July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

Last week, I started to hear birds in part of my kitchen
EWWWWW................... Hope they came back out and completely took care of it!!!!!!! I was going to come in and complain about finding mold from rain in the toy closet when I was trying to find the second portable DVD player!

I used to work closely with the NWS guys (and gals) and they're in a position where if they miss something that's possible, they'll feel the heat.Lots of people asked me why I didn't stick with weather when I got out of the military. I always said, from a pure science it was facinating, but like anything it was the politics that made it undesireable.
Thanks for the info. I knew that I shouldn't get too worked up yet, but I had a dream that it poured, monsoon, the whole time we were there. Seeing the forecast was just like reliving that. Sorry you had such a hard time.... sounds like you did everything right, but I don't blame you for getting out!

I have a nice Columbia poncho--just can't forget it.
Did you get it yet??? ;) We usually just buy lots from the dollar store, and toss them when we are done. I hate trying to refold the other kind. But the Columbia sounds nice!

I am so glad it isn't just me, you have no idea! I'm not even looking at that stuff anymore or I would just keep changing things around. It's my crack. :rotfl: ( Oh and seeing how this is DIS, no offense meant if you actually use crack...)
:lmao: You had me looking at CRT ADRs today... but I decided the money would be better spent elsewhere since we've done it the last 2 years. But I want tooo... Still second guessing our Biergarten ADR. DD1 (11) is convinced we're taking her to a bar! not sure we'll like the food, but I am sure the girls will like the "show".

It's been replaced by another weight, albeit a smaller one.

Sounds ominous..... hope all is well!

Tore the toy closet up looking for 2nd DVD player, ended up finding the girls' binoculars for AK, DD2's Tink hat and princess sunglasses, stroller fan, and spray mister.... going to get another assignment done tomorrow am, and then I will tear up DD1s room.... Here's hoping!

DH bought it for me last year in preparation for last July's trip to WDW. Only had to use it once!!! However, I couldn't find it a few weeks ago. DH stole it one morning when it was raining because he couldn't find his. :sad2:

We have the cleaners coming in on Thursday morning so I have to get the house picked up so that they can come in and clean before we leave. Plus, I'm leaving at like 8:30 AM on Friday morning so I have to be done by Thursday evening with the packing, etc. I'll get it done but it's just that last minute push stress that's bearing down.

On a lighter note...

Those attending the DISmeet on the 20th can you please tell me what your all time favorite color is? It has to do with your gift that I'm bringing so please dish!

Purple for us!

So I was talking with my best friend who is one of the 15 going on our trip in July. We decided that we do want to add a character breakfast for our DDs (ages 4 & 6) during our trip. Her parent's will probably join us and maybe my mom, not sure yet though.

Now the question is do we add Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's?

I really want to do Crystal Palace because I keep reading everyone's trip reports and want the feeling of being in MK early to walk down an empty Main Street. Also, her mom is a big Tigger fan!!!

I think she just suggested Chef Mickey's because it has Mickey, I don't think it is a must do for her.

Anyway I wanted your guys opinions on which is better - food wise, character wise, etc.

I have checked for ADRs and they both seem to be available for the day and time we would like. And since they are priced relatively the same (we are staying off site so it will be OOP) so it pretty much comes down to the food & characters.

Thank you very much for all of your input!!

Only missing 2 people for their favorite color :thumbsup2

I got the manitenence people to come back out again....I was vacumning the vent out and blew a fuse :rolleyes1 so while I was out they came out to fix that and guess what? The smell is starting to go away! Then again, I left window's open when I took the girls to the movies. :rotfl2:

I realized I still have to clean out our cooler for the drive down to VA and buy items to go into it. I also have to get a small DVD case and put movies in it for the girls to watch on the drive down :rotfl: Just when I think all is said, done and ready to go I find more stuff :rotfl:

Dalmation~ I've only done CP for dinner and liked it immensely! Maybe I was partial to the view of the castle while we were waiting for our table to be called though :rotfl: We are trying CM for something new this year and I partially wish I could change it to CP but were not slated to go into the MK that morning.

flipflopmom~I would call and complain:scared1: Mold is not a nice thing to have in your house especially in a toy room. Sad thing for me is, I have never had to call maintenence, DH and I always fixed the problems ourselves (his DDad was a contractor and he worked with him from the age of 15 on) but this was just beyond my control....that and I have no clue what I'm doing with a fuse box :rotfl2:

PopArt Girl~:grouphug::grouphug: I'm hoping that the post up there get's off strike soon so you can get the rest of your Disney Mail.

Well, I think I have almost everything packed except for things that I have to use up until we leave. I still have a few things in the dirty laundry pile but it's nominal. I now feel as if a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders. It's been replaced by another weight, albeit a smaller one.

You'll get there. I always stress and always manage to get what I need to do done before we leave.

Did you get it yet??? ;) We usually just buy lots from the dollar store, and toss them when we are done. I hate trying to refold the other kind. But the Columbia sounds nice!

We do the dollar store ones, too. Although we forgot them last time and had to buy Disney ones. I'm bringing them back, plus a few dollar store ones we can throw out.

I've never been to Biergarten. I couldn't stay away from CRT. It's the Major Domo pie for lunch that does it. DH and I both love it LOL

Hey, you did find a good bunch of stuff, though!

Mickey is Mickey, but IMO food is better at CP. We've tried Chef Mickey's on numerous occasions and no one is ever thrilled with it. Character interaction is iffy. Once or twice it was really good. The other times it was very and if they saw they had already signed the autograph book, they moved on. At least at CP if you were still sitting there, they'd come over and play with the kids for a minute or two. Having said all of that, if you have never done CM, well I think everyone should do it once:goodvibes

We love Crystal Palace. The food at breakfast is good, the character interaction is good and being in MK early is wonderful. Have only done dinner at CM's so don't know how the breakfast compares.

I second that about Crystal Palace. We thought the food was good. Great character interaction. Like walking down MainStreet when there isn't a crowd.
We have it planned for our trip in July. We will be there the morning on the 24th my granddaughter's 2nd birthday.princess:

(snip)
With all I did right that day, they still sent out an investigation team to nit pick everything I did. Fortunately they didn't find anything, but if they did, my boss and I potentially would have been punished for it. More than once, my boss came up and thanked me for the job I did, saying I had saved his job that day. I'd love to be a storm chaser, but I have no desire to predict the weather any more.

Who needs it!

My brother made a tee time for him, my dad, and my husband, since we have the water parks, fun & more option. I have explained to my mom almost half a dozen times what that means. And how it's not part of buying a package, but a ticket option. She got her Mickey mail today and emails us and says "but there's nothing about golf!" No. THERE ISN'T. BECAUSE THEY COULD GO GOLFING SIX TIMES (we have 6 day tickets!). AUUUUUUGH.

Ahem. It will be fine. This is why I am in charge! ;)

(20 days!)

3 DAYS!!! I'm so EXCITED for you!! :dance3:

We've also done both and Crystal Palace was our Fav! The food and character interaction was the BEST!! :goodvibes

16 days til we leave!!!

Whoo Hoo!!! Can't WAIT!!!
:banana::banana::woohoo::woohoo:

We will be taking our first ever vacation to Disneyland July 19-24. We can't wait!

:thanks: everyone for your advise. I really really really want to do CP :tigger:pooh::eeyore: now just to convince by friend. Honestly don't think it will be that hard.

Will let everyone know when we make a final decision and confirm our
ADR!

:rotfl:

So, it's still over a month before we go to WDW, with lots to do in between and yet ... I still had a dream about it! :lmao: :rotfl2:

A dream about me, DH and my friend that we're bringing (Amanda). Since Amanda has never been on a plane, her father is actually really upset/worried about her going through security (don't ask). So in my dream, he actually was yelling at me on the phone! lol guess I feel bad?

Lots of other things involving the castle, more friends and waterparks. Very entertaining to say the very least!

Not dreaming, because I can't sleep. And I'm still 28, scratch that is after midnight, 27 days away.

So because I couldn't sleep I decided to do a little figuring. Like what we are saving, if anything, by moving up to the dxddp.

So here are my results: (if you don't care, it's all good! lol)
We were already paying OOP for three breakfasts. We were toying with adding lunch at CRT for both the princesses and the Major Domo Pie (yum!). We wanted to do the Spirit of Aloha because we haven't done the luau since 1993 with ds when he wsa small.

The 5 of those things cost almost exactly our difference between ddp and dxddp. So the upgrade was kind of a no brainer. BUT, we also are now getting 1 more breakfast , 2 more lunches and 1 more dinner. We arrive in the afternoon and don't leave til 8:50 pm, so we definitely needed something on both of those days. Likely 2 meals on departure day. Since the ddp goes by nights of your stay, not days, we were trying to figure that all out. Now I can work that into it.

PLUS we're getting the refillable mugs and 42 snack credits. Now I knw that is a lot of snack credits to get when you will be eating so much. But it's hot in July and you need to drink a lot and rehydrate often. Maybe not the best use of snack credits, but powerade and salty popcorn does wonders for little girls who don't drink enough water in the hot sun and won't wear their hats. Trust me on this. I learned that lesson last time I was in WDW.:confused3

So with all of this we are saving between 500-600 dollars. We are saving more, I think, because dd is still a child pricewise and eating at character buffets pays for her whole day on the plan (twice in some cases). The dinner show and CRT, even more so. Also, staying on DVC points, we're not hit with the holiday surcharge. Both of those things contribute to the overall savings, i think. It's something we'll have to reevaluate once she becomes a disney 'adult' in a few years. But right now it works for us.

If we don't use all the snacks, we do what we did last time. We bring stuff back for DS and his Gf. They couldn't come with us this time, either.

I do the same thing when I can't sleep, it's best to get all your planning out of your head so you can sleep ^_^

I think that is AMAZING that you're saving that much! :wizard::cool1:
