June 2014 Rental Car Deal Watch Thread

Was able to pick up a midsize at Dollar today 5/31 - 6/10 for $219 with the city special. Much cheaper than my National with KLM, however I do like the insurance provided with National. Decisions, decisions.

Are you renting in Florida or California?

Keep checking as prices may start to come down soon.

Looking for a minivan rental out of Tampa for June 14-26, and would prefer an on-site company. Best I've found so far is $554 from EZ (shuttle). Anyone seen better deals?
TIA! :thumbsup2

Docleger,
I plugged in your dates for National using the Emerald Club (which is free to join) using the KLM code (which is also free to join) and the BJ's 30.00 discount and the price was 455.11 for a mini van. You could pay 333.03 to take a chance with the emerald aisle with the chance that there may be a mini van there but there is no a guarantee that they will have one available on the aisle. Good Luck hope this helps.

If you gamble on the Emerald Isle and there is not a vehicle there that will work for you. Then what?:firefight

Not a gamble, really.

The terms of EA service are quite clear. You will get a choice of at least a midsize car.

If a "midsize" will not work for you, and you are not a gambling person, you should reserve the catagory you want.

Of course, you can always elect to "change your reservation" at the counter if you do not find anything you like in the EA. You'll likely pay full walk-up rate, which, is usually quite pricey.

The odds of finding a minivan in the EA -- well --

As PP stated, the "or what" is that you get the mid size car you rented.

As for vans on the EA, about 80% of the time I have rented there have been minivans or SUVs on the Emerald Aisle. I was prepared for the mid size car the other 20%. If a mid size car would absolutely not work for you, I would rent the size you need and not take the chance. YMMV.

Just a got a minivan with Thrifty using city deals on Thrifty website, June 8-20 for $477. No special promo codes. :confused3

Just a heads-up....looks like Thrifty and Dollar dropped mini-van prices a bit today. :thumbsup2

I have a 2013 Ford Escape and I love it but there is not a ton of room in it. So if you need a larger vehicle for luggage and passengers this may not be the car for you.

Is 355 a good rate for 9 days for a full size car?

I have a full size for 10 days for $253 all in right now with Dollar. I am hoping to get it below $200. June 12-21 Tampa pick up, Orlando drop off.

Thanks! Yes I am the driver for the "more experienced" travelers of our reunion group and I will have between 4-6 most days there. A van is easier to get in and out of and a must when there are 6. Fingers crossed and checking daily! :drive:

Wow! Did you use a code? I am picking up and dropping off at Sanforf airport. I would love to get at rate around 200.00!
