June 8, 2011 – Mediterranean

What a fantastic trip! I hope everyone had as good of a time as we did. I'm so glad that my months of planning came together smoothly. We saw some fantastic things and made great memories.
We arrived home Monday evening and I was disappointed not to have a towel animal on my bed Then the post-vacation depression set in. Maisie is already asking when we are "going back on Mickey's boat" so I guess it's time to start planning our next trip.
I took about 2,000 pictures and I'm working on a trip report on my blog. I've posted pics through Rome if anyone is interested.

Can't wait to see "all" your photos. We didn't see you after our walk to the train station in La Spezia. I never got a chance to ask the "hippie" about his hypnotic experience. Please do tell

Hey to all I met and bummed around with!!!!! We are still not home and are on the border of wishing I was. Visiting with my sister in London till next Wednesday. Flying to Paris on Sunday for two days just my sister and I. Leaving Dawson with the family!! Yea us!! When we got to Barcelona we took transportation to center of Barcelona and yes we found the open air bus!!! Best tour ever. Got to say Barcelona was our favorite place!! Will be going back. Will post/share photos, etc. later!!!!!

Hi Sharon!!! WOW I'm sooo jealous that you're still on vacation!! Is Kevin back to the States? Yes I agree, Barcelona is beautiful!! Have a wonderful time in Paris and regards to Kevin & Dawson.

Venice was wonderful and I would love to go back. I heard a rumor that DCL might be going to the Eastern Med in 2013. I hope this is one rumor that is true.

I have pictures that I will send you soon.

I'm going to make the FB page private tomorrow night. I think you can still go to it if you have the link but I want to make it less searchable. I'm not entirely comfortable with it so open right now. After I make it private, post away!!

And by coincidence, somebody on the cruise has the same last name as I but is not a relative! weirdness. So if you join, it might look like I've populated the group with family members .... I haven't. LOL

LOL - The hypnotist was really funny. Jason said he was really relaxed and open to suggestion while on stage. He was just glad he didn't have to do anything really embarrassing.

Thanks again for helping us find the train station, I'm not sure we would have found it on our own.

Testament that we got sun and it was powerful sun in the Med ... I don't burn. I've never burned. I don't put sunscreen on (the only time i ever did in my life, I got a weird rash). So, it was no suprise to me that after only a few days of walking around the cities of Italy, my arms got really dark. (You only had to lift up my t-shirt sleeves to see how much tanning I got. LOL My friend called them farmer's arms.)

Well, it's been a month since our cruise started (wow, time flies, eh?) and the skin on my arm is now peeling. Never before in my life has that happened. Guess I'll put the sunscreen on next time I'm down in the Med.

If any of you went to the Colliseum in Rome, you may remember that the tour guides repeatedly warned us about the "Roman" Gladiators that were all over the outside of the tourist attraction. We were told that if we wanted to get our picture taken with them, to make sure you haggled a price BEFORE you took the photo or they would take you for a ride.

Who knew the Gladiator business was so cuthroat:
