Very excited to hear about the planning session!
Glad to hear you've had a great time with the moms and Tracie! :thumbsup2
Thanks...we had a blast...our moms now have some inside jokes and were laughing so much and trace and I just looked at them so confused:confused3

So we are at the airport now getting ready to head back up to the dc area. I was told that our apartment community didn't have any damage or power outages over the weekend so everything should be fine when we get back home. I have a lot of pictures to post including all star sports, dtd, menu tasting, the chefs, wedding pavilion, construction pictures and a lot more.
Hopefully I'll have some up tonight...well see...

I'll be thinking of Deltas Dreamflight while flying US Airways....

We are home back in VA and glad to say that we had no damage to our apt and car during Irene!!!:banana:

SOOOO..we had a great time down in FL for our planning session and withought further ado?..adu?..adeau? W/E...I present our trip report

Driver...to the Forum!!!!!!!

We left DC about 3:45 on Thursday headin towards Orlando. I had to wait for Trace to get out from an intern meeting at GW, so I just kinda chilled out at the airport. Once she got there we got our tix and we were through security in no time. Did a body scanner...I still dont know what the big deal of those things are....but trace had some glycerin soaps we got for our moms and security had to check them up cause they where rapped up. B T Dubs...we only took carry-on bags which was a huge advantage on not having to wait at baggage claim forever. Plane was on time...only thing is that we spent like 20 min on the tarmac waiting for other planes to go..so we really didnt take off till like 4:15.

Got into Orlando fine...only thing was that Deltas terminal was the last one and we were driving the plane around FOREVER!!!....Love the little monorail thing that takes you to the main building though. Of course we had to stop by the disney store which was so cleaverly named..I also tried to do some pre-disney vinyl trading....:thumbsup2

Since Trace and I are/were native Flaridians we always drove up to the world so this was also our first time on Magical Express. Very convienant service and I loved watching some old school cartoons except 2 things....
1. they had Tracies name spelt wrong so it took them forever to find our reservation and
2. I guess they have to fill up a bus before heading out, but we waited like 25 min before departing the airport.

Magical Express dropped us off at ***....lol....All Star Sports and we told the cm that we were there for our planning session and she gave us some celebrating buttons and wrote planning session on them, which I thought was cool. Then I found out we were staying in Homerun Hotel..which Ive never stayed in...as a matter of fact its prolly been like 10 yrs since Ive even stayed at sports....:scared1: We walked to the room...they are refurbing the middle of the football part, so you have to walk around it.
We ate at the food court and noticed that they changed the drink bar. they now put sensors on the bottom of the cups and you are only allowed 3 refills in an hours time. If you buy one of the collectable cups, the sensor is activated until your last day that you are staying.
Heres what they look like.

Anyone know if this is set-up at any other resorts?

We then spent some time at dtd...got our stickers for our favors...bought some vinyls..traded some vinyls...and headed back to sports. Ill leave off with some more pictures.

PS day TR with our moms next!!!!:banana:

Making memories, making memories, taking pictures is making memories....

Looks like a fun first day! I had heard about that soda machine thing. It seems so ridiculous to me - is stealing extra soda that big of a problem for Disney that they had to go to these measures? Haha it just seems to excessive.

back later with PS day 2 post!!!!

Im super excited because college football is back on my tv!!!!!

PS Day 2

So I woke up at about 8am on friday. The plan was to meet our moms at DTD around 11-12 and then drive to Francks for the planning session. I offered to go to the food court to get Trace some coffee..cause she cant live without it, even though i find it to be a meh drink....on the way I walked around the football buildings to take some pictures.
Heres my FAU Owls...though I think its really supposed to be Temple
IMG_8154.jpg

and the FSU NOLES!!! with the T VOLS for trace
IMG_8153.jpg

And the Syracuse Orange(men) for my dad
IMG_8155.jpg

I tried looking for USC for my sister but I didnt see any..sooooo
Once we were ready to leave the resort we put our luggage in storage and boarded a very very full bus to Typhoon Lagoon/DTD....one thing I hat bout the all stars...and why we didnt pick them for our room block...is that they are so far away from everything and they must stop at each resort so it takes so long to get where you want....By the time we got to pleasure island we were the only 2 people still on the bus. We walked over to D street and continued to trade/buy vinyls. Managed to pick up the new cars 2 set/pirates w/chaser/ and various other trades. Were 3 away from completeing Urban 7 now as well. Trace also loves the Good/Bad luck jrs and might also be using them in the wedding.

Our moms got to DTD around 12:15 and we met them at Earls for some quick lunch...althought it might have been better to just snack..explain later...
The Celebrating nuttons we got!

Cutest girl ever!!!
IMG_8158.jpg

Us at the Francks door....this was actually taken when we left, but Ill put it here...lol:thumbsup2
IMG_8179.jpg

Walking inside..we found Meri our planner waiting for us and she was great. I never actually talked to her in person before that day so it was nice to put a person and a voice with the email writing. We had our session in the Flora room...Trace loves Sleeping Beauty so anything relating to that is great....Our Floral Coordinator Heather?..lol...i dont remember her name..she was great though....joined us for the first hour and we started to discuss all of that stuff. I was kicked out for like 15 min while they discussed Traces dress and her bouquet and such and while I was outside I went and took some pictures of the construction.
This was standing by the door to Francks
IMG_8163.jpg

This was more towards the parking lot
IMG_8162.jpg

I also walked down towards the bridge to the pavillion and Ill tell you that the walls..at that point..were at the top of the beach about 50-75 feet from the water.

More of day 2 later...

:banana::banana: I just love the dancing bananas!!!!!

PS day 2 pt 2

The rest of the floral discussion was really fun. I didnt know I would have so much fun picking out flowers...lol. Our floral consultant was Heather and she was great.

This is what we decided on initially....we havent gotten the intial BEO yet so hopefully we wont have to cut...much

Brides bouquet- N/A
Bridesmaids bouquet-purple hydrangea with white roses and stephanotis(we had fun with that flower..lol) Also will have hidden mickey and purple wrapping with a vinyl jr tucked in
Grooms boutonniere-main flower matches brides bouquet, with white stephanotis in front and hidden mickey.
Groomsman boutonnieres- one white rose, with purple wrapping and a hidden mickey
Fathers/Grandfathers/Ushers-single white rose with floral tape
Mothers-Corsages with ribbon matching dress

Ceremony: plain white aisle runner, with pink and white rose petals on the side. Pew markers have matching floral similar to bridesmaids bouquets. Pew markers have fabric swags from each pew. Thought about a chuppah, but decided that it wasnt neccessary.

Staged exit is going to be petals thrown in sheet music holders(our tie in that were both musicians) similar to this
rph.jpg

Reception: Translucent/metallic teal/purple tablecloth, with black satin napikins with pink holders. Centerpieces will be white roses in medium size holders with teal/purple/pink water beads and LED lights. Votive candle holders will also be placed on the tables. The long bridal party table will have two vinyls dressed as bride and groom placed in the middle with floral running down the sides of the table. We will also be re-using the pew marker flowers on this table as well.

Like we said..this is all initial..so hopefully not a lot will have to be cut.....

So after Heather was done with the floral stuff it was time for MENU TASTING!!!...bring on the bananas!!!!:banana::banana:

We got in Meri's NASCAR...lol that will always be an inside joke with us now and took a wild ride over to the boardwalk convention center...which Ive never been in in like 50 stays there...and we had to take the usual sign picture with our moms

IMG_8176.jpg

We then met up with the chefs...Barney,Charles...and the server..Glenn I think...and we had a great time.

I just have to say that I totally was not expecting what they gave us. Every plate was a full plate of food and the set-up was great. We had selected 5 cocktail hour options and 3 entree options to taste.

First up was the coconut shrimp with orange Horse Radish Marmalade and Spanakopitas with Artichoke Tomato Tapenade. The coconut shrimp was amazing and the marmalade made it even better. I think I had like 10 of them cause everyone kept giving theirs to me...I didnt try the Spanakopitas, but they said it was good
IMG_8168.jpg

Next was the Bacon and blue cheese beef w/balsamic sun-dried tomato pesto, Artichoke and goat cheese bruschetta, and Bacon Wrapped Scallops with a Thai Sweet Chili Sugar Glaze. The scallops were good, but nothing special to me. I didnt try the artichoke bruschetta, but Trace said she liked it. The beef was fantastic though. I didnt know about it when I first saw it, but it tasted great and the pesto sauce added great flavors to it.
IMG_8169.jpg

The first entree that we had picked was the Pan seared Mahi Mahi with creamed spinach and Applewood Bacon. THIS WAS THE BEST THING I TASTED. I dont like vegetables, especially spinach, but the creamed sauce that came with the fish was amazing. They paired it with a risotto that was great as well. I only hope that at the reception it tastes just like it did on that day cause if it doesnt I will be upset...
IMG_8170.jpg

Next was Francaise Style Boneless chicken Breast sautéed in egg batter...and let me say that it sounds better than it is. It was ok, Im glad that we changed it our for another chicken dish though. I forgot to take a picture of it, but thats ok.

Last was the Three Peppercorn and Whole Grain Mustard Rubbed Beef Strip Loin. This was great as well and Im glad we ended with this and not the chicken...lol. Both sauces were very tasy.
IMG_8171.jpg

Before we left we had to take a picture with our chefs. Our moms switched sides for the picture.
IMG_8174.jpg

Wow long post....be back with part 3 later...

Thanks, welcome aboard..hope you enjoy the rest

I just wanted to update that we have 4 months untill our wedding!!!!

Bring on the bananas!!!!!!
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Chef Charles! He's the man! I <3 him. :D

Ya, he was great...I hope hes with us on the 6th.

So lets see whered I leave off...oh ya the menu tasting....

OK so we left the Boardwalk convention and got back in the NASCAR..lol...to Francks studio to talk about the rest of the wedding events. I cant really say what we talked about...mostly cause it went by so fast and I cant really remember. I think it was like ceremony order, reception order, decor and stuff.
We talked about transportation..which we are still very undecided about. Most of our guests will be driving up from Palm Beach, so they will have cars to get them to the wedding pavillion and to Boardwalk for the reception. We are still waiting on some reply card to come back, so that is whats throwing us off about transportation. We will probably be having about 10-15 guests staying on property that are flying into Orlando and using Magical Express, so the transportation will be primarily for them, and for the bridal party.

Next up was stuff about ADH. We talked about table placement and where the card tables are going and such. I was reading another post in the main forum about chairs, and someone suggested using the decorative chairs only on the dance floor and using the exhisting chairs at ADH for the tables on the other level. I thought that was great as it would help us save some money...every little bit helps...

Im trying to think of other stuff we talked about...now i realized i should have written most of it down. lol...

well I do remember CAKE!!!!!!!!:banana::banana:
Trace and her mom discussing something....
IMG_8177.jpg

IMG_8178.jpg

They brought in the tray and after having been completely full from the menu tasting hours before we were ready for the fun part. The cake flavors were, vanilla, chocolate, marble, and almond. The flavoring were buttercream, amaretto, dark chocolate, white choc, baileys, rasberry, banana?, and one more. I dug right in....lol...and right away closed the lid on rasberry, dark chocolate, baileys, and bananas. After a while it was between marble or vanilla cake with either buttercream, white choc, or amaretto filling.
So this is how we decided....Trace covered her ears and I picked which one I like best. Then it was my turn.....aaaaand..we ended up picking the same thing!!!!:thumbsup2Marble cake with buttercream filling....YAY

and with that our PS was done. We were there from 1 to about 6:30...and like I said, it is a blur now.

There was a rehearsal that was taking place in the wedding pavillion at 5 so they were all done by the time we were done, so we were able to go look at the new stuff at the wedding pavillion. My mom also had never seen the inside so it was a first for her as well.
My mom looking towards the castle
IMG_8181.jpg

I like this pose and hopefully next time we will be in wedding attire...yay
IMG_8182.jpg

My mom was really excited!!!!!
IMG_8183.jpg

Im sure everyone has seen these, but I loved the new windows
IMG_8184.jpg

Also with the construction going on, you wont see it as much from the pavillion.
IMG_8185.jpg

Finally we walked over to the GF to look at some stuff in the shop and on the way back I took this...reminds me of a hidden mickey...
IMG_8187.jpg

Well we are expecting our intial BEO tomorrow so ill be back then...

"Also be on the lookout for Thomsons Gazelle....oh here we call them Thomies..Thomies!!!!"

I just jumped over here after getting your comment on mine and I love what you are doing with your wedding. You guys are so adorable and I can't wait tor read more posts :)

Initial BEO is in and we are way over budget. :scared1::scared1:
Its mainly because we planned for 70 people and I think we may have more. Plus floral isnt on there so there is still so much to add...ugh...I was so happy to get it, and going through it got me so depressed

I was reading another post in the main forum about chairs, and someone suggested using the decorative chairs only on the dance floor and using the exhisting chairs at ADH for the tables on the other level. ^You are welcome. ;):thumbsup2:yay::laughing:

Looks like the end of the planning session went well!
Sorry about the BEO going over budget--If you need help cutting things, we're here for ya!

So I just got got caught up on your pj!!! Everything looks awesome. You have done an awesome job with it. Looks like you two had a great time at your planning session. I can't wait to read more. You guys are getting close. :cool1:

alright, so Its time to post our initial BEO. It has no floral or an estimate for the custom cake we want.

beo.png

beo2.jpg

Wow, that took me forever to figure out how to do that...lol
So our families gave us a $20,000 budget to go off of, and that included outside fees such as officiant, photographers, invites, etc. As you can see we are over:scared1::scared1:

Some things that I know we will cut is the confetti thing because I think we were just discussing it at the PS and left it on just to see, but Trace and I arent really thrilled with it so it can go.

Also prolly on the chopping block is the 9 hour motor coach. 75% of our guests will be driving up to disney and will have their own cars so we may be able to have people car pool to the ceremony/reception. It would be nice to be able to transport all the guests at once with the bus, but I think it is just too high a cost for that service that is ultimatley unneccessary.

Didnt know anything about the escorts, but after talkin about it, I think that would be nice for our guests so they know where to go once they get to the Boardwalk.

We also might consider the lower package of videography, but we like what comes with the one we chose. The lower one is just the one camera ceremony and doesnt have any of the entrances/exits or editing in case the construction noise gets too loud.

we might also cut the champagne toast bottles and just let everyone use whatever current bevereage they are holding for the toast(s).

The ADH marquee might go too.

The things that Trace and I really want to keep and will cut lst minute if we have to would be mickey and minnie and the cake. Trace really wants the stephanotus flowers too, but well have to see whats up with that when we get the floral BEO.

well thats it for now...let us know what ya think and if ya have any suggestions or anything.

It's 9-11 today(pancake day for us)...but just want to say that I was 15 when it happened, and will never forget that day.

I started working on our door hangers today while watching some of the games on tv. We are getting the mickey hole punch from target so that we will punch into the top of it so that it will be able to hang on the door. I dont know if it is big enough for it though. When it gets here ill make a prototype and try it out.
doorhanger.jpg

The one on the left side has the picture and text seperate. The colors on the bottom can stay or go. The one on the right side has everything together on one box. Tell me which one you guys like better...

Just read your whole PJ and I must say you guys are ADORABLE!!! You look like such a fun couple! everything looks great so far! It's nice to see a groom so involved with all of the planning! I love the favourite music CD...I might have to steal that idea! As for the door hangers....I like the second one best! Keep up the good work! Can't wait to hear more!

Aren't the BEO's so much fun lol! You guys are lucky you didn't get hit with the big fee on the DJ. Ours is 2800 because it is December and there is no way around that. We are doing the same with our coach. I think we are just going to do the minimum hours because of most of our guests are at the Boardwalk and with the ceremony ending at 8 we figure most people will go out afterwards anyway. I wanted to do the marquee on the ADH but again it is one of those things thats not necessary so maybe last minute we will add it in. You guys did good coming in around your budget!!!
