January 2011!!

Hey everyone! I'm actually helping a friend plan her trip for January but I was wondering if anyone knows when we can start booking packages?

Am I correct that anyone can book room only ressies at this point or do you have to be a DVC member? :confused3

Anyone can do room only bookings right now, no packages are available for 2011 yet. I don't know when the packages will be released - I'm anxious for those as well!

It must be torment planning a trip for someone else - especially if you aren't going to be enjoying the fun! :)

Happy Planning!

Thanks, Jan!

I get to go in October and I love helping people plan their WDW trips so it's OK! At least I can help her get started now that I know we can book room only. Thanks again!

My DD birthday is in January, and she just told me today she wants to go to WDW for her birthday, so now I am scrabbling around trying to get all the info and pricing to see if we can swing it or not.

I did already make an breakfast ressie at CP for one morning though just in case :)

We just booked the GF for Jan 12th thru the 17th. Hope the weather is good this year!

With the new 25% off value resort room only offer was able to save another $109 towards the trip, so went ahead and booked us 1/14-1/18 2011 at POP

Planning to surprise DD at Christmas time since her birthday is less than a month away from it, it will be kind of like a combined Christmas/Birthday present to her from us :goodvibes

So looking forward to a January 2011 trip.
Just got back from a beach trip to find a confirmation in the mail for the Disney trip - That's the way to do it, always have your next vacation in the can.
Going to add 3 more days to do Universal, but have to do some research on the disboard to find out how to work that out, where to stay, what the must see and eats are.

We are going along with my daughters High School Band. Double the Magic:cutie:

:cool1::banana::yay:

Just booked our WDW trip!! First one in over 20 years!!!

I'm sooooo excited! I just hope it actually happens... I am planning to go with my parents, so hopefully they keep their end of the bargain! If not I'll find 2 other people... and I'm so happy for FD as it saved us over 600$!! So that's a major bonus (especially to my dad, he's a bit of a cheapy :p)

Even my bunnies are excited... even though they'll stay home :p (well maybe they are actually mad, they are attacking my Passporters book hehe!)

You were able to book during that weekend :confused3 The site has these dates listed 1/9-1/13/11, 1/21-2/3/11 for the FD offer so I thought MLK weekend was not available for this so I just did the room only for our stay.

What resort are you all staying at?

I sure am glad I already made a few dining ressies ahead of this FD offer and was able to get some good times.

I'd love to subscibe to this thread. We head to the world to stay at AKV Jambo 1/8 - 1/17!!! Can not wait!!!

Since their stay is beginning on the 13th they can get free dining.

I just had to do it the other way. Our stay is 20-25 January (going with sons' band so can't change the dates). And free dining starts on the 21st (can't figure out why the heck it would start that Fri and not earlier in that week). So we're doing room only for the first night and then picking up the free dining on the 21st and will at least get 4 days of it. Only big issue is that we won't be able to get a park pass (well, without buying a separate one day pass) for the 20th, but since we'll probably arrive in the evening, we'll just go to DD or something that night.

Doesn't seem like dining reservations will be a huge problem - I was able to get a 7:15pm Le Cellier this morning for Jan 24th! We had booked a lunch one earlier, but figure if I have the free dining, might as well go for the more expensive dinner! :thumbsup2

I cannot wait for my MLK weekend trip with my mom! we will be staying at POFQ and we received one free night's stay due to a complaint letter we wrote last year. this trip is going to be so fun! not to mention i will be at WDW for my BIRTHDAY!!! party: party: party:

Booking tomorrow -- Jan 2nd -- Jan 8th, 2011 -- not sure yet because we do Vacation club. Will have two on college break this year and two in middle school. All voted for a winter vacation so let the count down begin. :cool1:

We are going the EXACT same days and are also DVC members! Our home resort is OKW but decided to try BCV this time. I'm hoping all the crowds are leaving when we're arriving!:goodvibes

We'll be there Jan. 22 - Feb. 1.

What's the deal with all the high school bands going in January? Do they have band competitions down there, like the cheerleading competitions?

Not as far as I know - our band is just doing the MK parade one day and the AK parade the next and I think a workshop somewhere. It was just a "pick a weekend that worked for you" type planning - they did ours between our semesters so the kids will leave right after finals on Thu and come back having only missed a day of the next semester. If you go on some of the band threads around here, I think there are always bands going at any time because they have several performing each day in each park.

If you're at all a serious park-goer, I really doubt they'll affect your schedule. Since I am, I refuse to even hang with them at all other than to come watch the parade since their schedule is like "meet at 9:30 for breakfast, etc.!" They also have them staying at AK until 9pm on a day that the park closes at 5. :confused3 I am avoiding offering criticism because then I'll get roped into planning it all. ;) Our group is staying off-site as well, so wouldn't bother you there either (well, DH & I are staying at Pop, but doubt we'll cause many problems!).

We had originally planned on going the first week of April to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary, but when Free Dining was announced, we couldn't pass it up. So this week, we changed our dates, booked all of our dining (not an easy feat with 11 people in our party) and last night, scored a good price on plane tickets for my family of 4!! We will fly from Des Moines, and the others from Illinois and we'll meet up. Originally my mom was insistant that we all fly together, which meant that we would have had to drive 3 hours. Since we changed to January, we talked her out of that idea, since the weather can be a factor during that time of year, and DH has a meeting the day before we leave, so we couldn't even leave early if the weather looked iffy! I am so excited, I could hardly sleep last night--kept waking up thinking about it!! We are staying at CBR 1/28-2/4. Can't wait to hear all about your planning for January!
