July 26...who's coming with me???

We will probably let oldest DD sign herself in/out as long as she uses pager to let us know when and where she will be, and we'll try the post-it notes in the room as recommended on this board. We also have 2-way radios but I'm not sure who/how we will use them. Don't think we'll let DS sign in/out--not ready for that yet!

Thanks for the info on hair braiding. I think I like the idea of the modified head-band type--less painful, still looks "tropical" and special with less problems later. Might try to talk them into this.

Still no docs for us  though I'm not worried, I'm just a little anxious to get them "in hand".

Meant to ask before.....any pin traders amongst us? We have never done this before but did buy about 25 pins to take along & try trading on the ship. Sounds like fun.

Why hasnt Elizabeth emailed me back? No affence I really like her and all I just wonder why she hasnt emailed me back yet.

shania1627-Between Elizabeth having restricted use of the computer and being so busy with Cheerleading she just doesn't get much time. This weekend she is with her father. When she gets home on Sunday I will let her check her email. Sorry.

Hi there, my daughter (age 7) and I will be traveling on the 26th also. It is our first cruise and we're very excited. It would be great to find another child her age. She is eager to see the kids club and usually makes friends quickly, but it never hurts to have a friend ahead of time. We are at the Hyatt th night before.

We will be sailing on July 26th as well. I'll be travelling with DH and DD (4). I haven't seen any other kids as young as her listed in this thread but I'm sure she'll make lots of friends.
We are celebrating our 10 year anniversary on this trip. We are Disney addicts and have been to WDW too many times to count, but this is our first Disney Cruise. DH and I have cruised other lines quite a few times and we took DD on Princess when she was 2 1/2 (they accept 2 year olds in the kids room if potty trained).

We are getting really excited!

Cathy

Thanks for joining the thread...
Don't worry , there will be plenty of children your kid's ages. The last Disney cruise we took, there were over 700 children on board!!

OK everybody ... Here I am! Although I have not posted since way back on something like page 5 or 6, I have been keeping up with all of the posts. These boards are great therapy. You know how it is. I think to myself (How many more days until the cruise? Time is sure passing by slowly. I know there are other people like me out there longing for the cruise to get here. I think I'll check the boards. Then, I get my fix.) I don't usually spend enough time on the computer to post a reply. However, since you guys specifically asked about me, I decided to take the time. Not that I ever doubted, but you guys are really nice folks. Thanks for wondering what I have been up to. Well, in short, here is the deal ... Our school has a summer program which gets very busy. In between dealing with that, we vacationed to Disney. Dawn, that would be only the second time in 2003 - once at Easter and again this past June. Confession = We are investigating a November trip to coincide with the Saints-Bucs game in Tampa. My wife Lisa (oops, I think I am supposed to say my DW - right?) wants to do Halloween in Disney since the game is scheduled for November 2. My problem is getting tickets to the game which Lisa could care less about. Anyway, that's what we are looking in to. After Disney, we took a short trip to the beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama for the 4th of July weekend. Honestly, throughout the weekend we kept talking about how when the beach weekend was over we would be able to start packing for the cruise. One other interesting event has occurred that has created some problems for us with the cruise. The documents never arrived for one member of our party. When I called to inquire, they had the wrong info on her. Although she is a first time cruiser, Disney's computer picked up on another passenger who cruised before with the same name. Her documents were sent to the wrong person. We finally got that corrected (actually WE should have caught it sooner but did not - our fault). Just last week, Disney billed us $59 for changing passengers. Of course, I called right back and explained the problem. They then waived the $59 charge. All in all, it was a minor inconvenience which helped pass the time and gave reason to call Disney. We think it is over with now - unless 2 people with the same name show up at the terminal. Wouldn't that be interesting! On another note, I read that you folks were planning to meet by wearing certain color shirts. Is that the deal or is it still in the planning stages. I am interested in meeting all of you. Perhaps, I'll just stick close to Dawn and leave the details of finding all of you nice folks to her. Ok, Dawn? Well, when I decide to reply to a post, I go on and on. Sorry. See you guys soon. Boy, it feels good to write that! Joey

Welcome cathyce2 and L24teacher...hope we get to meet you on the ship!! L24teacher, I was looking for someone to have tea with...would you like to join me?? My DH doesn't do tea. Let me know. (Cathy you are more then welcome to come too.)

VolleyballNDisney..I take it from your name you play Volleyball. I wonder if they have a sand court on castaway cay. That would be a blast to have a friendly match of volleyball with my fellow dis'ers.

Why are the days soooooooooo long. I know the cruise will fly by. I wish it was the other way..the wait goes quickly and time on board was in slow motion.

Did you all see the new palo menu.. ..oh my god it looks so good!! If I get 2 desserts does that make me a pig?? Oh well..oink oink then!!

That sounds great. I was actually going to try to get reservations for tea for two with the hopes of finding someone to have tea with. I don't think I'll dine at Palo just because my daughter can't come along, but I definitely wanted to do tea.

You are correct. I love to play volleyball. And, I am hoping that we get to play a little bit on Castaway Cay. There is, in fact, a volleyball net and court set up on the sand at Castaway. On the last cruise we went on, one of the staff members actually got a game going. Before it was all said and done, about 20 folks got involved. It was a lot of fun. We have a few volleyball players in our group so I am sure that we can put something together. Some of us play competitively while others play for the heck of it. On a cruise skill level doesn't matter because "nobody worries, everybody is happy". We would love for you to join us.

we finally got our docs today (Friday). Cruise.com wasn't kidding when they said we'd get them 2 weeks prior to cruise!

oops, guess now isn't the time to relax, now I need to start getting things ready and in order! :p

P.S. sadly, we were wait-listed for early dining but docs say second dining for us. Hope my daughter doesn't sleep through dinner every nite!

Add another family to your list! Our kids are 5(DD) and 10 (DS). DH likes golfing. DW would like to make some new friends.

We are flying in the night before and staying at the Hyatt. Any suggestions on what time to arrive at the port? We aren't going on the Disney bus.

Looking forward to a week of fun away from the cell phone and lap top (is that possible?)

Cheryl

I see you already found us...ignore my post on your other thread. If you'd like fill out the survey so we know more about you, it's on page 5 or so.

Cheryl

Welcome! I have a couple kids close to the ages of yours--DD who just turned 6 this month and DS 9 (in addition to a DD 12). Maybe they will meet and get to be friends. I'm guessing your son will be with 10-12 year olds and therefore not in the same group as my son, but who knows!!?? He loves video games & Yu-Gi-Oh (oops, that would describe any boy in that age group, huh!)

Getting pretty excited here, but wondering where I'm going to put all those suitcases!!! :p

Cheryl,

Welcome.

MY DS is 11 and my DD is 9.

DS is anything relate to sports.

In less than 2 weeks "I'll be wasting away in ...."

Hi Cheryl!

I have a DS (11).

I started packing this weekend. We leave 1 week from tomorrow. I can't believe how close it is!

Did we ever decide on where and when to have our DIS meet?

Dawn,
Just started unpacking from my daughter's swim meet in CT. And figured I would just pack up the toiletries and dress clothes. We are all wearing all the summer clothes so I will be washing and packing right up until the night before we leave.
Don't know where and when the DIS meet will be. But I do know that most of us will be at the Radisson the night before and the kid's have already made plans to find one another.
Some are getting in later than others I know. But maybe we can meet at the pool. Even if it is later in the evening. I know it will be futile to try to get my kids in bed early that night..They will be wired!
Getting together on the ship the first daycan be crazy, what with everyone running around to get dining, spa etc. reservations.
Kerri

Hey gang,

2 questions:

1. how early is everyone planning to get to the dock? I'd really like to avoid the crowd.

2. those of you with 9-11 year old boys: if any of them would like to e-mail our Timmy (10) it would be great. He is starting to get very nervous and says he doesn't want to go because he won't know anyone and he"WILL NOT play with my sister the whole time!"

:jester: :jester: Cheryl :jester: :Pinkbounc :jester: :bounce:

Kerri-

I think a DIS meet at the Radisson will be great but there are a few families who are not staying at the Radisson. I think we should also have another meet on the ship. Maybe we could do it later in the evening.

Dawn

Sounds good..Some others have suggested after the sail away party...before getting ready for dinner or the show.
