January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

So question on that 7/4 deal.....

what if a person is only going 6 nights....do you think they would let us pay for 4, and just get 2 free??? Anybody know how that worked last January?

I have a room only ressie set for 6 nights for Jan.

I know I know, we're crazy for not wanting the full 7 nights....but last trip, we were disney'd out by day 6.

Yup - we did just that last year. We just couldn't get there any faster! The cost would be the same for 4, 5, 6, or 7 days.

Thanks for the info. I sure hope they offer something. It seems to me a couple January's ago, they offered a 40% discount on the resort. That would be even better for us.

I wish I could make time go faster. Lots of stress this summer....father-in-law in bad shape, my mom recovering from a fall, roofers here today to install new roof...

I much prefer thinking about our upcoming trip!! It can't get here soon enough.

For anyone that took them up on the deal last January, was there anything additional if you were staying longer than 7 nights? We are going for 9 nights in January. I'm thrilled to have a 4/3 special, but I wonder if we will be paying full rack rate for 2 more days then. I'm sure not complaining, but just wondering and planning. : )

Not unless you're staying 14 nights, then you could do two of the ressie, (buy 8, get 6 free), plus you'd get 2 gift cards.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to stop in and say "Hi!” and I miss you guys! All this January Specials talk sure gets the blood going (I'm sure it will be something good, at least it has been the last three Januarys).

I just finished my forth round of chemo today. Feeling very tired, very fatigued, the build up of everything in your system really takes its toll (and the side effects become more prevalent, my hair is going the way of the Dodo bird….;)). I’m hanging in there, and my Husband keeps reminding me we only have a bit over a week until he takes us all down to WDW for our 10th Anniversary. Rick has been great. He always helps with the planning when we go in January, but he has done 100% of the planning for this trip (to ease my load a bit) and he is doing a great job. He better not get a big head over this deal!:lmao:

Everyone be good, if I don’t get back on before we get to WDW I’ll be sure to let you all know how things went. Hopefully everything goes well. Heck, I’ll be at Disney, it doesn’t get any better than that. Take care.:lovestruc

So good to hear from you! Have a wonderful time on vacation with your family.

Hey!! Glad to hear you're doing all right and still got that great trip coming up! I'm looking forward to hearing about it. Maybe you can do a TR? (I should talk, I always said I would and didn't!) Maybe next time...

If you want to stay longer, that's okay, you would be paying rack rate for the extra nights. We actually stayed 8 nights and got the 3 for free. Our trip was actually 10 nights and we were fortunate enough to be able to book our first and last nights at a value using a Public code for REALLY cheap! I think we paid ~ $55/night for the 2 nights we stayed at the values. It was a room only code so there is the possibility of that too! :)

Joni it's so good to hear you're doing so well and don't worry about the hair- it'll grow back. Or you can get one of those fun Goofy hats while you're in Disney and fit right in :goofy: ! Keep us updated on your trip too! Happy 10th !

That is exactly what I'm hoping for. That would be a perfect deal for us! Thanks for the input. Either way, as long as we get a decent deal we will be so happy. That gift card would be awesome!!!! We can't wait!

Subscribing just in case.....

Anyone ever get "snowed in" and have to go back to WDW for an extra day? My biggest fear is not being able to get back home (I'm a teacher). But curious if anyone has had to do that anyway.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I still have a little hair left, I was proactive and cut it all off when I started (not shaved, just a short style). It helps hide the thinning as you loose it. The funny part, and how do I put this in a PG rated version.... you loose your hair everywhere, not just on your head. I wasn't prepared for that!:scared1: Sorry for that one guys, just a bit of chemo humor.:rotfl: Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Not yet...but I'm always hoping! :lmao:

REALLY! That is an interresting fact and definately not TMI! It is wonderful that you can find some really good humor. What a great attitude you have. Have a fantastic 10th anniversary trip.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. I was on the boards just checking things out last year on Nov 6th, noticed that the boards were hopping and started to check out the buz. It was so exciting cuz the 4/7 deal had just come out and everyone was on boards and phones together trying to get their ressies changed. One other quick thing as I hung out and watched for days, not sure exactly when but soon after the 6th people started reporting pay 3 stay/play 5 deals. Also all of the people who did more than 7 just used 2 ressies with combo of what they needed.

Anyone have preferred times to go in January than others? I see the first weekend, after the 1st is the marathon. Is that going to be the 8-10 next year? The next weekend is MLK day (no way).

I think we'll be looking at the following weekend 22-24.

We used to have Institute Days the last Friday in Jan. I would have been happy to miss that, but not this year. So I'll miss 2 teaching days. I hate that. I'd rather squish it in with a non-attendance day, but what can you do?

What are your thoughts?

I'm new to his thread, but I wanted to let you know my family is keeping you in our prayers. You will have a wonderful time at WDW.
And remember, that bald head is a badge of honor. A friend of mine had breast cancer and lost her hair through treatment as well...and she never looked more beautiful! :goodvibes

Have an awesome trip!!

Joni Thanks so much for the laugh- I really needed it tonight.:lmao: :thumbsup2
My MIL just had surgery this past Friday to remove a cancerous lump in her breast and she'll find out this week if she has to do chemo or radiation- not if, but which one and how much. So the big C word has been floating around my house lots lately. It scares me how common it is.

I only worry about getting snowed in and not being able to get to Disney since we live in the NE and drive down. I never worry about having to stay longer- I'd love it if I had to though!!!!

I picked the last week in Disney since we had such luck with it last year. The crowds weren't too bad and we really lucked out with the weather too.

Thanks Monny!

When DH and I were first dating, we were supposed to go Pres. Weekend in Feb. Our flight was cancelled (probably evening) by mid-afternoon--big snow. Disney and AA were both very nice about refunding. We were able to reschedule for a longer trip in June (people on these board still talk about the heat of June 2000).

What was the weather like at the end of Jan?
