June 29, 2008 - Magic - West Coast!!!!

I was so excited to be able to book everything on Sunday night. I was really nervous. I thought I might not get what I wanted. I guess I got lucky.

Hello to all,
We are just now getting excited for our 2nd Disney Cruise on the Magic. Made our Palo reservations, traveling with extended family members :dance3: , 4 cabins in all. We are with Hawaiin Mickey (cousins) and Tiny Bubbles (sister-in-law). It will be Hawaiin Mickey's 50th and my birthday :bday: :bday: the day we set sail. We will of coarse celebrate at Palo's. I'm lov'in the cheap Mexican prices as apposed to last summer in Europe. Although, you can't compete with Europe, that was a cruise to remember. Anyone on this cruise that did the Med? All I can say is WOW!!! That was fun. This cruise will be a little more relaxing. Hope everyone gets their Palo reservations. See you soon.

Hi Kay, Mickeyteachers, and EmEyeSeeKayEeWhy!!!!! I think I'm getting excited. Billy, my 15 year old , will turn 16 on June 30 while on the cruise. Not to mention the pirate night and also the FOURTH OF JULY !!!!

Hey Bill...you're crackin' me up!! :lmao: Everyone in my house is extremely excited as well :goodvibes My oldest son is a little concerned he won't meet anyone real quick...he's a little shy and reserved for a 12 1/2 year old...he'll turn 13 this August. But I know for a fact he wouldn't even want to TRY the teen club :scared: , so we'll see how it goes. My 11 year old daughter on the other hand would have a BLAST in the teen club (so would my 6 year old for that matter)....but she'll be helping my oldest meet a few kids in the OC. Funny how that works!! :)

Hey EmEyeSeeKayEeWhy, BTW, can I call you EM for short? I think my copy tool is getting tired !!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: My daughter , Kristen , would likely be available to make friends. She is very outgoing. If either your son or daughter just need someone to hang with, let me know. I think we still have a picture of us somewhere on the net from the Panama cruise. I'll have to look. If I find it , I'll let you know. Billy is 15 and I'm sure he will be in the stack. He was 5'8-10'' when he was twelve and they let him in. Even then , he was taller than a lot of the teenagers there at the time. Imagine, each teenager got his own shipboard pager so that they could page each other. They also had a homecoming toward the end of the two weeks where they all dressed up and danced as well as pictures. What great memories!!! We had a mid ship cat 3 with a 20-30 foot balcony,,,WOW!!!!!! Anyway,,,,,, back to reality. HERE WE GO!!!

Yup...Em's fine :thumbsup2 Have you made any plans for before or after the cruise? Disneyland, Universal, etc etc? We'll do Dland the night before, but we go there quite frequently so it's more of just a hangout for the day to make sure we're close to the port and won't be late :thumbsup2 Also maybe to buy a few 'Pirate' goodies for Pirate night. pirate:

As a matter of fact, we will be staying at the Grand Californian both before and after the cruise. We arrive 6-26 and I think leave 7-8. Don't hold me to this.
I hope to go to Disneyland at least once. We have Cedar Point season tickets and will use them at Knotts Berry Farm and probably at the water park also. Billy is hyped up to go to an anime convention somewhere in Los Angeles the day or two at the end of the cruise. I don't know. I, however, want to go to the Stinking Rose restaurant!!!!! It is in Beverly Hills and its specialty is garlic. PRIME RIB!!!! Are you familiar with it? Is it the place to go? Is is easy to get to? come on , Em, guide new friend, Bill and family:dance3: :yay: popcorn::
Do you know the name of the chicken place in front of Knotts Berry Farm?
Oh Oh,,,,,, I sense trouble,,,, Yes , it is,,,,, That famous rock/pop group,
New Bananas on the Block!!!!!

we went to the stinking rose for MIL's birthday...yum. The garlic spread is yummy...I tried the garlic martini...well...it had to be tried, you know? LOL

Cryssi,,,, I need to know,(inquiring minds, you know), Is it great? What about the prime rib? Do you need to get ressies way in advance? Any other tidbits to know about?

The chicken restaurant is called "Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restaurant" hope that helps.

Hi Kouris family!!!! Thanks for the info. Is the chicken really that good?
KRDisneybound says it is the best there is.
Bill

Bill, it was in fact, pretty darn good... :) I didn't have the prime rib, but DH said it was really great. I had some seafood stew thingy that was like cioppino. My only gripe was that it was really salty for me. Ressies are tough on a Saturday (when we went)...I don't even know if they take ressies on Saturday, or maybe that's just for a large group. Go early and it will be much less painless than going late!

Aloha,
Stnkin Rose is great it was featured on the food network.
For the best prime ribs you should try "Lawry's". That's where the Rose Bowl players eat before the big game.
You should also try the Napa Rose at the GCH. The food is the best inSoCal.
Any restaurants in Orange county you need to know about just give a holler.:cool1:

I couldn't agree more with Napa Rose....AWESOME! Totally OT...but anyone know what happened to some of our 'thread participants' from Day 1? I just so happened to look back today to earlier pages, and realized how many had actually booked back then, and we haven't heard from in a while. Just curious ;)

Hey y'all! OP here.... I'm here...we are here... mother/daughter - 6th cruise...very excited. :cool1: Booked excursions, etc... just very busy with my son graduating from high school and all the volunteer work for Grad Nite, college visits, decisions = drama. :scared1:  By 6/29 decisions will be done, I will be cruising listening to Jimmy Buffet with the Drink of the Day with my lovely daughter.... it will be HER time then! She deserves it!

Looking forward to 6/22 -- we are going to watch the Magic sail away! Knowing in one week we will be on it, I can't wait! :wizard:

We love Napa Rose! The mushroom soup is yummy! Try dining at the chef's tables (reservations only). I love to watch the chefs prep...I'm a Food Network/Top Chef junkie! :)
