty if no codes come out. Arg pirate: it may be time for some drastic measures... who's with me? I may be sacrificing my expiring AP to the code gods.

With gas predicted to be $4+ /gallon this summer, and the free dining for late summer/early fall I think they'll HAVE to offer something to fill the rooms in June/July. I'd be very suprised if they didn't offer at least a resident discount..although that would do most of us no good.

We cancelled our 1 night before BCV at Pop for June 9th and booked a Travel zoo special. This was about a month ago, I figured THAT would make the AP rates come out. So sad.

I got the AAA discount for 5 nights at the Beach Club beginning 7/31/06.

(I already was a AAA member)

The rate was $259, down from the rack rate of $305.

When AP rates come out, I hope to knock the price down a little more.

I spoke to a very nice cm this morning and he said there should be no need to worry. last year codes were released within a month of travel and they expect them to be released very soon including june. :cool1:
now i know they don't know anymore than us but it sure felt nice when he said that. so heres hoping!

Good Morning all AP ticket holders (or soon to be) :sunny:

I called at 8:30 AM EST - no AP rates, but the wonderful CM did say, he thought June would not be skipped and to call back again tomorrow.
So lets keep saying 'I do believe in the code fairy' :tink:
pixiedust: Let everyone have a Magical Day !

AAA rate info:
We have an AAA rate for the end of June at the Polynesian
Garden View @ $332 per night

Rack rate is $369 per night
So AAA gives a savings of $37 per night (10% off), saves tax at least ;)

I would love an AP discount of 25% off ($92), if one does come out :cloud9:

It used to be percentage...often 40% off...but the last AP discount was a flat $25 off of a value resort...not sure how much on other resorts.

I know if I call and book the rate will be released the next day...just so I have to call twice (finding a quiet moment to do this is hard with 3 kids!). So I think I'm going to wait to book until either a week in advance or when the AP rate is released.

I've resigned myself to Pop at full price...but if we can get an AP rate the kids might get a character meal with the money we save.

For September I've already decided that we'll be using priceline for the night before and after our DVC stay....about a week in advance. I'll consider otherwise if and when an AP rate comes out for then.

I'm done obsessing...off to clean the house and play with the kids...

Ziggy - welcome to DIS

Annual Pass rates vary - sometime a percent - sometimes a $ value off.
The latest AP rates were a $ value...

Travel dates: 4/23/06-6/3/06. Discounts are $25 per night off Value resorts, $40 per night off Moderate resorts and $100 per night off Deluxe resorts. Book by 6/3/06. Use code EZN.

No AP rates annouced for after June 3rd as of yet.
Still hoping some are released :goodvibes

I am not going until August and am anxious, it must be terrible for those of you going in June

Here's a question for all you DISers. My dilemma is this: we have reservations at the Yacht Club frojm 6/9 - 6/17. I have an AP that expires on 6/17. We enjoyed getting the AP rate last June at the Beach Club and loved it!!! We are a family of 5 so are limited in where we can stay and our kids are ages 14, 16, 18. I have been faithfully watching these posts for months and cannot believe an AP rate has not been released. I know many of you don't think you should book a room you cannot afford but we did that last summer and applied the AP rates when they were released in March and it worked out great. Now, here we are waiting to see if AP's are released but it is getting late and we are getting rather discouraged.

The bottom line is we will not be able to stay at Yacht Club at rack rate so if AP rates are not released, we will cancel our reservation. Now finally to my question: what do we do????????? Do we cancel our Yacht Club reservation and change it to POR? (we feel that is our only other option staying on Disney property with a family of 5). Or do we continue to hang on to our YC reservation and trust that codes will be released? If we switch to POR and AP rates come out, do you think there is still a good chance we could switch back to YC and get the AP rate? Of course, our last option is to stay off-site and stay cheaper and have more room. Are we crazy to want to stay on Disney property even if we have less room (POR)? What to do? HELP!!! :confused3

The rooms at POR for 5 are few. I would book it asap if it were me. Are you a gambler? That is what is going on for a lot of folks.

If your kids are 14,16 & 18 you will need 2 rooms @ POR (the trundle rooms only accommodate a fifth person age 9 & under). I believe that will cost you about the same as one room @ YC. We are a family of 5 also and go through this debate every year. We did one room @ POR until '04 when our two youngest were 9, but that isn't an option now. Our personal preference is one deluxe room over 2 value or mods. You could also consider FW cabins which sleep 6. If it weren't for free dining this year, we would be using our CAA (Canadian version of AAA) membership discount @ BC, which worked out almost as good as our AP discount last year. For us this year, free dining is cheaper than a CAA or AP room discount, so that's what we're doing. Starting next year I'm just going to book with my CAA discount and if free dining or a great AP rate come out, then I'll switch to that. This will eliminate the hoping for an AP rate as we'll be almost as well off with the CAA discount and WAY better off with free dining. Good luck - hope you get something you love!!! :wizard:

I think that the trundle bed will be small for a teenager. A wing room at the contemporary or a room at the AKL will fit five. If available they would be a little less expensive than Y&B.

Thanks for your replies. I have tried to book POR online with a family of 5, listing their ages and it comes up available and doesn't reject us because we are five. Maybe I'll give Disney a call and see if it's possible.

I think you will be able to book it, it will just be uncomfotable for an average teen to fit in the trundle. If it were my only option for the trip I would book it. :goodvibes My family of five stayed in a trundle/bunkbed room at Grand Californian and it worked fine, but our youngest is seven.

This March I stayed at POR with a 17 year old sleeping in the trundle. When I called to book the room the reservation agent wouldn't book it, he said it had to be a child 9 or under. So I simply booked it online. Our party actually ended up fighting over who got to sleep in the trudle! We found it really comfortable and we all wanted to be the one who got the bed to ourselves! I think it is plenty comfortable, but having stayed at the Beach Club as well at Riverside I will say that you will be crowded. Maybe you could rent DVC points for a 1 bedroom villa somewhere. They will allow 5 in a one bedroom, you will have more room and it generally costs around the same amount as a moderate. Just a thought.

We stayed at 5 at POR last summer when my mom and sister joined us. Of course, my DS was only 6....so, it was no problem getting the room.

We were concerned about the trundle....so, we brought a twin sized Coleman double-high airbed with the pump. Again...just like Stitch1404....we were fighting for the airbed....lol

Anyway....just throwing another option out there. I would deflate the airbed each morning using the pump (in reverse). It took about 3 minutes to deflate. I would then re-inflate the bed when we took our afternoon break. We had no problems and everything worked out fine.

I just called Disney and they said it was a recommendation not a requirement for the trundle bed age. I may be switching my ressie tomorrow! Thanks for the info- you still can't beat staying inside Disney property! :mickeyjum :goofy: :donald:

I really like this idea, but I don't understand the whole renting DVC points process....would someone care to explain it to me? I'll try anything at this point!!
