Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 5

I watched the video, that Madge posted of Jon coming home in his sports car, I'm pretty sure it was when he was returning from the south of France.

I posted a video of Jon coming home? I don't remember that.

I think the distance does matter, especially once the kids get a little older. How will Jon attend soccer games, or school plays or take the kids to the dentist if he is in NYC all week? He is checking out of the kids' every day lives to become "Fun Weekend Daddy" and leaving Kate with the homework, packing of lunches and carting 8 kids to extra-curricular activities. The thing is, that in the end, the show aside, the kids will see which parent really did everything for her kids.

Umm...how do you know the extracurricular activities won't all be on Saturdays? Do they even do any besides violin? I just think it's waaaaaay too soon to decide how this will work out -- you already have his kids hating him when they get older. He just leased (not bought) the apt. 2 weeks ago -- what if he decided the NYC apt. wasn't working for him and then he moved closer? What if it was always a temporary thing for him -- you don't know because he's not giving interviews like Kate did with People.

Not that I'm on Jon's side -- I wouldn't take either side in this mess -- but I'm just getting tired of all of the assumptions, like these ones, that are being made on this thread. For somebody coming in at this point, they're going to think that Jon has publicly stated that he won't be attending any activities or dentists appt's -- which just isn't true.

The issue hits newsstands Friday but an advance copy says both Jon and Kate Gosselin partiially ignored their children at a Manhattan photo shoot last weekend and the kids were forced to work until 9 p.m. posing for pictures.

The cable network TLC organized the shoot, which also feature stars from The Little People, another reality show.

Eyewitnesses told Us Magazine the children were visibly upset at the photo shoot, and on the long drive from Reading, Pa., to New York, Kate left the kids in a luxury van at a rest stop while she ran into Starbucks.

Ok....define "partially ignored" for me. I happen to do this (by my definition) many times throughout the day. I cannot listen to whining and fighting all day long nor the constant chatter of either of my kids. Call me a bad mom if you must - but I don't give them 100% of my full attention all day long. I guess I don't see what the huge issue is with that part. Now, if they were obviously ignoring the kids and they were fighting or someone was going to be hurt, then that's another story. To me, it's ok to ignore some whinning and endless "why" questions that seem to come from my kids. I would think it even more so "easy" to ignore them if it's not "your" day with them or they're asking you things you honestly can't/don't want to answer. Jon was also out with Hailey before or after the photo shoot so I'm sure Jon coming in smelling like her didn't help matters at all (I can just imagine Jon coming in smelling like some prefume factory to either cover up the "girl" smell or lipstick on his collar or something.....just to get Kate).

"Working" also needs to be defined....I make my kids stand for countless pictures too and don't pay them a cent. Now, it's not every day but I also don't have an agreement with a tv company that they're allowed to tape or photograph my kids. I also don't know what time of the day they started "working". I think I read in an article here that they got to the studio at like 2 right? (I could be confusing that with something else) So that's 7 hours. Now honestly I can't see them taking pictures of those kids for 7 hours straight either. I'm sure the kids had some "down time". What that consisted of I'm not really sure....I do think the kids are all old enough to stand for a few photographs though without whining and fussing (not saying they didn't do this by any means) but more than an hour or so IMO would be a bit much (I'm thinking maybe a couple of family pictures, just the girls, just the twins, just the boys, ect during the hour).

And wouldn't it be easier to have Kate leave the kids in the car with the two helpers that were with her instead of hauling 8 kids into Starbucks? It seems like they all go enough that she'd know what they all wanted by this point. It never says she didn't get them anything - it just says she ran in.....and they must have fancy rest stops up there because I have yet to see one with a Starbucks in it!

Sorry for the nitpicking today....I guess I'm overly grouchy or something! I truly hope the kids wound up having a good time and that it was nothing more than "regular" kid temper tantrums.

But you have to admit, there is a difference between being away for work (book tour/signings) and living 2 1/2 hours away, out of state, because you choose to.

I understand that Jon will be at the house during his time with the kids and they will take turns. I guess I just don't understand why a parent would not want to be close enough to attend games/events or even practices if you were needed. Maybe with nanies and such you don't ever need help I guess I just think that with 8 kids both parents might be needed.

I've seen in several articles (no doubt coming from the same singular source) that TLC had a hand in Jon's apartment... that they plan on filming episodes in NYC. Maybe, just maybe .. Jon didn't have a choice, contractually or financially, in where he was moving?

It doesn't make sense to me that he would be so far, knowing he's back in PA every few days .. and for all the other reasons everyone is saying. And if TLC does have a hand in this? Shame on them.

I agree that it's way too early to determine how it's all going to play out. The judge could totally say their agreement is dumb and that's not how it's gonna be....too many unknowns as it seems is common with this family. I'm guessing though that if the newest girlfriend moved to the area that this isn't "temporary" for him. The apartment maybe, but the life style, I personally don't think so.

There are lots of assumptions everywhere right now - both in articles, news reports and here. It seems that's all anyone's got right now simply because of the lack of information being leaked or released right now. Part of me is so very proud of them for keeping quiet and not giving interviews (despite not being allowed to talk about the other) and then there's part of me who would love to see them sit down and give "their" side - without talking about the other and violating their agreement. I'm sure many things will come out in time...

you raise some very good points .. and I agree with a lot of them. I'd say that the article is probably only partially accurate, at best. But I just think back to the scene leading up to the shoot, the chaos there was .. and how frightened the children must have been. Then they had to deal with the tension between their parents .. and taking pictures under hot lights (off and on) all day? I have a hard time imagining it was a very fun day for the children.

Star magazine reports of when Kate first saw pictures of Jon and his new gal pal together, she screamed, "You make me sick!"

"Kate has no respect for her," a TLC network insider said. "And that's putting it mildly."

And it seems Glassman is not a fan of Kate's either.

Jon's new girlfriend has reportedly been after Gosselin for three years, since her plastic surgeon father performed Kate's tummy tuck in 2006.

"She feels that no one deserves what Jon had to put up with, being married to Kate. In fact, she can't wait to confront Kate and tell her, ‘Jon never loved you!' That's how much animosity there is," said a friend of Glassman.

In the meantime Glassman is just happy — and surprised — to be with Gosselin.

Good post! I was thinking the same things. I can't tell you the number of times a day I give the "right" answer to one the kids 15 million questions and thirty seconds later I can't even remember what they asked.

I'm also not buying the poor kids are working. The kids, especially Maddy and Cara, are old enough to understand that if they weren't on TV they wouldn't get to do as much stuff. My 6-year old wants to know why we can't be on TV. I didn't think the TLC thing was that bad for the kids, now the media circus that Jon's behavior has brought on is another thing.

Kate should try to break the Starbuck's addiction. I think she is using it was food replacement. On second thought, maybe I should try it.

I know I'm being picky today but really.....if you're on the cover of every magazine in the world - yeah people are going to know who you are! Stay home or be known for doing "good" things like your volunteer work or something like that instead of dating kids almost young enough to be your daughter.

"We get a lot of traffic because of the popularity of our website and since we put the Jon and Kate dolls up, the site's been doing fantastic,” a spokesperson for the site told RadarOnline.com exclusively. Having been on the site for less than a month, the raility tvb dolls are already the third most viewed.

“They’re selling unbelievably well,” the spokesperson added.

Jon’s doll wears a black t-shirt saying “Living The Nightmare” while Kate’s version has a white t-shirt with the words “Living The Dream.” As for why they chose Jon and Kate, the answer is obvious. “Come on! Why do you think? You’d have to be dead to not know who Jon and Kate are.”
