July 2, 2005 - WE ARE THERE!!!

Hi all,

I'm sad to say that I had to cancel our July 2 cruise due to Tony's work. But you all have an AWESOME cruise and know that I am jealous!!!

Barb

Barb, I am so sorry you cannot make this cruise. I was thinking about you and wondering if you would be joining this thread soon since you came back from your last cruise and this would have been your next one.

Amy - I still plan on getting there a little early - but I don't have little ones so I know what you mean. I think they have some things to figure out yet. I read there was a fiasco on the ship with the pin trading/or special repo pin or something. They were giving out vouchers, people were waiting in line overnight and sleeping in the hallways. They did not have enough, etc. Hopefully by the time we cruise - things will go smoother/like clockwork. Perhaps instead of 9, 9:30 - get there for 10, 10:30.

Fran - I went out and bought the sweather holder (a little heavy with the wire inside). 8 open shelves - hope it's good.

Anna.......................Perfect!!!!! You'll be glad you brought it. :)

Did a Wal-Mart run today.. XLT and I got ALMOST everything that we needed for the trip. Just need to get batteries and children's Tylanol. I had the Tylanol in my cart, but Wal-Mart would not ring it up. Something about a recall.......... :confused3

Fran -

I read about the Tylenol and heard about it on the news. It was for the meltaways and one other one - perhaps Jr.? Not sure.

I will use the sweater holder for our cabin since we are three - wondering now if I should buy another for my sons' cabin. My oldest son brings more clothes than I do

Batteries - need to pack those too.

Hey all! I am still resting up from the cruise, but I wanted to stop by and say howdy! It was great! I am sure we are going to have a great one as well.. now, as I am fairly new to this thread, I am not sure about what you all have planned for DIS get togethers and such... and let me say this... I am not a good planner, so I am only making suggestions, not volunteering to plan anything... LOL... I suggest meeting Saturday at 3pm outside of "Scoops" for a quick meet and greet... since Lime Green is the "DIS" color of choice, we can see each other in the terminal and at the meets if we all wear something Lime Green, if nothing else, the Lime Green "Disney Paint Chips" at home depot (they are shaped like Mickey) are free and you can pin one to your shirt with your real name and DIS name on it... Just a thought... If someone can keep track of all the DIS'ers including rooms and such and maybe print it out so we can get in touch with each other on board... As far as timing goes... usually around 2pm on Sea days is a good time... On the last cruise we had a "Wine Tasting" a "Beer tasting" and a "champagne get-together" for DIS'ers which different folks hosted in their rooms... all the events are BYOB so as not to put anyone out... What do y'all think? As far as the Party in the ROY suite goes, do you all want to do a daytime thing or a night for adults only? Let me know, ok? I look forward to getting to know you all... :cool1:

Welcome Back Ron, I enjoyed reading your post on your last cruise. Thanks for starting the thread. As for DIS meets, there have been several suggestions but no finalization of a meeting place. I will leave it to the returning DC travelers to decide.

It is unlikely to see us in lime green shirts, but I will where a green one, and have a lime green tag somewhere on my camera bag - look for it.

I have created a cruise list that has been posted each week. It is a work format, and sent me a PM and I will be glad to e-mail it to you.

As for "a wine tasting party" and a meet in your room, several have posted on this topic. I would be glad to supply several bottles of wine for us to enjoy at such events.

Now that you are the expert, we will be looking forward to more of your suggestions. So let the parting begin! :cheer2: :cool1:

Jim

Ron...........Great ideas! You sound like a party planner to me!!!! :flower:
I think we need to find out what time the 6/4 cruise left and what time next weeks' cruise leaves. My docs say we depart at 4:00. That would make the lifeboat drill at 3:00-ish.

I like the BYOB idea for a get together!!! I need to figure out how to get the bottles to CA without them breaking.............THAT would be MY luck :sad2:

Well, XLT is out of town this week..........DS is at grandma and grandpa's helping out a friend of theirs. It's just DD and me this week........wonder what kind of junk food she will tempt me with???????????

Jim......come on...........we have lime green shirts........you can do it! ;) Found them online!

I have been reading all the messages boards even though I have not posted til now. I am the wife of AZPTCRUISER. I am disappointed that Barb from Chicago will not be able to cruise with us. I was hoping to glean some information on your numorous cruise advantures. I wish I was as prepared as some of you who have already done your cruise shopping. I just got back from taking my daughter to her college orientation. Our group already got our shirts and couldn't find any lime green... so we will be in red. I will try and get the lime green name tags made. We still have no documents either.

Vickie

Welcome, Zebramom!
Glad you decided to post! A daughter off college.........WOW! Congrats to you. :)
Red shirts are fine. It is getting easier to wear our "lime greens". When we first got them a couple of years ago.......lime green was not a popular color. At least now days, you can find that color in stores. You won't be able to miss us!!! :rotfl:

Another week of doc watching. Who will be next????? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Not much going on here this week. With XLT and DS gone......it will just be Kelly (DD) and me. She has gymnastic practice every afternoon from 3-6:30 (7:00 tonight), so that pretty much fills our afternoons. At least it keeps me away from the fridge! ;)

Have a good day!

Welcome Zebramom - don't worry about shopping - you have a few weeks left - you can start shopping anytime now.

I don't know if we can manage to bring any bottles from home - I wonder if there is anything within walking distance from the Best Western or perhaps at LAX airport - and hopefully we can carry it - I know how full our hands will be - will think of something.

Has anyone read the thread about Randi's? Helpful hints. Don't know how to link - sorry.

My dh is always in Home Depot - will try to remember to ask him to pick up some of the Lime Green Mickey Tags - I know we have them for one of our cruises -

Hot day here - I think we can now start turning on our ac.

Enjoy your time with your dd - Fran.

I too am hoping that we can buy a bottle of wine at LAX. We will fly out of Chicago and I don't want the worry of a bottle of wine for the flight. Also, someone please tell me what to buy. I am more than happy to bring, but I am really clueless when it comes to what is good and what is bad. So, please help!!!
It is my first day of summer vacation... :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Plus, it finally got warm enough for the AC. It really feels like summer now. I am thinking about getting the suitcases out. At least I would have somewhere to put all this stuff that I have bought for the cruise..
Have a good day, Angie

:goodvibes Angie..........You better get those things out! We've had ours out for 2 weeks now! Plus, we bought another piece yesterday. (XLT says it looks like we're going to Europe for 6 weeks) Trust me..........once you start putting stuff in there, you won't be able to stop! :rotfl:
Actually, I like to get my suitcases out so early.....I really shouldn't ever put them away! :rotfl2:

Ron...welcome back and thanks for the live reports. It was great following along with you.

Welcome Zebramom

Do airlines care if you bring wine or coke in your carry on luggage.....do they care if you pack it. I would like to bring about 3 bottles of asti, 1 bottle of Crown Royal and some diet coke. I guess I need another suitcase just for my mini bar. Amy.....find me in the terminal, I will fix you a drink and you will forget you have 4 kids :cool1:

Back to the Basketball game!!!

Dave

Well Dave, Maybe if I drank all three bottles of Asti, and the bottle of Crown Royal I might be able to forget the 3 that I can outrun but the one that is attached to my hip my take a bit more. :drinking1 My DH is cracking up when I read him your post because (shhh don't tell anyone :ssst: ) I NEVER drink. I guess I'll have to show him a thing or two this cruise. :drinking: I've never been on a cruise with my 4 kids either!! :rotfl2: My DH said he'd drop me off at the terminal early and then he could come back and fill up the car with our luggage... :rotfl: Nice try. He'd love to send me on vacation for a week with all the kids, his mother and his sister. As it turns out I think we may have to hitch his brother's trailer to our Expedition just to hold all the luggage..Really , I think we may have to do that!! Fran..If you need to send a bag with your shoes ahead of time.. I can get them to the ship for you... :rotfl2:   :cheer2:

One more thing.. we aren't big wine drinkers either..It seems that not many of us are. I can bring a bottle of something if we decide to go that way but I don't know of nor would I want to try a local wine!! I do like the ice wines though and could bring a bottle of that...Very sweet, but good!! Talk to you all later. Amy :flower:

Dave, I am in for the Crown Royal - That is my favorite!!! - I say bring what you like - The fun is spending time with new friends.

Fran, OK, you talk me into it. Picked up a lime green shirt for my son today. I have a lime green polo shirt that I could wear. MY DD says she has a halter top that is lime green that she could wear. Now just have to have my DW select her lime green top.

I would also like to welcome Zebramom -

DS has one week of school left - while my DD is going three days to a school camp this week for the student body members.

Jim

Dave, Please find me in the terminal so I can forget my four kids....I can outrun them all!!! :rotfl2: I am not much of a wine drinker either, but I will drink Jim's local wine anytime. Napa Valley wine is probably the best you can find...... as an aside, our local winery has won gold medals and was in Anahiem in late March 2005 for a huge wine show. They won some medals in The San Francisco Chronicle show and were invited to the So Cal one.

But since we are flying maybe I'll just pack a gallon of tequila ;) .... that should last the two and half sea days until I can restock :rotfl: However, I am getting a little nervous about seasickness. I am very suspectible and will not drink even a sip if I think that I might be ill :cold:

Once again tending towards Drinks of the Day. I can bring a tray of them to the party. Let's plan the party for when the drinks are two for price of one!!!! OR I could just order them room service, I pay for a tip no matter where I get them. :goodvibes

Still no docs. Bags packed and repacked. I am only doing 4 kids and me. DH is on his own. It drives me nuts---- he packs his bags the hour before we leave, SUPER LIGHT and always has enough... I guess the kids always make a mess on ME! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Two more days of school. Yippee!! :Pinkbounc

Good Night
Darcy

You guys are cracking me up this morning :rotfl:

Darcy - my dh is like yours, he will pack his the night before we leave and starts telling me what he needs - and I say, yeah - now you go out and get it or live without it.

- if I see during my travels any green lime or any green tshirt/tops for any of us - will pick it up.

I am surprised no one else has received any documents yet.

Need to get ready for work - talk to you guys later.

Amy........Thanks for the offer! I knew I liked you!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes If XLT can make room for his mini bar, why can't Kelly and I bring our 15 pairs of shoes???????? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am NOT a wine drinker. The stuff I LOVE, XLT calls "Kool Aid Wine" (Arbor Mist) HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Now that I can drink!!!!!! We can crack that open in the terminal, and can dance our way onto the ship. (The girl I teach with is APPALLED that I would put any wine, that comes with a screw top, in my mouth!)

Jim-I'm proud of you!!! Tell your wife that Ralph Lauren has lime green t-shirts. I saw them yesterday at Nordstroms....they were on $44.00! Such a deal for a plain cotton t-shirt! :rotfl2:

Happy Tuesday to all!
Fran

I just read windemerejudy's post on the "Live From The June 4th Cruise"......she said that:

#1 The port " ****s "
#2 That you're very rushed the first day......it's board, fast lunch, lifeboat drill, sailaway, go get ready for dinner.

How many of us have early seating????????

I know XLT and I are trying late for the first time ever.

If I could figure out how to do it, I'd put the link here....but since I'm pretty computer challenged, you'll need to find it on the Cruise Line Forum
