January no buy

1/1 0$
1/2 0$
1/3 $4 for lunch at office and 63 for groceries

I'm trying to figure out how much to eat at work, but I get so much food for $4 that I'm not really spending less to pack. What does everyone else pack for lunch?

I'm new here, but this seems like a good way for me to save up the extra $$ I need to justify getting Disneyland AP's for our family in March. My no spending goal is 10 days and my less than $10 spending goal is 10 days. I wish that under $10 goal could be eliminated, but for some reason my husband finds it necessary to go out to lunch way more often than I would like.

Progress so far.
1/10 no spending
1/10 less than $10

Jan 1 $0
Jan 2 $20 ($3 for husband's BP meds, 14 for groceries, and 3 for goggles so I can swim at the gym my husband's work gave us a membership to for Christmas)
Jan 3 $9 on DH lunch out.

Today is a $0 day. It snowed more last night and all day long so I stayed in. Tomorrow should be a $0 as well since it is just going to keep snowing.

12/30- $ 59.09 Aldi's, $17.98 GFS, $18.23 Giant Eagle, $10 GE Pharmacy, $19.87 Loco Leprechaun (dinner), and $10.71 BP (Gas)
12/31- $0
1/1- $0
1/2- $20.25 CVS, $9.34 Walgreen's, and $26.52 Marc's
1/3- $0

Went to turn on the gas fireplace last night since it was the coldest day of the winter so far for us and nothing..... No propane, which is not a tragedy because we do have central heat/air, but it definitely works better when it is really cold. So today, I went to fill up the propane heater, which is not really built into the budget because we only fill it once or twice a year and it is just a 100 lb tank. So, it was definitely not a no buy day for me.

No buys 2/10
Essentials only 1/18
Blow it days (when I buy stuff I shouldn't) 0/3

Can't live without my diet Dr. Pepper and there was a good sale. I grabbed a couple other things at the gas station when hubby was filling up. I brought my lunch to work today, which is a very big step for me. :-)

$900 budget... $841 left

Back to work today. Another No Buy day for me. But I have quite the commute, so I will be getting gas in the morning. I'm budgeting $140 a month for gas.

Target got me too. I am sorting the carnage now.

I was planning on a no buy day but Amazon's daily kindle deal was too good to pass up -- 99 cents for a book on overcoming procrastination!

So here we go:

1/3 $1

no buy days: 1/10
dinners out: 0/4
non consumables purchased: 1/0 (not counting a kindle book as I don't have to a find a place to keep it)

I'm being very tempted by the 20% coupon code I was sent by the Mailbox (teachers, you'll understand! :)) but I'm telling myself not to look as my classroom is just as cluttered as my house is.

I'm proud to say that today was a $0 day. Probably the first one I've had in YEARS. I'm not joking! So pleased with myself. Only 9 more to make my 10-$0 day goal this month! Baby steps!

Well, planned to stay home today, but ds came down with an earache, so off to urgent care we went. Needed antibiotic, so picked up a few groceries at Walmart while there. We really do need everything we bought, and we stayed way under what our usual Walmart trips cost. AND, we didn't even look at the Christmas clearance stuff!:cool1:

1-1 $0
1-2 $0
1-3 $27.49 groceries (all needed)

total $0 days = 2
total spent $27.49

Holy cow

Ok so Target was DDs reward for not driving me crazy the last two days of Christmas vacation lol

We ate out & got snacks $6.48

I got some biz stuff that doesn't count here (which is great, that would have added another $100 LOL)

My clothes - shoes that I may or may not keep. $21.89
4 sequin tank tops and a 2 pack of gloves for DD $34.39 (let's see if I can resist Belks big sale at the end of Jan)
some candy and random food items that were on sale: $6.72
mad money: an initial ornament for DD (dangit), an initial pin for dress up for DD, 2 rolls of birthday gift wrap and a $16 set of doug and melissa wooden food for $3.96! 75%! woot! total: $10.80

I made it through my first whole day without spending anything. I returned a few things to the mall and I got a few things for free using my $6 rewards :cool1:

I got some lunch meat to make sandwiches for this week. Alot of times I pack leftovers.

I'm trying to figure out how much to eat at work, but I get so much food for $4 that I'm not really spending less to pack. What does everyone else pack for lunch?

For today, I had leftovers. DH is taking tonight's leftovers tomorrow, so I've packed blueberry muffins. I spent a good chunk of my last vacation day baking, so I have several kinds of muffins in the freezer for lunches for me or my boys. (None of us are huge sandwich fans.) I have to admit, packing a lunch everyday is the thing I hate the most about my job! :) It's a good thing I can't leave school grounds for lunch or I'd eat out everyday!

I'm not committing to a whole no-buy month, but I had my first no-buy today. If you're 9 months pregnant like me, you really don't feel like going anywhere or doing anything--except napping!

Anyway, keep up the good work everyone. I'm sure I'll easily get some more before and after the baby comes... whenever that is. I was going to try for a full no-buy month, but then I thought I'd be too tired and having to pay our newly raised deductible kinda demotivated me. At least we got back the money my husband paid to be off an extra week in 2011. (Tried to talk the baby into coming on Dec. 31, but that would have been too early.)

Well, another (planned) shopping day...but tmrw is looking like a good day...

1/3: post gym lunch out with dh $18
Car wash (it looked like someone dumped mud all over my van...couldn't stand it) $3
Jeans ( this was a huge plus for me...I loathe jean shopping and found two great pairs...had a gift card that covered half!) $55
(was so happy about the jeans that I forgot about the makeup I needed...so that will be a future trip :(
SAMs club for gas and groceries, stuck to my list! $110

Not really planning on much for the next couple of days or so...stocked up on food and everything.:woohoo::goodvibes
