Good morning/afternoon Snowbirds!!!! :cool1:

Just checking in to see how you're all doing and how that planning is going! I'm so excited to see WDW again after all these years. I can only imagine how much it's changed. Plus I've never seen AK, that wasn't even there the last time I visited!

Marathon training is going well. This will be my first full marathon and I'm a bit nervous about it. I had another 1/2 marathon on Sunday in Long Beach. My finish time was 2:57 so for a walker that's not to bad. I just need to keep training and get faster, faster, faster!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!!

Oh no, we have plenty of humidity here in PA. :scared1: It's just not always the warm humidity like in Florida! :rotfl:

PA can be downright awful in the heat of summer. My hair stays in a permanent state of fuzzy.:scared1:

I spent the summer of 1995 in Gabon, Africa, which is a rainforest country. I went during the dry season. It was about 80-80 degrees and it only rained once in 2 months. I returned to PA, and the humidity and heat hit me like a ton of bricks when I got off the plane in Harrisburg. :scared: It was about 95 degrees and the humidity was running about 90%. Just awful.

I'm spoiled living here. When humidity reaches about 45% I think it's too humid. I'm not sure how I'll handle a PA summer. I'm a little skeert to find out!:rolleyes1

As for rides I don't like/enjoy at Disney, it's hard for me to answer since it's been so long since I've been there. Dumbo wasn't a huge thrill, but I enjoyed it. It's a typical carnival ride with some Disney magic. Space Mountain was disappointing to me for some reason, but I'm sure I'll love it. The treehouse was closed, though I don't know that I'll be jumping up and down thrilled with that this time either.

That ride that's inside the giant Epcot ball was pretty boring to me as a 16 year old. :confused3

But I'm sure I'm going to just enjoy all of it! I'm such an amusement park junkie! I love even the stupidest of rides!

While I was reading that thread about the characters :rotfl: , DD crawled into her brothers' room. I went to check on her and found that she had gotten into their "hat basket". She had only pulled three hats out...a pirate hat, a Pluto hat, and a Sorcerer Mickey hat. Guess I'm raising her right! :goodvibes

Meanwhile, I had a good (unrelated) idea for Disney marketing..."Discounts Your Way"! They could offer your choice of a combination of room discounts (varying based on what other options you chose), ticket upgrades, and free or reduced-price dining plans. Think I can convince them? ;) For example, we already have park tickets and aren't that interested in the dining plan, so we'd take a maximum room discount. (I'd love to stay at the Poly, where we stayed when I was little, but calculated that I'd need a 67% discount to make it comparable to SOG  ) Other people might choose a smaller room discount and free hopper upgrades, or whatever. What do you think?

Urgh, any snowbirds out there have good source material for a paper on Ancient Greek theatre festivals??????

:surfweb: :idea: :teacher: :badpc::mad: :faint:

Sometimes I really don't like school. Stinking college education...

Hi --

I looked up your question on our library database and found a few items in some magazines --

http://find.galegroup.com/ips/infomark.do?action=interpret&subjectParam=Locale(en,US,):FQE=(SU,31)ancient%20greek%20theatre%20festivals$&sgHitCountType=None&sort=DateDescend&searchType=BasicSearchForm&type=search&subjectAction=DISPLAY_SUBJECTS&prodId=IPS&source=library&queryId=Locale(en,US,):FQE=(KE,31)ancient%20greek%20theatre%20festivals:And:LQE=(AC,None,8)fulltext$&version=1.0&userGroupName=tel_p_memshel&finalAuth=true

That's a really long link but, when I copied and pasted it a minute ago, it worked. If it doesn't, you can PM me your email address and I can email the articles to you.

Also, hopefully the link will get you to our database so you can search for more items.

Hope this helps!

Debbie

P.S. I totally know what you mean about that stinking college education....

Have you ever used EBSCOHost? I can usually find lots in there. There's a link for it in my college's library's website, but only students can use that link. Give it a try though!

Spaceship Earth (aka the Big Golf Ball in Epcot) is a ride where I try to find the hidden Mickeys so it makes it a lot more fun for me. For a ride that I'm not sure I will really really enjoy (there are not a lot of those, I even like the Great Movie Ride, then again I'm a sucker for the Wizard of Oz) I try to find Hidden Mickeys and I seem to enjoy the ride a lot more LOL

QOTD- This is a hard one! I love pretty much everything at WDW. I have yet to ride TT and MS at Epcot. I've also never done Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. We will probably skip it because I've heard that it can scare young children. I want to do TT, but probably not MS.

I've never done Stitch's great escape, but I have done Alien Encounter. That scared me half to death! I've also never been on the Astro Orbitor. It just seems like Dumbo, but up higher! IASM can be a bit annoying, but it's still cute. I loved the OLD Tiki Room when I was younger. The newer one isn't as good. Country Bears remind me of my childhood and going to WDW with my grandparents (who are no longer with us). It brings back good memories.

I have yet to ride ToT and RNRC and I'm really looking foward to them! Instead of making my DD wait in line with us for the child swap, we plan on using the single rider lines wherever possible. I don't care who I sit with! I loved the old Sounds Dangerous at DHS. I don't care for the Drew Carey version. I liked it when they pulled guests out of the audience to do the sound effects for the Chevy Chase short movie. That was hysterical!

I have never been to AK, and I'm looking forward to that too. I can't wait to ride EE! My little sis said its the best! Well, off to pick up my little birthday princess from school!

OMG!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU :worship: :worship: :worship:
My college database is being useless to me right now. I'll have to check on EBSCOHost. Right now I'm fighting my way through Project Muse, but when I search "Ancient Greek Theatre" I get stuff like "A History of Gay Porn"....:confused3 Thankfully I have till next week, it's just that time of year when everything hits you at once! I can't wait till Christmas!

Hey Carrie, as you are a PA theme park junkie, have you ever been to Knobles near Danville? We use to go there all the time, I love it! It was our inbetween Disney trips park when I was younger.

My son turned 5 on Friday, and at first I was kinda of sad. He's growing up so fast but I was looking at him this morning and I think I have decided that I am so proud of what a good little man he's becoming - how could I not be happy :confused3

On another note...all this talk about surprising your kids make me so mad :headache: that I didn't do it. I just have way to big of a mouth  I think my son and I had decided we were going BEFORE my husband knew :lmao:

  :yay: :yay: :woohoo: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

My DH loved the RNRC (he went on it while I was pregnant with out DD, so not fair!). His fav band is Aerosmith, so I knew he would love it. Roller coasters are my favorite kind of ride!

We're not celebrating too much for our DD's birthday today. We had cake with our out of town family members on Sunday at a brunch at my parents house. That's our after wedding tradition in my family! :) So, she just opened presents this morning and she actually has to tag along with me tonight while I teach dance. I don't feel too bad having her stay up past her bedtime since it is her birthday. Her birthday party for her school friends is this coming Saturday, so that's her big day. It's a bowling party and it should be a lot of fun.

I agree RNRC and EE are the best!! :cool1:  Meghan - your DD is probably big enough for EE isn't she? I think it's only 44"! RNRC is 48", my DS7 isn't even close to being tall enough for that yet.

And Happy Birthday to everyone's little ones, there seem to be a lot of little Snowbird birthday's lately!!

party: :bday: :jumping1:

Just changed our trip from December to January so I could join this thread!!
Ok, well honestly, that was not the reason! But I am glad to see so many excited families ready to go like we are. We changed our plans because Dec 7-11th seems to be super crowded. So I am hoping the weather will be good for us in January and I am sure the crowds will be fairly low compared to December!
