July 26...who's coming with me???

MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus..thank god i don't have to say it!! It's an infection that you typically get in the hospital. It's a staph infection that invades your body thru open wounds (surgery) or when you have tubes inserted (such as in Alexis's case). It tends to be very resistant to many antibiotics.

Now on to happy thoughts....IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!

sorry all--I'm not getting emails when posts have come to this thread, so I've missed whats going on. Someone has a family member with MRSA? So sorry to hear about it and the potential for missing the cruise for that person. I'll keep the good thoughts, and, as they say on the disboards, sending pixie dust your way.

Any new packing tips? Getting both excited and panicky all at once. :p

Packing tips...yes! Ziploc bags..quart size, 1 gallon and my favorite 2 1/2 gallon size. Put most of my clothes in the 2 1/2 gallon size bags. I do use quite a few bags, but they are great.
Put all my toiletries in the bags too. Good thing I did this time because when I unpacked my luggage yesterday, my hairspray had leaked out of the bottle. Stayed contained in the bag though..

I'm in Bermuda right now by the way!! This place is beautiful...never been here before. Thank God the Concierge lounge has complimentary high speed internet access. Need my DIS fix!
Anybody else get their docs?
Kerri

Kerri,
I agree those 2 gallon zip lock bags are great. They are just so hard to find. I hope you are having a great time in Bermuda!

BERMUDA!!!!!

And the Caribbean next month?? I am SOOOOOO impressed! LOL and hope you're having a great time. Would love to hear all about it when you return....please post for all of us sitting at home and drooling. :p

Oh, it's a business trip...all work...well that's what I tell my family anyway!! Actually, it has been great..never been here before. Scared away by what I thought were very high prices. But I am finding that it is no more expensive than a Disney vacation. The island is so clean...immaculate really. Beautiful, lush greenery everywhere and lovely gardens. Virually no poverty or unemployment We've been touring hotels and taking tours of the island. We have just a small group of 7 agents including myself and they are a great bunch of ladies. Food, by the way, is excellent. Most prices on par with Disney's specialty restaurants, ie. Citricos, Jike, etc.

DisneyWorldborn2shop:
If you have a Target in your area, they should carry the 2 1/2
gal. bags. I also use the smaller snack size for Q-tips, cotton balls. Makes it quick and easy to locate what you need.

I do have a Target nearby but they don't have them. My DS needed them to pack his stuff in for Boy Scout camp and I lucked out and found them at Sav-A-Center. I bought the 4 boxes they had and have never seen them again. I thought I might possibly be able to re-use the ones he took to camp but now that he is home and I smell them, I think not.

Kudos to the person who invented those wonderful zip lock bags.

Does anyone else feel this way ???

Booked the cruise spring 2002 - didn't feel real

Discovered the boards in the fall - still didn't feel real, but much more informed

Paid off the cruise in spring 2003 - felt poorer, but a little more real

Got the excursion info - yea Disney has finally recognized that we exist.

Got our docs (last week) - yes we are going, now how to find the time to get everything packed, what are we missing, etc.....

Less than 4 weeks to go !!!!

DISNEYWORLDBORN2SHOP and VolleyballNDisney (who seems to be MIA) and anybody else in the NO/LA area.

Stay safe and dry! Hope all is well with you and your families!!
Don't ya love these tropical storms/depressions/hurricanes we are subject to living close to the coastline.

Marie,

Thanks! Actually we are just kind of soggy here with some gusty winds. Just enough to get DH and myself a half day off of work. But not enough to keep DS's baseball team from having their pool party.

We actually enjoy the storms as long as they are mild ones. DH and I love to watch the wind and there is nothing like a good lightening storm.

OH, and VolleyballnDisney just got back from Disney World, again. I forget how many trips that is for them this year. We thought we were bad until we met them.

Hey all,
Got in Monday night from Bermuda...That is a destination that Disney should seriously consider ...sail right from NYC....immaculate, nice people, easy to get around and wonderfully family friendly.
Everybody get their docs by now?
For those of you who are renting cars from Avis..are you returning it on the Saturday after dropping off your party? Not sure what will work out better for us. I will keep the car until Saturday since it won't cost anymore, but was wondering if it was easier to take the Radisson shuttle or the Avis shuttle.
Any ideas?

Kerri: Nope---I knew we'd be the last (to get them) and last we are! Oh well, I guess it keeps the panic mode down for me if I don't have them to look at yet! ;)

About the car rental, we're driving our own so don't have any great ideas for you. Sorry, maybe others have thoughts on this?

Several of us have DD's going--any of yours doing the hair braiding? I've been following a thread about it and am really thinking I should try to talk my daughters out of it--they both have pretty tender scalps. Any experiences with this? thanks!

All you mom and dads of the 12 y/o girls...are you allowing them to sign themselves out. I'm leaning that way but haven't made up my mind. If you do let them do you just do a set curfew on when they have to be back in cabin and do you give them the radios.

Penny-Elizabeth did the braiding on our first cruise at Castaway Cay. We had no problem. She has an overly sensitive scalp when I brush it but was able to handle the braiding with no complaining but a few tears. If they don't do it tight it will fall out so easily and all that $$ is wasted. We haven't decided if she's gonna do it again. I don't want all her pics with the hair braids, hoping formal night we can get a good family shot for christmas cards.

I plan on letting my 11 y/o DS sign himeself in and out of the clubs.

Hilltopfamily-Don't despair my MIL just got her cruise docs today.

We plan on letting our 11 year old sign himself out. We may even let our 9 year old sign herself. They will need to let us know where they are (by pager or leaving a note in the cabin).

We plan on letting them have their freedom as long as they are responsible.

Can't wait, 3 weeks from now we'll be boarding the plane to MCO.

Our kids will be able to sign themselves in and out. They did 3 years ago when we sailed. They were 9 & 11. We used the two-way radios and the pagers, so they always knew where we were and we knew where they were at all times. They were not allowed to go to anybody's stateroom. And they seldom went back to our stateroom alone.
My daughter had her hair braided at CC. She had a modified headband done. The braids were $2.00 each. She had around 12 of them done. Having only 12 done meant that they were not that small and it seemed to me that they didn't hurt her that much and they really didn't cause any breakage.
