January 2011!!

We booked (5 of us) last week for 1/29 - 2/5 at POR. Free dining! We've made our ressies:

1/30 - Liberty Tree Tavern 6:30pm
1/31 - Tusker House 8:00am
2/1 - Le Cellier 6:20pm
2/2 - Hoop De Doo Review 5:00pm
2/3 - 1900 Park Fare 8:00am
2/4 - Coral Reef 6:50pm

I am starting to look at actual park strategies for those days now. My group is my sister, brother-in-law, DW, DD5 and myself.

This will be our first stay at POR (stayed at CSR last Feb.) and I'm a little worries about the bus situation and the double beds. DD always "ninjas" herself into our king bed at home so I don't know how the doubles will work even if we set up the trundle for her.

I have the countdown going at work (156 today!). I'm ready to go!

I pushed the button today, we are going 1/13-19, staying at Caribbean B.R. (not to be confused w/ Contemporary Resort). DH has his spring work calendar already filled up and I was getting depressed. Finally looked at something early in the year and these precious few days were open on his calendar. My kids are almost 10 and almost 7, I don't want to look back on these years and wish that we did more. Am I nuts? My DH wants to know where this line of thinking comes from. I think it's just being proactive. Because when they are in college, and all moved out, that's that. Any thoughts? Or am I just nuts? :rotfl:

Absolutely not! :thumbsup2 Take it from someone whose oldest started college this year and another two in high school (one of whom will be gone next year). If I had one wish in life, it would be to go back and do Disney one more time - with my kids young enough to enjoy it again rather than roll their eyes at me (I'd probably take when they were about 5-8 years old, but yours are close enough). Go and have a blast!!

We are there from Jan 27th-Feb 6th! Cannot wait...it's a month earlier than our last trip and we had mostly gorgeous weather, 2 or 3 days were 50's, but hoodies, jeans and teeshirts worked for us. Hopefully we have similar this trip. I admit I am nervous after reading all the freezing stories of last winter!

Just booked POP for January 13-18 & taking my sister. Her husband & kids don't know yet :ssst: . I'm picking up the hotel expenses, she's paying for the tips & drinks! We have awesome, early dinner ressies so we can walk off all the great food we're going to eat!

DH and I will be there 1/22-1/29. We will be staying at POFQ and we will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary.:cool1::hippie:

We would love to meet up with anybody who will be down there at that time.
:hippie:

We are going in January too! :)
We leave on December 30 so we can spend New Years Eve at Downtown Disney :) I can't wait! <3

Love to get in touch with you if you'd like! DH & I will be down there with our kids, but they'll be with their HS band staying offsite, so we'll only see them at the 3 o'clock parade and similar! We'll be at 23 years shortly after that so think we'll celebrate it while we're there (first time anywhere without the kids - at least part of the time - in ages!)!

We'll be at Pop from January 20-25th so some overlap! DH is also from upstate NY - he grew up in Oneonta and his parents still live there and his sister is in Rotterdam. Where do you live? Do you know your tentative park days/dining plans? Feel free to PM me! I'll be around the next couple days, but then we head out to Colorado for a week to visit my oldest son but should be home after that!

OK, so we're going with my parents and brother and his family. We will be there from a Friday to a Friday. Their flights leave to go home around noon, so I'm assuming they'll be catching ME by 9:00. My family's flights don't leave until 5:30, giving us some time to go to a park (which we are looking forward to since it will be the only time this trip for just our family of 4) and have a good meal--trying to decide if we should do a sit down breakfast (Crystal Palace at MK) or a sit down lunch or just do counter service. We likely won't have any meals left, for sure no TS, so we'd pay OOP (which is fine). If you were spending your last few hours at MK, would you give up park time to sit down and eat or would you do CS and get in as many things as you could? :confused3 Just wondering what your thoughts are!

We just booked from 1/11 to 1/18 at Pop Century with free dining, but upgraded it from QS to the regular dining plan. When we were there this February, DH and I really liked having a sit-down meal each day to relax. DS1 (age 9) and DS2 (age 7) even enjoyed it! We got all of the ressies we wanted, too:

Day 1 - Dinner at Tony's Town Square in MK (I know some people don't like it, but we'll try it - DH and I were there on our honeymoon and liked it)

Day 2 - Character Breakfast at Tusker House in AK - loved this one in February!!!

Day 3 - Lunch at Sci-Fi in DHS - DH's favorite from our honeymoon

Day 4 - Dinner at Le Cellier in EPCOT - we haven't tried this one yet, and had no problem getting a ressie at 5:25 pm on a Friday night - on MLK weekend!

Day 5 - Dinner at Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club - we like to do at least one resort restaurant and haven't tried this one yet. DS1 loves crab legs and this is one place that serves them.

Day 6 - Dinner at Yak & Yeti in AK - haven't tried this one yet

Day 7 - Lunch at Crystal Palace in MK - haven't tried this one yet

What do you guys think?

MickeyReeds, I personally would go CS so you don't have to "be somewhere". That way, you can just go with the flow, and if you happen to have snack or CS credits left, you can use them up. Let it roll! :hippie:

We'll be there Jan. 24 - Feb. 8 ! :dance3:

Going to 4 Disney parks, USF & IOA, BGT & SW.

Can't Wait !

How funny. I live in Rotterdam!!! Off of Highbridge Road Yes we would love to meet up with you and your DH. Our schedule is open at this time. We have decided this trip to see where the magic will take us.

We'll be checking in on Jan. 10th and checking out on Jan. 18th. Looking forward to a nice, long 2-week vacation -- we're road tripping down from Colorado and will spend some time with my husband's family in Tallahassee and Lakeland. But mostly Disney. LOL. I'm so excited. I haven't had a real vacation in years -- not since 2006. We've had job stress and then unemployment and financial woes -- just one thing after another. So now that we're doing well again, we DESERVE this. As an added bonus, my parents and my younger sister and her husband and two littles ones will be there at the same time. My son (aged 9) is so excited to introduce his 4-yr-old cousin to all the princesses!

Made all our dining ressies yesterday. Got everything we wanted. Yay!!!

OK I need help, I am rusty! I am an avid planner, but we mostly go to Disneyland since we live an hour away.

I feel sooooo out of it and last minute (or what seems to be) I have changed out Disneyland trip to a DisneyWorld trip:cool1:. I am planning on going 1/22-1/29 at POP for the free dining.

Can anyone tell me a little about this time of year? It's been a few years since I have been and we usually go in October.

It will be me and my DS(4)

Also how far in advance for ADR's again?

TIA

It will be after Marathon & MLK weekends and before Presidents Day so it should be very nice crowd wise in general, but with the FD offer that may bring in a few more that normally wouldn't have gone but nothing too crazy.

We did FD in Sept last year and as long as you are there at rope drop, we were able to ride attractions and get right back in line to ride them again with little to no wait. Afternoon things would start to pick up a little more though.

It's 180 days for dining reservations. I actually got lucky and made a few for our upcoming trip before they announced FD for January. Most can be made online http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/reservations/dining/

Have a magical vacation :goodvibes

Hi there
It looks like we will be there at the same time :cool1:

This will be the second time we have been there in January and as far as I am concerned it is the best time of year. Crowds are almost non existant and we have been able to walk up and get dining pretty much anytime we want.

As far as the weather it can run from cold to hot. What we usually do is wear jeans in the morning with a t shirt and then either a sweatshirt or light jacket. By afternoon we are down to the t shirt. My kids swim as well.

Of course it is freezing up where I live that time of year so anything above 60 is wonderful for us.

I think you have made a great choice and maybe we will see you around the parks. Have fun :yay:

We will be there from the 21st until Feb 4th. One week just wasnt enough last May.
