June 2014 Rental Car Deal Watch Thread

Wow! Did you use a code? I am picking up and dropping off at Sanforf airport. I would love to get at rate around 200.00!

Whoops, I was wrong...its with Budget. I am using the Entertainment rate and coupon. Its dropped a few dollars every day this week, so I keep checking.

Is 355 a good rate for 9 days for a full size car?

Imho, no. I have $250, all in including insurance, for 12 days. I posted the codes earlier.

In the past travelling during this time of year, I usually start seeing a lot of movement about 3 weeks out. So I have my "safety" reservation in place but will start checking like crazy next week when I am 21 days out.

Well we are 24 so let the price dropping begin!

23 days out here and I've lost all hope that these prices are going to drop. I prefer to rent from Alamo for personal travel and the biggest issue I've seen this year is that all the coupon codes I'm finding for them are restricted at MCO.

I do have a safety reservation through my business account with National, which will suffice, but it's at least $75 more than the steals I've gotten from Alamo the past two years for the same time frame.

lori8481 I am not hopeful either. I am 24 days out and haven't gotten lower than 260.00 for our 9 day rental. The last email I got from Alamo stated that they were changing Insiders program to only a 5% discount and no more free second drivers starting June 16th so I wonder if that will have any effect on the rates that we are looking at?

21 days out now and just checked Alamo again. Looks like they're finally displaying some savings & coupons via their "Deals" tab for MCO. Best one I saw was $25 off weekly rental plus 5% Insiders discount. Still not enough savings for me to leave my National rental, but rates aren't too bad for some of the larger, premium vehicles including mid-size SUVs and minivans.

Has anyone ever successfully used the VROOM VROOM code for Alamo? It's bringing the price down on my 6 day 11 hour June rental, and it seems as though all taxes and fees are included in the price. I can't get any coupons to work with it except for the one car class upgrade, which still helps. The steepest discounts appear to be on SUVs, convertibles and mini vans.

Is vroom vroom with a space? And is it coupon/contract/ or product code? I've tried it in all 3 and it says "not valid" every time.

Sorry about that. It's contract ID 299851. The only coupon code that I've gotten to work with it is the free car class upgrade, coupon code AU5235ASJ. (It will "accept" other coupon codes, but they do nothing to alter the price.)

Thanks. This brings my rate down to the same that I have with National. Getting closer...

The best I have been able to get is an intermediate (Dodge Avenger or similar) through Budget for June 5-9 (early morning June 5 to evening June 9) for $159 using codes BCD D464700 and MUWZ005 for the coupon. It beat out our $188 through Alamo. I have an economy through Dollar for $155, but for $4, I will take the bigger car. I'm hoping it keeps dropping since Budget was $190 yesterday.

Yes, using name your price. I originally put in $25 a day and it was denied. Then I put in $26 and it was accepted

I got an intermediate rental through Budget for 6/5-6/9 for $144 and used the BCD Code W852875 and MUGZ061. Slowly inching down!

It pays to check at different times of the day too for rate changes. I checked Budget this morning. $295 (I am looking in PHX for 12 day rental-price is for full size including all taxes/fees with COSTCO and $40 off coupon). I rechecked this morning and it was still that rate----just looked again and up to $369 for same everything. I learned a few years ago when we did Disney to check a few times a day in the 2-3 weeks prior to trip. I'd book/cancel/rebook and sometimes 2 times a day. Every bit counts! :)
