Hailey Glassman Gushes over Jon Gosselin

Hailey Glassman's romance with Jon Gosselin came as a surprise – even to her, she tells PEOPLE.

"If you had told me a few months ago, I wouldn't have believed you," Glassman says of dating the 32-year-old newly single dad of eight kids.

Glassman, 22, says she developed feelings for Gosselin – a longtime family friend who recently split from his wife Kate after a decade of marriage – while he was nursing his broken heart at her parents' New York City home in May. "He was so strong," Glassman says. "I admired him."

She refutes rumors that she's engaged to Gosselin, but admits she's having a great time with her new beau, who recently rented his own bachelor pad in Manhattan. "We're always laughing and joking," gushes Glassman, 22. "We watch movies, play pool and ping pong. We laugh a lot because I beat him at everything."

She adds, "He's a great cook. He cooks roasted veggies with special seasoning and sauces, and he grills pineapple with a butter concoction."

Another perk to dating Gosselin? Her parents approve of the match. "They love him," says Glassman. "They think of him as part of the family. They think things happen for a reason." That acceptance is crucial to Glassman. "The most important thing is if someone fits in with my family ... This is perfect. It just fits."

And what does she think Gosselin likes most about her? "I'm a huge believer in not controlling someone," says Glassman. "I'll give my opinion but tell him to do what he wants to do. He said, 'I'm just not used to having an option.' I told him life is about options."

New relationships are always fun....at least in my experience. And it was bad taste for her to say anything about "not controlling" Jon. That was a stab at Kate if I ever saw one. That is the mother of his children.

This won't last and if it does I'll be suprised. I dont know why people are making a big deal out of it. This won't be the last chick he'll be with. Make a big deal when he marries someone. And I surely hope it's not this one.

Alright! I managed to get through about 50 pages today! But - I'm all caught up for the moment.

I have oh so many comments but really can't remember everything and there was no way I could quote everyone!

The belly pics of Jon - yucky is all I have to say. I'm not cute or skinny or anything which is exactly why I don't lift up any of my clothing in public!

The pics of Jon and Hailey - super yucky! She just looks rough to me. She has that "look" of someone who's used drugs in the past - not someone I would want around my kids at all. I hope there's something in the custody agreements that neither of them can have their "friends" around the kids if they have a background like that.

The engagement - seriously?? Maybe Jon bought her a fancy little skull ring but as an engagement ring? So crazy!

Hailey's article with People - what a dope. I can't imagine her parents are ok with the world finding out her past or seeing her date someone so much older (I know age shouldn't matter but 22 and 32 are very different IMHO). I wonder what this is doing for daddy's business????? Wonder if the mom and Kate are still having the girl's weekends???

Kate with the new boy - he's way to young for Kate IMO....maybe one of Jon's friends picking up some of his stuff?? Who knows really.

It seems like all of them are glued to cell phones - every picture everyone (including friends) has their phone in their hand. Now, I'm "on call" pretty much 24/7 and don't manage to carry my phone around like that!

For someone like Jon who just wanted to be "Jon", he's certainly showing us who that is! How terrible for his kids to hear about or see - both not and in the future! Things like that will never go away. I wonder how many "unathorized" autobiographies are in the works on both Jon and Kate.

I'm surprised we haven't heard/seen Kevin and Jodi in the divorce mess. They were all over before but where are they now? Has Jon quit talking with them and they have no new "news"? Something was so fishy about that!

Oh I know there's just so much more but my little brain just can't remember it all!

OK I am completely confused... I have been camping since Friday with no TV! What is the shoving pushing incident? UPDATE ME SOMEONE!!!

Last night's EXTRA had a video clip showing the Gosselins (Kate and the kiddos) arriving at TLC headquarters in NYC for a photo shoot. It was BEDLAM as their Van pulled up in front of TLC. There was security, bodyguards and paps RAMPANT. Kate looked very upset, the kiddos looked very upset....just was crazy.

Shouldn't Jon be playing pong pong with his kids???

Well Hailey's still a kid...kinda, well acts like one anyway.

I just don't get the whole "as soon as I don't want to be married it means I can date because I'm soon to be divorced" thing. I don't care if they are separated or not separated. They are either married or divorced. They have 8 kids for pete's sake. He is SUCH a tool!

As far as Hailey goes, my best comment for her is she's obviously been rode hard and put up wet. If you get it, good. If you don't, that's good, too.

why would the state step in? I'm not familiar with Pennsylvania laws at all.

I was thinking along the lines of child support, visitation (okay that would be agreed upon), and possibly other responsibilities if Kate has to force the issue. If they were supposed to be sharing custody, it doesn't look like much sharing is going on. Just my 2 cents.

Just taking it all in and posting to say that I am not sure why it was ever assumed PEOPLE magazine was "Kate's voice"? That has been said here a lot. Why is that?
PEOPLE wants to sell magazines and while they don't seem as trashy as USWeekly, they aren't much better. Kate got her story out through PEOPLE after she filed for divorce and Jon was playing around but PEOPLE doesn't care where they get a good juicy story from. They are as greedy as the next magazine or rag mag.

MO, is Jon is a jerk. He seemed to *need* kate to keep him from looking like a jerk. Ever since he made this choice to dump her for other girls, he's looked worse and worse to the world. Hailey and her parents are quite trashy too, IMO. Who would be thrilled about this? Maybe they think Jon will calm their daughter down since she is such a wild child. However, the Jon they knew was the nice christian guy married to Kate, who kept him under her thumb to keep him line. I don't think they know the real Jon. I'm not sure Jon knows the real jon. He's searching hard though--I hope he finds himself soon--the father of 8 little children who need a grown up and mature dad in their life.

In in the beginning, it was People that was getting the interviews, and they were only getting interviews with Kate. That one reporter/editor did the morning show circuit, giving interviews about Kate, as well.

I haven't seen any indication that Jon has shirked his time with the children. He has his days at the house and she has hers. I'm sure if he stops showing up at the house, we'll hear about it. LOLOL.

Her comments were ridiculous. I'm sure she'd get controlling real quick if she was the one with the 8 kids. "I give Jon options." Is she serious? Please. Your options quickly diminish when you have children, one or eight. What kind of "options" should Kate have given him? Feed the kids or let them starve? No, he said he wasn't allowed to cook -- only allowed to reheat food that Kate had cooked. It was an issue with him obviously.

In general, I would say if one spouse says the marriage is over the other spouse is free to date immediately.

I wouldn't say any different wrt Jon Gosselin, if it is true that it was Kate's decision -- and if they have really been separated for a year, I would say they had even more right to walk away. I'm just trying to put aside the facts that I think he should be more discreet and that I don't like his choice in girlfriends. And although I'm not convinced that Kate was the one who chose to split up (since we only have tabloid stories to go on) there is no other version out there.
