July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

She got her Mickey mail today and emails us and says "but there's nothing about golf!" No. THERE ISN'T. BECAUSE THEY COULD GO GOLFING SIX TIMES (we have 6 day tickets!). AUUUUUUGH.
Ahem. It will be fine. This is why I am in charge! ;)
Kudos to you:worship: with a little  thrown in. I can't imagine planning a trip with anyone other than the 4 people that live in my house! Our wants are diverse enough, with an 11 year old thrill seeking diva (sorta) and a 4 year old princess: a DH that can't ride anything faster than BTMRR and loves to eat, and me, who just wants to be in the parks all day, every day. It will be amazing!

:thanks: everyone for your advise. I really really really want to do CP :tigger:pooh::eeyore: now just to convince by friend. Honestly don't think it will be that hard.
I think you were trying for an early ADR, but I do want to share this word of caution. If you are later in the day, CP for us, has been notoriously bad about estimated wait times after you check in. One time fro dinner, they told us it would be 45 minutes to an hour. We ran over to POTC which had no wait and were back in less than 30. Some people we had met the day before at the AK parade said they called our names to be seated about 10 minutes after we left. We shouldn't have left, it was our first trip, now we know better. We had to put our names in again for the wait. The next year we did a "brunch" around 10:30 or so, and were told it would be 15, and it was closer to 45, they rushed us, to finish eating, etc. I dislike the people waiting for the breakfast crew to get out staring at you through the glass wishing you would just hurry up! We did do an early ADR one time, and it worked beautifully!

A dream about me, DH and my friend that we're bringing (Amanda). Since Amanda has never been on a plane, her father is actually really upset/worried about her going through security (don't ask). So in my dream, he actually was yelling at me on the phone! lol guess I feel bad?
My disney dreams are always nightmares, but we have wonderful trips. My theory is that it's like a bad dress rehearsal leads to a terrific performance! :rotfl:

So because I couldn't sleep I decided to do a little figuring. But it's hot in July and you need to drink a lot and rehydrate often. Maybe not the best use of snack credits, but powerade and salty popcorn does wonders. So with all of this we are saving between 500-600 dollars. We are saving more, I think, because dd is still a child pricewise and eating at character buffets pays for her whole day on the plan (twice in some cases.
With those figures, how can you go wrong? I loved being able to get those smart waters, and itzakadoozies to cool off and hydrate the girls whenever necessary (or desired!) That adult to child jump is a doozie of it's own. I remember our first trip, DD1 was a child, and DD2 was free. The jump the next year, adding another adult and keeping a child, was scary!(Close to $500!!! more for the dxdp, add in having to buy another set of park tickets on top of it, and we about hit the floor running numbers for the first time). Let us know how the luau goes! We've talked about it many times, but I am scared of the heat! ;)

Well, we did pick the 8:00 luau, because we figured it would be a bit better. The last time we went to the luau was in 1993. It had characters then. It's not so much that I rememeber as that I have pictures of it LOL. I don't really remember much about it except that a) we enjoyed it and b) my son, whose 4th bd it was that day, slept through it in the stroller because the day before he got sick after eating at the Brown Derby (we've never been back) and missed the entire show. We had to wake him up when they brought out his birthday cake. At that time, there was no DDP (that I knew of) and we just paid for the meal. OMG I am really showing my age here. I'll stop now.

Just so that I know I am not imagining that I did look it up on Youtube. ROFL

That's funny! If you give it favorable reviews, we might try it next summer. DD will graduate from elem. school and be going to the high school, sounds like a fun way to celebrate for her. We've got so many pictures of Sophie asleep in meals, she completely slept through Marakeesh one trip, and fell asleep on the table at Ohana last year. She resists naps so badly, our best bet is to stay in the parks all day, she'll crash in the stroller, but they all want to take advantage of the pool more this year, so we'll have one cranky crying 4 year old on our hands.... That's part of my nightmare!

On a separate note - do you or Wendy happen to know Bride Emma's (from 09) new last name? We'll be there at teh same time, and I thought about taking by a wedding/congrats card and dropping it at the GF for her, but I don't know anything but her maiden name....

Thanks for the info on wait times. Yes we are going for a first thing in the morning ADR so we can walk down main street when it is pretty much empty!:cloud9:

Not dreaming, because I can't sleep. And I'm still 28, scratch that is after midnight, 27 days away.

So because I couldn't sleep I decided to do a little figuring. Like what we are saving, if anything, by moving up to the dxddp.

So here are my results: (if you don't care, it's all good! lol)
We were already paying OOP for three breakfasts. We were toying with adding lunch at CRT for both the princesses and the Major Domo Pie (yum!). We wanted to do the Spirit of Aloha because we haven't done the luau since 1993 with ds when he wsa small.

The 5 of those things cost almost exactly our difference between ddp and dxddp. So the upgrade was kind of a no brainer. BUT, we also are now getting 1 more breakfast , 2 more lunches and 1 more dinner. We arrive in the afternoon and don't leave til 8:50 pm, so we definitely needed something on both of those days. Likely 2 meals on departure day. Since the ddp goes by nights of your stay, not days, we were trying to figure that all out. Now I can work that into it.

PLUS we're getting the refillable mugs and 42 snack credits. Now I knw that is a lot of snack credits to get when you will be eating so much. But it's hot in July and you need to drink a lot and rehydrate often. Maybe not the best use of snack credits, but powerade and salty popcorn does wonders for little girls who don't drink enough water in the hot sun and won't wear their hats. Trust me on this. I learned that lesson last time I was in WDW.:confused3

So with all of this we are saving between 500-600 dollars. We are saving more, I think, because dd is still a child pricewise and eating at character buffets pays for her whole day on the plan (twice in some cases). The dinner show and CRT, even more so. Also, staying on DVC points, we're not hit with the holiday surcharge. Both of those things contribute to the overall savings, i think. It's something we'll have to reevaluate once she becomes a disney 'adult' in a few years. But right now it works for us.

If we don't use all the snacks, we do what we did last time. We bring stuff back for DS and his Gf. They couldn't come with us this time, either.

We used many of our snack credits for water in the parks. We brought water with us in two of the suitcases and that was our "beginning of the day water". Then we'd get another one later with snack credits. We did pretty well with that.

We get the DxDP because I can't do fast food so much after my bout with pancreatitis last year. A daily dose of burgers and fries is not good.

Hi everyone. I know I posted this about a week or more ago, but I thought I'd give it a try again since it seems a few more people have joined the group. We have an Illuminations Cruise booked for Sunday, July 17th. We are a family of 5 and would love to share it with another family. It's not the end of the world if we can't. We have plenty of time to cancel, so nothing lost if we don't go. But would love to try and swing it. PM me if you think you might be interested and I can give you the details! Thank you!!

Haha, I could see how that works. The discovery channel says dreams are a way for you to do scenarios in your head to prepare you for reality (or something of that sort) ^_^

Glad you have wonderful trips ^_^ Lets hope mine turn out that way too :goodvibes

I would love to do that, but we're stretching for our trip this July as it is x.x I hope you can find a family to share your trip with :)

And the ticket nightmare goes on.....

The day we found out the ticket prices were going up, I hopped on UT and bought our WDW and Sea World tickets. Don't know why we waited so long to get them, but we did. Anyway, they shipped us the Sea World tickets but NOT the WDW tickets. So I emailed UT....not a problem, your order got "lost in the paper shuffle" and we're processing and mailing today. AWESOME!! Except for the fact that our package left Jacksonville, FL on the 18th and has not surfaced since then. Last time when the package left Jacksonville, it was in my mailbox the next day! So I called USPS....and they said I have to contact the sender. AWESOME!! So now our park tickets are sitting out in la la land, and I AM ABOUT TO FREAK OUT!!!! :scared1:

Take a deep breath. And again. Do you have a tracking number? Have you checked around your house to see if the mailman left it near a door somewhere instead of in your mailbox? I bet UT can track it if you can't. It's going to be okay. It's going to be okay.. You have plenty of time for them to send you new ones out.... BREATHE! UT prides themselves on customer service, they'll fix it!

Magical Express information is going to drive me crazy. First packet came out with no return flight information, so I called a few days later to get that straightened out. Then came the second packet yesterday and now they have no flight information to or from WDW, just a packet of yellow stickers saying no flight information provided. If they don't have us on any flights why would they send luggage tags. Stresses me when things don't go like they should. Now today I will get to spend another hour on the phone trying to get everything right. REALLY I have so many other things to do I am seriously considering asking for a supervisor this time.

On a happier note it is one day closer than it was yesterday.

Just took a second look at the ME information and they don't even have us coming or going on the right date. I better see if I can get my daughter to straighten this out as I may not be spreading any Disney Magic today.

I will let you know how it goes. I have a pic of DD(going to be 8 on Monday) asleep at 'Ohana with a french fry in her mouth last Dec. at 5:00 PM dinner. She'll never stop napping, I don't think. She also fell asleep the year before on the booth seat at Garden Grill. That was the July 2009 trip. She wasn't drinking enough and ended up with mild heat stroke I think. We took her to first aid in Epcot and they pumped her full of saltines and powerade. She threw it all up and they did it again. Then she was better. Sorry if that is TMI. We seem to love first aid stations and end up at one of them almost every trip for some reason or another :confused3

On a separate note - do you or Wendy happen to know Bride Emma's (from 09) new last name? We'll be there at teh same time, and I thought about taking by a wedding/congrats card and dropping it at the GF for her, but I don't know anything but her maiden name....

I don't know it, sorry :(

I wish we could, but we aren't arriving until the 19th.

That's terrible! Don't freak out yet, I'm sure they'll find out what happend to them and get you tix on time for your trip! Worst case scenario they have an office in Orlando, if I"m not mistaken. Maybe you could pick them up when you get down there? Maybe they could deliver them to your hotel?

]So I'm just talking to my neighbor at the bus stop. She asks if we're going anywhere on vacation this summer. So I tell her WDW. She says so is she. I ask her when, she says 7/16 - 7/27. So I tell her we'll be there at the same time and she gets all excited. She asked me if I've ever been before :rotfl2: I said "yes, once or twice'. She's staying at Westgate Lakes or something like that.

Then she starts talking about eating hamburgers and hot dogs all week. And how she doesn't want to do this. She didn't even know that WDW has restaurants. So, of course she doesn't have any ADR's either.

I really shouldn't get involved. I should just let her do her thing. BUT I CAN"T HELP MYSELF.

So I told her I'll look and see what ADR's are available and write them down and give her the website. Then she mentioned again that she doesn't want to eat HB and HD all week. So I told her I'd look at menus to let her know what QS places have other stuff.

I must be insane. It is really the only answer, beause frankly, I am not a fan of this mother or her child (kid is 3 yrs older than dd and not always nice to her).

Call UT, ask them if they can track it. If it is lost again, insist that they FED EX it out to you. That way you have to sign for it and there is no loosing it in a shuffle. You still have some time to get this fixed though...now if you were 2 day's out like Julie is then I would so stressed out!

Well, I have done online check-in for our week at POR in July.:banana::banana:
 I can do mine on the 4th of July :rotfl:

I have yet to even receive my DME package or my Mickey Mail. My TA says they send them out 3 weeks prior to your trip, but we are leaving her to drive to my mom's house on the 5th! I sent her an email stating that if our packet wasn't mailed off by the 2nd of July, to just mail it to my mom's house. I hope it comes before then though. I'm thinking next time we do WDW, I won't go through a TA, all this waiting is driving me bonkers lol

I'm not totally freaked out yet. We do have time to get it resolved, which I am so thankful for! I do have a tracking number, I've been following it along in the USPS system....and I got an email back from UT, which made me feel a whole lot better about it. Their customer service is great! The package is still in limbo, but they're sending me scanned copies of them, which makes me feel better at least! Funny thing is, I've had this really bad feeling ever since I started planning this trip, that something would go wrong with our tickets! Lost in the mail I can handle, that can be fixed. Going up to the gate and having someone tell us we bought bogus tickets...which is what I was SO scared of....I can't handle!

I can't believe some of us are leaving in just a few days! I can't believe when I started my countdown, we were 146 days out! Oh I can't WAIT!!!!

Kudos to you:worship: with a little  thrown in. I can't imagine planning a trip with anyone other than the 4 people that live in my house! It will be amazing!

We have the advantage of having 6 adults and 1 infant, so someone at some point will want to do something that someone else will. But my mom just never listens. ;) ;) I suspect there are things she doesn't want me to know more about than her (like, who wants their child to have more experience as a patient than they do?), but oh well.

The whole set-up was pretty funny. I assigned my family tasks to get this organized and they DID IT! Mom was in charge of the spreadsheet, Dad was in charge of putting in the hours and crowd levels, my brother had... well, he was probably dealing with a newborn so he was excused. :cloud9: Then I went ahead and picked what days we'd do what park... and made everyone list what restaurants they wanted to eat in what park. We all generally overlapped so then I had all the reservations made. DONE! Whew!

On the good news front: my husband got a job offer last week and I was really upset with him about it. (Only me, right?) As a result of me being mad, he convinced his current position to give him a counter offer and then brought that back to the new job... who just came through today with everything he'd asked for.

I'm less mad, now! At least he tried! The only bummer is that we now have to buy a second car, which is an unexpected expense and our current car is starting to get old. I don't want two car payments at one time!

I so wish they had the dining plan when my kids were under 9! That is great you are saving so much!! And, I believe you can never have too many snacks!!! We always end up with extra CS, so I am hoping to figure out how to use those for snacks instead, I have heard it can be done........

That's funny! If you give it favorable reviews, we might try it next summer. DD will graduate from elem. school and be going to the high school, sounds like a fun way to celebrate for her. Well, I have done online check-in for our week at POR in July.:banana::banana:

I think the flight times are less important for the trip down. They really just need to know when to pick you up for the return. Still, it is frustrating - hope they get is all straight soon!

Whenever someone is about to make a mess of their Disney vacation I jump in with the life preserver too! I have a hard time being civil to parents with kids who are not kind to my kids.........

Whoo-hoo! Just did my online check-in for July 4th weekend! I know, we're nuts. And it is SO HOT. We're FL people, so we should be used to it, but dang! Hydration and breaks, hydration and breaks...:thumbsup2

Well it took 45 minutes but I think the Magical Express is finally sraightened out. If not I may jus have them take a van from the airport, really tired of messing with it. Oh well, it is going to be a great vacation once it gets going.
