Her comments were ridiculous. I'm sure she'd get controlling real quick if she was the one with the 8 kids. "I give Jon options." Is she serious? Please. Your options quickly diminish when you have children, one or eight. What kind of "options" should Kate have given him? Feed the kids or let them starve? Dress the kids or let them go outside in their underwear? Do a TV show or get a job and not get fired from it? We really do need a puking smiley.

Excellent post. I think it is an ideal that jon decided he did not want to go with anymore. Being a daddy daily. Playing pool and dating young girls is so much more fun, right?

In general, I would say if one spouse says the marriage is over the other spouse is free to date immediately.

I wouldn't say any different wrt Jon Gosselin, if it is true that it was Kate's decision -- and if they have really been separated for a year, I would say they had even more right to walk away. I'm just trying to put aside the facts that I think he should be more discreet and that I don't like his choice in girlfriends. And although I'm not convinced that Kate was the one who chose to split up (since we only have tabloid stories to go on) there is no other version out there.

I respect your opinion but I disagree. I don't think you date until the divorce is final. Otherwise I think of you (general you) what I think of Jon.

And if Kate is dating, same goes for her. In my bokk you just do not date until the divorce is final.

I don't think the issue is how long or short a time period they were seperated before Jon moved out, I think the issue is that Jon has not given himself adequate time to figure out who he is (without Kate) and to heal. I've not been through a divorce but I would guess that it would be wise after 10 years and massive changes for Jon to spend sometime with Jon. Even if you take away the marriage, Jon's life is vastly than it was the last time he was single.

I agree.

Also about the cooking thing. There is an episode in which Jon fixes a traditional Korean meal and Kate and the kids loved it. Kate even commented that Jon could cook once a week or more and he said, no way. So saying he wasn't allowed to cook doesn't make sense.

A quick thought about the mob scene @ the photo shoot... I wouldn't be surprized if TLC's PR people didn't "leak" that Kate & the kids would be there to the papparazi. After all, it certainly got them back on the nightly celebrity news shows, didn't it? "Poor Kate & kids, look what's being done" & all that. I totally think it stinks to put your kids thru that, but all TLC & J&K care about is getting great ratings next Mon. night. I truly think it's just another ratings grab.

Good points. I also think there are paps that are following them right now 24/7. They had pictures yesterday of Jon buying a swiffer mop and then again later going to a pub. There are definitely people tracking them non-stop right now.

I read somewhere that the Michael Jackson custody hearing is scheduled for the same day as JK8 returns to TV. I bet someone at TLC is hating that.

Well, that doesn't make sense to me. If my DH told me our marriage was over and had filed for divorce, after being separated for a year, I don't think it's right that I would then have to wait at least 2 years to date. Maybe it's different where you are, but here once somebody files for divorce, it's done -- the only things left to discuss are custody, alimony and child support, etc. Annulments are often granted long before the divorce is finalized.

In fact, I would say that most people probably start dating again after the separation agreement. I know a few couples that didn't even file for divorce until they found somebody else that they wanted to marry.

Sorry I couldn't find the link -- wasn't that the episode where she also said that nobody else was allowed in the kitchen, that that was the only space in the house that only belonged to her, and that since Jon had to use a recipe that meant he couldn't cook?

But I have to add, it doesn't surprise me that they're doing things separately in these episodes now that we know they were probably separated at the time. It will be hard for anybody to watch these shows the same way that they would have had they not made the announcement that they were divorcing -- everybody will be watching their body language etc. to see if they can figure them out.

Jon never even went to NC .. they couldn't have shown it any other way? They had already said that sometimes Jon wasn't going to be around and I'm guessing they planned this episode accordingly.

I'm a little surprised they're not doing some sort of recap or something that can be hyped to death. Will a regular episode bring in the viewers? Will most of the viewers know that this was filmed before the divorce announcement?

My understanding is that Jon ended things but Kate just filed first.

If I divorced my DH, I would probably wait until it was final to date, that is just me. I don't really see a huge problem with dating before the divorce is final, especially if you have been separated for a while.

But J&K are not me or the general public. They have cameras following them everywhere. If I was separated and the kids were with DH, I could go out on a date and the kids would never know about it. That is my main problem with Jon dating so soon after moving out. His kids are already or going to soon see and hear about this.

Whether you are J&K or just a normal woman like me, you have to put your kids first no matter what, and think about how they are dealing with the separation/divorce, the change in routine, and the many other things that you deal with. That is what being a parent is about.

I thought their kitchen was beautiful, I wonder why they changed it? Also, why would she need to do dishes in the bathtub when they have a full fridge, sink, and many cabinets in the basement kitchen?

Well, I think we all know the answer to this. If Jon is in charge it will not meet Kate's expectations.

They have to air, those people donated those services and would be really upset (perhaps seek legal action) if the donated products were not shown. Can you imagine how much money the cabinet/appliance/kitchen specialists sunk into that kitchen?

Also they have to plug the whole vacation and everyone who donated like the hotel, the island, the ferry, the shops.... It's all about money.

Me too, I guess they saw what a bomb the last recap was (The First 10 Years) and decided not to go that route. I have to wonder how much these two episodes were re-edited because at the time the word wasn't out was it? I can't remember now.

That is what Kate said in People magazine. Jon still hasn't said who ended things or what transpired (or has he?).

I have no idea what it is like around me about dating and separation and divorce. I would say most people date very soon afterward.
My stated opinion is just how I feel about it personally--not what my *area* does.

I think separated and newly divorced people with children (esp.) should concentrate on finding themselves and taking care of their children before the dating begins. Anything else is selfish, in my book.
