Jay and Tracie's Wishes Wedding PJ 01/06/12...3-12..TR, Disney Day 2, pt 2

I know it is so hard to cut things that you want, but it seems like you have to... so here are my thoughts on what I would do. I know that you may have different options so make of it what you will!

Would the mothers and grandmothers, fathers and grandfathers be offended if they didn't have any sorts of flowers? We didn't do anything for them and no one had a problem with it, your family might be different though.
I also don't know about the details about what you're allowed to bring in to the wedding pavilion and what you have to use of Disney's, but would you be able to provide your own aisle runner? I've seen some really nice ones for a lot less than that.
Perhaps see if the bridesmaid bouquets can be a little smaller than the MOH's? How big are the bouquets?
Maybe if you really like everything you have you could just cut parts of each one? Like, keep the ceremony decor but cut the swag? And then

It doesn't help that Disney way over charges for stuff :( I had a rose bouquet here in NY at a florist that is definitely not cheap, but it was about half the price of what you're paying. Good luck! I know it's really difficult.

Hey Jay,

So here's my two cents....a lot of that stuff you can order from an outside vendor....I know there's tons of places that do even better aisle runners for cheaper and also, have you considered fake floral. My personal floral is made of real-touch flowers and they look incredible for a fraction of the cost! Since you are using the WP it shouldn't be a problem to bring in your own stuff. All you need is someone to set it up for you...because I don't think Disney will do that. Unless you really want to use Disney and/or you feel it's cutting it too close...I think it's definately something to look into! :thumbsup2 Goodluck!

Ok so here are some thoughts for you. I made my bouquet a bridesmaid size that cut the price from $250 to 175. I then asked her to make the bridesmaid bouquets a little smaller so there's went from $115 to 75. My florist assured me they will still look great! If I were you I'd cut the aisle runner. I went to michaels and got a really pretty one of $20. I had a 40% off coupon!! I believe you can get the rose petals on the aisle down to $200 and it still looks good. My florist sent me a picture. Another thing I would think about is the napkins. I know they look nice when the table is set but once people sit down they are going to move them and have them put on their laps. We were going to do these too but then decided the table cloth colors would be enough. We are now just going with the standard white at no charge. I know its hard to give up but out of everything on the list that is probably one of the easiest, people will just be getting food on them! Good luck :)

I agree about the aisle runner. I would not go with Disney. It's one of the few things that I used an outside vendor for. My aisle runner had "happily ever after" and our date on it and was only $250 including shipping so I'm sure if you just wanted a plain white one, you would be able to find it much cheaper

Thank you all for you great tips and suggestions!!!!! Its great to know that you can always count on people on the boards to help out with stuff. so YAY to all of you....you all get......DANCING BANANAS!!!!!:banana::banana:

So We looked at all of your suggestions and sat down and talked for a while. Now we still have tons of time to decide on things, but we want to try and get this down now cause once October/November hits, its gonna be hectic for trace at her internship so this will put some of it to ease if we can get a majority of it done now. So heres what we have talked about so far.

INITAL BEO CUTS (as of 9/21/11):
1. Flutter Fetti Confetti Cannon
2. (10 bottles) Sparkling wine/champagne toast
3. Nine hour motor coach

For the floral BEO we might be cutting the grandparents floral, though its not that expensive. It mainly depends on if we can find floral at a cheaper price then what we ordered. We ordered a flower called stephanotis that just looks amazing as an accent flower. We didnt get a definate price, but we think its about 9 bucks a flower. And its in each flower in the bridal party. So we might just keep it in Trace and I's floral.

We talked about what would have the most impact on us and we thought that having floral/decor at the ceremony would be more important then at the reception. They have us set up for 12 pew markers at every other pew. We are looking to cut that down to 6 or 8 to bring down that cost. Its likely that we will keep the runner, pew markers, and floor petals. I tried looking at some outside vendors for the aisle runner and i could only find a couple in the orlando area. artisticaislerunners.com wanted to charge $520 for a WP runner with monogram and all that stuff. Id rather go with the 250 plain one that dis is doing unless anyone knows of another company?

We might do fake floral for the petals on the floor, as they will just be sitting there, and most people probably wont notice that there fake. Just waiting on a price for it.

Asked if we could use the existing chairs that are on the 2nd and 3rd floors of ADH instead of the dance floor chairs(the ones with the red and black backing). The existing chairs are just solid wood backing and we wouldnt need the chair covers for them. If we are doing chair covers, we might use solid teal sashes to match the table cloths that we might change. Now we have this teal/purple metallic table cloth and chair sash thats costing $234 for the table cloths and $425 for the chair covers. Soooo..lets see if changing the texture changes the price.

Reply cards are due in about 2 weeks and we are awaiting about 18 cards to come back. Count is up to 72:scared1:Our BEO was planned for 70...which was supposed to be pushing it...lol. I think of the 18 remaining cards most of them will be nos so lets pleassseee count on that....

Think thats it for now...

Its raining here today, but its supposed to sun up tomorrow which prompts me to start singing...Therse a great big beautiful tomorrow....

Are you looking for just a plain aisle runner? If so they sell them at the craft stores - check out AC Moore, Michael's, and Jo Ann's, they have some really nice plain white ones, or ones with flowers outlined. They are usually $30-40 but those stores always have 40% or 50% off coupons. I actually bought my aisle runner at Walmart! It was $20 and I painted words on it since that's what I wanted, but you could just leave it plain too and it would look nice. Here's a pic of it:

Here is ours. We got it from Bella Events for $251 including shipping. They shipped it in a box. I just gave that box to my wedding planner with my tubs of goodies and they had it out for me!

I got it from Event Bella

I would cut the swags and cut the hidden Mickeys from the bridal party and family floral.

Look on Etsy or Ebay for an aisle runner, Disney will put it out for you for $25, sometimes they don't charge for this. You can get a plain white one pretty cheap, or have a personalized one that is about the same price as Disney's, but your planner will cut it for you after the ceremony and you can have it as a wall hanging or get someone to make it into a quilt. My initial idea was to have it at the reception for everyone to sign instead of a guestbook, but I forgot about it.

I went to publix and spent about $200 on roses and it was more than enough for a pretty heavy covering down the aisle and for 28 guests to toss.

For your buffet, I would make one custom. Search the boards for others' menus, many include pics and pricing. You can just google disboards weddings: menus or disboards weddings: aisle runners.

so i forgot to post that we have 100 days till our wedding!!!:banana:
we have a conference call with Meri and Cindy tomorrow to talk about updated BEO stuff and construction changes.

WOW! Already?! :woohoo: Congrats--from here on out the days disappear faster!

oh I know..
Only 100, wow! Congrats, they will fly by!

yup I cant believe its October already!!!
Happy 98 Days!!!!! :D

..lol...more like 96 now..lol

Not much goin on here...first week in October and its in the 50s in DC/NVA..which is great...Being a floridian my entire life..I cant say enough how much i love winter now. All I haope is that it dosent blizzard out at all this year, cause my car is now parked outside, and I dont want to be digging it out all the time.

I sent in my half of our min deposit payment today!!...its due on the 8th, Im sure trace will get hers in tomorrow or wednesday. so thats really all thats goin on.

Im going to be designing our programs soon, and i made a special gift for trace...its her wedding dress hanger..ill post pictures later.

Some good and sad news to share.

first up the good I guess......due to the construction now taking place in january at the WP, trace and I will be moving some things around. ceremony will now be at 5pm on the 6th..and the reception will now be in the Promenade ballroom at the BW conference center. Before everyone jumps on the chance to complain or w/e....let me tell you that personally I think the way DFTW handeled the situation...for us....was amazing. Meri and Cindy were great to talk on the phone, and they gave us many options and didnt pressure us at all to make a decision at that time. They made sure that our wedding day would still be just as magical and special to us as if we werent switching. Frankly, as long as were in the WP im not complaining because that is where we want to be, and our guests will love it. Some of you might be saying..well how is that good news????....well its good news to us cause it allows us so many new options for our decor and we can actually have the reception we initially visioned before we knew that certain things werent allowed in ADH.

well i guess onto the sad news. about an hour before we were suppoosed to have our phone cenference to talk about the above information, trace was talking with her mom and her mom informed her that our cat..Luna..had been missing for about a week. :sad1::sad1:They had gone around to the neighbors and asked, put up flyers around and visited area shelters and vet offices. She has a chip in her, but for a week she had not been seen. Its been a couple of days since then and no new info. Trace and I have both lost family pets before, but Luna was our cat that we bought together. We couldnt bring her up to DC cause she was too attached to the other cats at her moms house, and the apartments that we are living at dont allow pets. Im not giving up at all, but it sucks just not knowing where she is, and being so far away that we really cant do anything. Trace was just devastated after the call from her mom, and it really didnt hit me till the next morning. I just hope shes ok....shes our Ms. Buna..as i call her

....everybody wants to be a cat.....

First of all, I'm glad that you've been able to deal so positively with the construction issue! It makes me happy to know that you aren't upset about it! But I'm so sorry about your cat. I really hope she turns up soon, I know how special pets like that are. She looks like such a sweet cat, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Well, I'm glad you were able to reach a decision that works for you! And the Boardwalk ballrooms are absolutely lovely anyway.

I'm sorry about your cat. I'll keep my fingers crossed. :grouphug:

GLad to hear that your wedding planner handled the construction in a good manner. It will be cool to have it getting dark at your ceremony! I can't wait to hear what you will be doing with the ballroom now that you can bring in your own stuff.

Sorry to hear about your cat! Don't lose hope I'm sure she will turn up.

We have 3 Months till our wedding. Almost 2 months till we will be in Fl. Trace got some good news that her dress..whatever it is...should be in by the end of october..shell be goin down for a weekend in Nov for a fitting.

Made our min exp. payments this week.:banana:

Our guest count is up to 78..ahhhh....we really thought 70 would be a high number..oh well..theres still time for people to drop..lol...no it should be great. One thing we find funny is that we plan on going to MK the morning after...and everyone wants to join us.....were gonna walk up to a ride...thell ask us how many is in our party...and were gonna say like 50 people....

As for our BEO's, its looking like now that we have moved locations and our decor will be completely different, we want to spend money where we will be for more time. So well prolly cut most if not all of the ceremony decor. Maybe provide our own aisle runner, but that may be it.

Still no word on Luna..:sad1:

keeping our hopes up, but its been about 2 weeks now

Mom and dad are at Food and Wine this weekend...she texted me at work and said they were having 16th anniversery beer and some king of crab/lobster thing....i texted back that i had a ham and cheese sandwhich and a coke zero...

thats it for now....

I dont think I posted this yet, but I created Times guides to give to our guests in the welcome bags.

Pretty close huh?

We made 2 of them cause teal and purple are our wedding colors

The purple one is for our guests not in the wedding party and contains info for the ceremony, reception, times we are doing things together and park/dtd/other entertainment hours. It also has info on fastpass and photopass since some this will be some of our guests 1st visit to the world.

The teal one is for the wedding party and has most of the same info plus rehearsal times and pictue times. They will be printed on both sides so it will resemble the actual times guide.

Amazing! You'll be getting married 3 days after me almost to the hour. We moved out ceremony time from 10am to 7:30pm.

I'm glad you like Meri. I did not have a good vibe/experience with her so I requested someone else. So glad she's working out for you.

So hard to believe how close we are.

Ya it really was an easy transition. I guess either they got all the kinks out before they got to us, or Trace and I are a lot easier to deal with. I dont know. But we are very happy with whats going on. Still no word on Luna, thanks for your thoughts. She is a face cat so whenever you are around and shes on your lap all she wants to do is come right up to your face and just love on ya.

The ballrooms are great. My parents were there this weekend and took some video for us. Plus we had our menu tasting in the st. james room when we had our PS so we kinda have seen it already, we just didnt know it at the time..lol:cool1:

Ya Im a little concerned about night pictures just cause i think the flash makes it a little to bright, but im sure the Arndts will make sure our pictures will turn out great. I totally forgot you can bring in stuff in ballrooms.:scared1:although I think were set on the stuff we have. were still a little over budget so were trying to cut things rather than add...lol..Its mostly cause were up to 80 people now which is crazy thinking that originally we thought max would be 50..then 70.

YAY:banana::banana: We moved ours from 2:30 to 5. Im sorry that you and Meri had a fall out. We really clicked with her at our PS and had a great time. Its true that sometimes she does have a lot of stuff goin on and you dont get your emails back for a couple of days, so I get your concern there. I know its close..well be in FL on Dec 19th so its even closer for us, cause thats really when the party/making all the DIY stuff really starts for us.

Those Times Guides are awesome! What a great idea! :goodvibes

Thanks! I Know I've seen other people on here use them and couldnt get their templates so I tried my own and Im really happy with how they came out. They took me forever. I posted pictures of the wrong ones though cause I made others with the times changed and stuff for our new time. I deleted the other ones so I dont get confused...lol

I live roughly 30 to 45 minutes from the World so I'm over there constantly. In fact I was just there walking dtd on Tuesday, and was park hopping the previous Friday.

Perhaps when y'all come down we can meet. I'm not sure of an exact date my soldier gets home from deployment, but since we live here we'll be available almost any time.

If you'd like we can meet on the 4th or 5th and we can give you any pointers we learn from our experience on the 3rd. :D We'll be leaving for our disney cruise honeymoon either the 6th or 7th.

I too have started to get the DIY stuff together so that in December I can really get down to the nitty gritty

I love you times guides, they are awesome! I wish I was a little more creative with mine. I am just finishing up our welcome newsletter and time information for our guests! It's crazy how many little things there left to do at the end.
