June 29, 2008 - Magic - West Coast!!!!

Hi:flower3:

Just popping by to say hello and wish we didn't have to cancel.:sad1:
But the good news is that we are going to try and go Thanksgiving Wonder cruise because we know my DH work should not be effected then.:)
It has been a crazy year with his travel. But we would rather him have a good job then not.

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL!! Time and give lots a hugs to Mickey and the gang!!:grouphug:
You all are going to have SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish we were going!!!

I was wondering, how many of us are from CA?

Ok...so I needed to share. Tonight I had to go and help sell girl scout cookies with my daughter at a 'booth' outside a local market. We did very well by the way....but anyway, a woman walks up and buys A LOT of boxes. "Cool" I said and noticed she was wearing a Disney Cruise Line t shirt. So...of course, I HAD to ask when she went on her cruise. She said she and her family went on it 5 years ago....but obviously, not knowing me from 'Adam', she felt the need to ask if I knew that Disney had their own island off of Florida, and said that DCL was the BEST cruise line EVER. Hmm...of course I knew they had their own "private island"...have I ever been there??? No....but we had a great conversation nonetheless. I love that people I meet have such a great opinion of the DCL. So anyway, she took her cookies and left...but I sat there for 3 hours thinking about the cruise!!! :woohoo:

I was looking through the cruise info the other day!

How formal is everyone going for the formal nights?

Well, for us personally...we're not "black tie" type formal wearers. I actually love the look, but we tend to be more comfortable in shirt/tie, not a gown but a nice dress. I know it doesn't seem much different, but I can't really explain it. Maybe since the shirt/tie and nice dress are already in our closet, and we don't need to add an additional 'tux rental' to the trip. My daughter's the one I'm going to need to tie up to even GET her in a dress! :rotfl2: But, my DS's will probably wear something similar to my DH. What are you guys thinking about?

Not sure...we were joking around about the tux...lol, but most likely he will be in a suit. I'm actually looking forward to shopping, since I've re-worn most of the stuff in my closet already... Since we are in socal, we don't have to worry about putting anything on a plane...sweet!

Aloha,
Just got our travel kit for our cruise. We are soooo:cool1: exited. So many excursions to look through. Have so much to read before the 90 day mark.
Hope everyone is doing fine.

aloha,

Yes...living close to the port does make it nice on us since we don't have to haul anything on to, and off of, a plane. I'm still debating whether or not we're going to drive down the day before. Can't decide. But I guess I'd better figure it out quick. There won't be any rooms left anywhere. :)

We all up here in No. Cal are doing great!! The weather has been absolutely AWESOME lately. Low to mid 70's, gentle breeze....I'm lucky enough to be a stay at home mom and can sit out and relax and enjoy it! Otherwise I'd be calling in sick :rotfl:

Orange County here too!

I already have on my calendar the Saturday(S) I'm dragging my DH down to San Pedro to watch the Magic sail away. We did this last time we cruised the Mex. Riverera and it was a great way to countdown the days. Plus I love waving to everyone knowing I'll be up there soon!

I still have these dreams of boarding too late and feeling like I'm going to miss the ship and I'm missing the sailaway party. Because last time, I asked my parents to drop us off and they were late and I THOUGHT well, it will be okay, we will at least just WALK ON the ship but the lines were so long!

This time, DH will be dropping DD9 and I off very early! :woohoo: :woohoo: Poor guy, then has to watch us sail away hours later. popcorn:: What a wonderful husband.

Saw the Disney Cruise Line special on the Travel Channel tonight while cooking dinner. :cheer2:

I have also spoke to people who mentioned they are thinking about taking the Disney Cruise and I'm like - well you better decide and book now - it's very expensive to book so late. Woo hooooo! Getting excited! :woohoo:

Well, I just got back from paying off our cruise :cheer2: Now I think I need some clarification. There was a thread on the main board about an additional charge for each port if not paid in full by the 4th of this month. And they didn't charge me today the 7th when I paid it off. Did I read that thread wrong? :confused3 Wouldn't be the first time I was confused. Anyway, my Friday is going to be great knowing I'm PAID IN FULL :jumping1:

How early should we get to the port? They start letting people on at 1, right? If the lines are ridiculous...how early??

Hmm...makes me wonder if we should leave here in the Bay area around 3 in the morning??? Kidding obviously, but I've been thinking that no matter what time we leave here, the ENTIRE week is about resting and relaxing...so even if we leave early we'll have plenty of time to make up some much needed sleep :thumbsup2 Has anyone made definitive decisions on which excursions they'll go on? I'm still stuck on the Pirate ship in Puerto Vallarta....hopefully they'll be some spaces left when we get to book!

not really. I want to snorkel and maybe swim with the dolphins...not sure if I'll do either, though...

Hi Guys! What a whirlwind week!!! I'm exhausted...but now I have a week off (Spring Break for the kids), and I get to think about 'Paradise' for a while. Anyway, does anyone happen to know...We stop at 3 ports...what is best to buy at each port?? Is silver better at Mazatlan than Cabo? Or leather (purses, etc) better at one port than the other? I actually was curious because I know there are things they sell on the ship itself, and didn't know if there would be better 'buys' in the ports. I'm really a newbie when it comes to this, so just curious if anyone has any experience to fill me in on. :worship: I would appreciate it. ;)

FYI...I asked Mazatlan Frank the previous question, and this is what he had to say...

Mazatlan has the best price for almost anything because we are a city that deppends on many things apart from tourism.
Cabo and PV depend on tourism mostly so things are tourist price mostly. Plus Cabo has everything shipped by plane or boat so their cost goes up.
A good shop in the Golden zone is called Michaels Gallery. Look for Miguel who is the owner or Susie who is the manager and tell them that I told you about them so they give you a very good discount. They are flexible and as I take quite a bit of people there, they are even more flexible with me. ANyways, for leather, there is a place next to Michaels Gallery called Gabys Leather factory and also Constantinos leather. They do custom made jackets and vests.
Hope this helps!

Mazatlan Frank

Thought this might help some during planning....
