We usually take the train because I'm cheap. Although we had a very early flight to JFK out of SeaTac last month and I drove to the airport. The parking was $47 a day. I won't be doing that too often.

We drive our own car with the exception of several of our trips in the last several years and upcoming trips.

We used to use The Parking Spot (earning free days and all that) a lot. With some of our more recent trips being so long we don't want to pay for that much airport parking. We've been renting a car in these situations and taking it 1-way to the airport (a 40-45min drive from our house) and doing the reverse for the drive home. It's cheaper than rideshare and cheaper than a private car service. If it's a shorter trip we'll do The Parking Spot and depending on the cost or free days and the time of year we'll do covered parking.

When my husband goes for business he drives our car and normally has been parking in the parking garage at the airport as he hasn't been wanting to deal with The Parking Spot. He'll do this next week when he flies for business.

In a few weeks we're actually driving to Chicago (8hours) to catch a flight and have a 1-way rental car set up; we did this back in 2023 as well.

It depends on what city/stare we are going out of….In CA, sometimes our youngest son is around to take us to the airport. If he’s not available, we Lyft it to John Wayne or LAX. In AL, we go out of Pensacola for the most part. We’re more remote in the Gulf Shores area, so we drive and park.

Have a fabulous time, @slo!! Eat all the fun stuff and have a great time with Mouse! 🐭 🏰

I usually get dropped off by a family member or use an rideshare. I'm actually driving my family to BWI as they're catching a flight later today so it's a mutual agreement lol

We usually drive ourselves, but sometimes we'll take a rideshare if the trip is a longer one, just to save the parking fees. Have the best trip, @slo ! We'll miss your polls!!

We also usually drive ourselves to one of two airports less than 30 miles from the house.

When leaving from home we drive ourselves. When heading back to the airport at our destination it depends on the situation there. We've used car services, limos, ride shares, hotel shuttles and rental cars.

The first time I flew we rented a car locally and dropped it off at the airport. The closest airport was 2.5 hours away and it was a 15 day trip. This was cheaper that driving one of our cars and parking in long term parking. The two times I flew for work we used a park & fly lot. this upcoming trip I am driving my own car and parking at the airport. This is a smaller airport than we used before, only an hour away. I didn't even think about having my daughter drive me to the airport, especially since the return flight was originally supposed to land at 11pm.

If I were flying today I would probably use a rideshare. The last time I flew was the year before Uber was founded, so it wasn’t an option. I live about an hour from the airport with no shuttles available, so I used family to get back and forth. I didn’t trust leaving my car in the parking garage that long.

We used to drive and park at the airport, but for the last several plane trips we've taken the metro. We live in the suburbs on one side of our city and the airport is waaaay over on the other side. The train ride is about 30 minutes, zips right by all the crazy traffic, and much cheaper than the parking.

Have a great trip, Slo! :)

I live about a half hour south of PHL. Up until Covid, we would drive to the airport and park at one of the off-site parking lots, like Parking Spot, that had a shuttle to the airport. After Covid, the garage attached to the airport had reduced prices that made it similar to parking off-site, so we tried that. We were instantly hooked - no guessing how long it would be before the shuttle showed up, no "bouncy" ride to the airport, no overcrowding on the shuttle (all of which really made my mom uncomfortable and more nervous about flying). Despite the prices going back to "normal" at the airport garage, we still find it worth it to park there and avoid all the things we didn't like about the shuttles.

We drive ourselves to the airport and pay to use the covered parking lot while we are gone. Makes things easier for us...you never know when you might get stuck with a delay.

I checked 3 boxes. Sometimes I drive and park, sometimes DH drives me, and in a pinch I will take a car service (vs UBER/Lyft). Since they are coming to my home to pick me up, I do feel safer with a local company. I fly in and out of Philadelphia, and use Delaware Express. For offsite parking we use Parking Spot (formerly Colonial Parking).

I love seeing so many people mention BWI that is the airport we usually fly out of unless we go out of the country where we take the Amtrak to Newark. We use a private car service to the airport or train station. My DM who usually vacations with us is concerned about leaving a car at one of the lots at the airport or train station. Plus, the friend who comes to get our mail and paper starts up our cars once or twice. One time before we thought of having her do that we returned from a trip and one of our cars did not start. Since then she always does it and we feel better knowing someone is looking after them along with our house.

I do this too! Even better if you have an AA Aviator card and get access to their ground floor parking lot!

For years we have taken our car and left it, never more than 7 days. Economy lot rate is $11 a day. There used to be a private off the airport property parking option, but I think it went out of business 30 years ago.
We have a two week trip coming up in September. I was thinking about renting a car, as that option is less expensive. Other issue with the economy lot is the shuttle only runs every 30 minutes, and there were complaints they ran must less frequently than that. It was such a controversy that the airport bought 11 additional shuttle buses to help solve that issue. Mind you, Sacramento is not THAT big an airport. The rental car shuttles run much more frequently.
My wife has made it clear we will never ever use an Uber of Lyft. So that option isn't available.

We always drive and park at the long term parking lot. We book way in advance as often cheaper plus find a discount codes.
