Have you looked into Disney's transfers? I'm not sure what the cost is, but in Florida it was in the neighborhood of $30 per person...

Welcome! So excited to have other little ones on the cruise. We are sailing with DD age 3!

:goodvibes
Hi! It is good to know that there will be others on board. The most children I think we saw in Oceaneers last year was ten?!

I've been taking on board the packing tips thank you. We'll definitely get some of those portable scale thingies for the return trip too. We went suitcase shopping yesterday but then raided my mums loft and found some reasonably light cases which are now sat on our landing. I want to start packing already! Will have to make do with endless lists for now. Think we may stay at the airport the night before to maximise on sleep potential.

Will there be a Pirate night? pirate: Trying to think of things to engage my little boy with though to be honest ..... when he heard the words Disney cruise he was at the front door ready to go so I don't know how we're gonna get through the next few weeks :rotfl2: Listen out for "if you don't put your shoes on/ eat your dinner/ stop teasing your little sister we won't be going on the cruise". I promise myself no empty threats but I can hear that one coming! What about movies being shown etc. Have I missed this or is it just me that likes to know such minute detail?

Pirate night is the night of La Spezia. Which cruise dates did you take in 2007 and 2010. We did both those cruises, we took the last cruise in June for both those years.

Thank you!

We did the inaugral Baltic cruise, 12-24th June 2010 and the Med, 6-16th June 2007 - they both seem like a life time ago!

Thanks for the link. I'm afraid if we take a cab, we'll have to to take 2 cabs because we're 4 people with 4 large suitcases. Hotel to Port and back would be ok as 2 cabs ... still cheaper than hiring a car service. The trip back and forth from the airport though might not work out so well.

They have different sizes of taxis in Barcelona. They have saloons cars and people carriers.

On last year's westbound transatlantic, there was 4 of us with 4 large suitcases and a hand luggage each and it was fine. We used the larger people carrier and didn't need 2 taxis :thumbsup2

That's pricey for 4 people.

We are using the train from the airport into Playa de Catalunya. We deliberately booked a hotel near there so we don't have far to walk with the suitcases. It's only a few euros.

On the morning of the cruise, we won't be more than 20 euros to the port.

That's interesting that the earlier June cruises had that many fewer kids. Both the late June cruises were packed with kids. We are going to Scotland prior to the cruise and the kids are going to meet up with playmates from the clubs they met on the Baltic Cruise (their Disney friends live in Northern England).

You've put my mind at ease. We'll cab it to the hotel from the airport and to the port as well.

Hi Everyone -

We are trying to book this cruise as our honeymoon after our May 26 wedding in Disney World! We are booking through Dreams Unlimited, but our agent is on a Disney Adventure until the 24th. This is only our second cruise ever (we did a "trial" cruise early in January to make sure we'd like it). :) We looked through all the port adventures on the disney cruise line website, and are interested in at least one per port. Having read through this thread, it sounds like a lot of you are looking to book stuff on your own, does that mean you're not going to book through Disney?

We are not sure if we'll be able to book the port adventures through Dreams Unlimited or if we'll have to wait to get on the ship. Does anyone know if we can book through DCL or online or something before getting on the ship? We didn't do any excursions when we cruised in January so we have no idea how any of this works!

Thanks! Gwen & Todd (26 and 27, respectively)

First off, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :thumbsup2

Once DCL has confirmed that you're paid up for the cruise, you can access your reservation online and book the excursions yourself. You won't get charged for them until you're on the ship. It's pretty darn easy to do so just get on the ship first and the rest comes naturally! :D

Can you not use another agent since yours is away?

Thanks!!! :goodvibes

You're very welcome :)

Hi Gwen and Todd :welcome: Congratulations !! Remember to get Dreams Unlimited to tell DCL that it's your honeymoon, so they will make a fuss of you onboard. DCL love to know if you are celebrating something and your Travel Agent can note this on your reservation.

My DD will be so jealous, her dream is to get married at WDW someday and have her honeymoon on a DCL ship :lovestruc

Also, go to guest services and get the "just married" badges to wear, you have no idea how much fuss everyone will make of your special occasion :cloud9::bride:

You can book all your excursions up to a few days before the cruise, so you still have plenty of time :thumbsup2

We would like to see the Tortoise sanctuary(largest in Europe), ride the small gage rail through the mountains and tour Ajaccio. Does anyone know of any tours that do this and not advertise in French only so I can understand? Maybe they have vans that take up to 6, our three would like to join, or someone could join us. Grandma, two teen girls 13 and 16.:cheer2::cheer2:

Congratulations newly weds

Have you checked out taxi fares? Someone posted this on the main forum....
http://www.worldtaximeter.com/ , and just use this as a guide. I think taking a cab is a lot cheaper than private transportation, unless you have a big family and will split the cost. From what I read here at the boards, Taxi fare from airport to hotel would be around 25-35 Euro. So far we plan to take a cab from Airport-Hotel-Port, what i'm worried about is from port to Airport, I read that It takes a while to get a cab at the port due to long lines.

Zoom,

I had read that somewhere, too, that there can sometimes be long lines to get a cab from port to airport on the last day. Our flight is at 12:30 p.m., so I've been wondering if I should book some private transportation. Is that what you're going to do, and if so, do you know which company would be best?

Hi Chris,

I like the idea of taking a cab from port to airport bec. it is cheaper than DCL transfers or private transpo. BUT I'm worried about the lines..... There are few companies that are recommended by previous cruisers but they have mixed reviews.
You guys are flying AA right? BCN-JFK-Texas? We have 12:30 flight too, BCN-JFK-LAX.... If you're interested, maybe we can hire private car/schedule a taxi pick up and split the cost.

For those of you staying at hotels near Plaça Catalunya, Placa Espanya, or Plaça Universitat you may want to look at the Aerobus for transportation from the airport to hotel. The cost was about 5 euro one way the last time I checked, it’s probably not as convenient as taking a taxi but it’s definitely cheaper.

We are taking the Aerobus to save some money. After the cruise we are going to Las Ramblas and so wanting to get the blue shuttle bus that runs from the port to Christopher Columbus monument. Does anyone have any previous knowledge of this? Will it be running when we arrive, were there long lines for it? :confused3

We are not booking a taxi or private transfers so don't want to be waiting for a bus that never comes! I've checked the websites and they say it doesn't have a timetable.

We waited about an hour last year. The taxis were all very organised, but we were waiting for ages :sad1:

Welcome and congrats on the upcoming wedding! A good friend of mine got married at WDW and it was beautiful!

As others have mentioned you can book DCL excursions on the website once the cruise is paid for. We are doing a DCL excursion and 2 private tours. We are using DCL for Naples and private tours for Malta & Rome. We like the idea of private tours because they are smaller and more flexible. Here is a good thread for finding tour companies or navigating ports on your own. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2663068&highlight=med+ports

Other than that we are navigating the ports on our own. Happy planning :)
