June 2014 Rental Car Deal Watch Thread

Yes, I used codes.

8572130 is the corporate code. It is for KLM airlines which I joined.
and
NDA2324BR which is a BJ's coupon for $30 off.

Can anyone use the BJ's code or do you have to show a membership card? I just got a midsize from National for 9 days using the KLM code (I am a member), but it wouldn't let me use my Entertainment book coupon for some reason. Total for now is $255.59 for midsize June 15-23, but I'll keep trying for lower. As it gets closer, I should be able to use a last minute code from National too. Hopefully it'll take my $25 off from the Entertainment book as well.

Wow I just got a midsize SUV in Tampa from 06/28-07/05 for $229 using National and KLM and BJ's coupon! That's $100 less than anything else I could find. Thanks ccgirl.

I called National and asked why it wouldn't let me use my Entertainment Book coupon code, and the guy said it was because the KLM code brought down the rate too low, so they couldn't be used together. That's ridiculous because my previous reservation allowed me to use both, and it was only about $23 more than the total for this reservation. I'll keep trying, especially once the specials on National's website include the dates of my trip. The guy also told me I could only use one coupon code per reservation, but that doesn't make sense either since there are 3 boxes for coupon codes on the reservation screen. I'm sure I've read that people stacked codes for National.

Rental rates for Thrifty went up leaps and bounds for my June 8-20 rental in Tampa. Glad I reserved my SUV for $377 the other day. :car:

I was allowed to use both with no problem :confused3 Hopefully it'll work out and you'll be able to use both.

Down a bit June 27- July 7 National with KLM code and BJ's Coupon 277.53. Keeping an eye and hoping they go down a little more.:rolleyes1

Holding steady at 277.53 = National. Come on prices please start coming down...:confused3

After entering the KLM and Bj's codes, the website warned that I might have to show membership to use these discounts. Does that ever actually happen or will I be ok? Thanks!

From what I've seen on the boards, no, they don't ask for proof of membership. However, I did join Flying Blue just in case, which was free and right away I got an email confirmation with a membership #, so I'll show them that if they ask.

I am a member of both.

Just booked thru National on KLM code and rate was 223 for 10 days and 8 hours. Better than it was last week. Thanks for posting.

Hi all, Just booked a full size car for 9 full days w/ National & KLM code for $274. Edited: Thanks OP!!! Better than the Budget rate I got w/ a USAA code. Question - w/ the USAA code I get 2nd driver added on at no cost. What is the cost to add on a 2nd driver w/ National? DH won't be with me for the first 5 days, don't know if I can even add him since he won't be w/ me at registration/pick up. TIA!

We'll be at WDW June 15-23. I booked today with National, using the KLM code and a $25 discount from the Entertainment book. The total price was $289.33 for a midsize or better (we'll choose from the Emerald Aisle), which I didn't think was a bad price for 9 days, especially since it includes insurance. I'll keep checking back between now and June, and I'm sure I'll find a better rate. You wouldn't believe how many times I booked and cancelled rental cars for our Hawaii trip last year! It pays to keep checking!
Can you share the Entertainment book code? I haven't received mine yet, just bought it. TIA!!!

National charges $10 per day USUALLY, but that rate is subject to change at different locations.

Join the National's Frequent renter's Emerald Club. I think there is a link to free membership on Mousesavers or it might just be free if you go to the National Web site.

Emerald Club gives you a free spouse or "domestic partner" as an additional driver. Business associates also are free with Emerald.

Once you get that membership, you will have to call National and say you forgot to tie the reservation to your Emerald Club membership and can they link it for you.

USUALLY, National does not want to see, know nor care anything about the spouse or business associate driving. Any additional driver that is not in those catagories however, must show up at the counter and show driver's license (and sometimes depending on their mood, a major credit card).

Or, if you fear phones, you could get your Emerald membership and go look at rates when you are signed into your Emerald account. If rates are the same or better, just book it and then cancel your earlier reservation.

Excellent information Ranger111, thanks! Question - Is Enterprise and National totally separate? For some reason I thought they were related...we had used Enterprise a lot last year, but never see any benefits. Oh yeah just received a coupon for a free upgrade. whoo hoo.

ENT and NATL are basically part of the same company.

You can use your Emerald Club contract ID you get from National to rent from Enterprise and it will shave a few pennies from the usual Enterprise quote -- When you plug in the national generic Emerald corportate ID into the enterprise box it will ask you for the three letter "special code" to activate that ID -- the code is EME

AND, just as an aside. Sometimes (as happened to me on my last trip). I got a better rate from National using the generic Emerald club contract id than I did with KLM --about $55 cheaper with the emerald club contract id -- they will give you the contract id when you join.

I actually just got a 10 percent off "thank you" from enterprise.

For some reason, the link I gave to national emerald does not work, probably because I was signed into my account at the time...so I deleted it from my post.

If you feel like it, you might delete it from the quote you posted so it does not confuse people

Just booked again with Costco and got an intermediate car 6/13-6/22 from LAX heading to DL for the first time and probably last trip for 235.49 !! I was so excited to see the price come down. I had booked with costco for $314 last month. yay!! I wonder if it will come down anymore before my trip??
I did go on budget website and noticed I could pay up front and it would bring the cost under 200! I'll keep that in mind. Trying to save money for Cali gas prices! :)

Love DIS boards! Such a great help in planning our trip! :grouphug:

Best I have done so far is Entertainment Book code and coupon on Budget. Tampa pick up, Orlando drop off 6/12-6/21 full size car. $260.60 all in. I have been checking for months and everyone else is over $500. Hopefully start seeing some downward movement soon!

Quick question about the Entertainment coupon, I have the actual coupon pages, my SIL ripped them out of her entertainment book and gave them to me. Would I need anything else?
